Big Joanie - ‘In My Arms’: In the Box (Royal Festival Hall performance)

Big Joanie give an intimate performance of their anthem love song ‘In My Arms’ in a box of the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall.
Formed in London in 2013, Big Joanie are a Black feminist punk band consisting of Stephanie Phillips and Estella Adeyeri.

Combining the fury of 1990s riot grrrl with synth-heavy post punk, the duo have been deservedly championed by BBC 6Music, Rolling Stone, Pitchfork and Brooklyn Vegan amongst others. Big Joanie’s contribution to the canon of Black artists in alternative music earned them a nomination for Best Alternative Music Act at the 2022 MOBO Awards.
Released in November 2022, the band’s second album, Back Home, ranked in Rolling Stone’s top albums of the year list. It reflects Big Joanie’s DIY roots and unique brand of feminist punk, while exploring new sonic territory. ‘In My Arms’ was the second single from that album.
