You boys are normally better than this. So the bike doesn't lend its self to being modded quite as simply as the light bee. It shouldn't, it's a more grown up and properly developed thing. The tilt sensor is actually a really useful thing if you are riding steep terrain, likewise the hand-brake function looks like it would also be pretty handy if you have to bail a steep climb. Not saying there is no case for upgrading the ultra, but people like EBMX might need to accept that the percentage of the market who will want to "upgrade" the ultra is going to be much much smaller and that's not a bad thing. It means that the product is getting much better.
Please post if/when you come up with suspension modifications or settings you like. I agree totally with your assessment and it's one area of the bike I'd like to upgrade.
Not sure about the rewiring comment. Lots of folks putting the upgraded controller on the bike without any rewiring and getting more power out of it just fine but you lose the display function with the ebmx I hear. Fun review though and will look for the next one thanks.mates.
I'm looking at ultra bee right now... But it's hard to judge the price. 7500 Euro... We get 750 back (green initiative of my city), then we get roughly 400 euro per year from riding an eBike, at least until 2030. So while the Surron would cost me 7500,- cash, it would only cost me 4000,- over 7 years. BUT I could also buy a used KTM Freeride E-XC for like 7k (with the new battery = bigger) and still get the 400 Euro per Year till 2030, so the price is basically the same.
So basically what your really telling us is to not waste our money on the Ultra Bee. Just buy a Storm Bee that has it all for less money in the end. Got it!
@@surronsd I fully understand but once you put new controller, new wheels n tires, riser bars, foot pegs and other small items your almost to the cost of the storm. I'm not knocking the Ultra Bee, I own one and it's a great bike.
@@ottotarnowske987 do you ride the street or the on dirt, I put bars on that’s a personal preference, wheels and tires on and I’m still no where near the cost of the stormbee and no where near the weight which is what makes the ultrabee and lightbee so good. Not having to lug around that extra weight. Not to mention no oil or coolant to be replaced like the stormbee.
You realise you can turn the tilt sensor off on the stock control in the settings

If I didn't think you were paid by ebmx already I Def do now
…thanks for your effort lads, great entertainment. Will be interesting to see how it handles the tougher terrain post mods. 👍🏼
