- Опубліковано 30 тра 2020
- JakoJako is a Berlin-based techno artist who primarily performs live and uses modular synthesis extensively in her music. Last year she released her debut EP on Leisure System, and she also works at SchneidersLaden, one of the world’s most famous stores for modular synth gear.
In this episode of Patch Notes, she records an emotive techno set from her home studio, using a compact Eurorack system with Elektron’s Octatrack and Analog Rytm.

This was the moment I knew I had to dive into the world of modular synths. Months later I’m back to say I just got my first semi-modular. Absolutely inspiring.
Have fun with it!

plus 100 likes for the cable tie management
i know it's 2020 but that's clearly a woman's thing, to be that organized. as a man, let's just say i'm glad they make cable patches in different colors.
@@eylvy with you on that one man
@@eylvy That's a lazy thing. lmao
@@eylvy ain't no thang like an o.c.d. thang #cableporn
@@eylvy Weird sexist comment. Believe it or not some men are organised too, even if you aren't ;)
Nicely done performance, but also possibly the cleanest, pristine modular synth setup I've yet seen.
Entering into my home synth techno cave is more like an Indiana Jones adventure . . .
Oh hell yeah!! Thank you for this!
COLIN!!! YOU THE MAN!

This needs to be made into a song and released. Fantastic
This morning I had a song stuck in my head, with this nice and evolving lead melody with delay, spent 15 minutes on Spotify trying to find it…turned out to be the first 4 minutes of this jam. It’s so good!
I was blown when then arp progression changed into a beautiful melody!!!!!......DAMN thats sick! Top stuff JakoJako>>>
This was great. And that cable management...Ace.
I firmly believe this is one of the BEST performances on UA-cam
Not even close. All shes doing is triggering samples and and turning the cutoff and some filters. Calm down.
Go watch Look Mum No Computer
@@Handler870 and Colin benders
you did not hear Colin Benders then, hes modular synth master.
There's no video here but I highly recommend this ;)

Been coming back to this again and again for two years now. So awesome. Thank you!

This is just soooo bloody amazing... probably listening to this for the thousandth time... I am absolutely in love with her soundscapes! 🥰❤️
tasteful and stylish ambience... loved to hear this one with my first coffee of the day... hope to see her live set one day (when we all can meet again... really miss live music)
Sounds like my outer brain inner heart space on one windy day . Mahalo for sharing.
She recenetly did a live set for United We Stream; it's magic, do listen.

I don't understand people who disliked this well executed session.
Amazing
UA-cam just adds random thumb downs to add balance.
Loving this performance... Acciiiidd 🙂
probably they are the bollocks expecting another boom boom techno horseshit
@@TheTrancemaster90 OK so they can just skip this video.
I can understand if it's another boring dj set with boring cdjs, but here, its live perf.
And it's easy to just put a dislike here.
Real bollocks are to explain why they disliked.

I keep coming back for this one, that 303 melody sounds so good and that transition...whoa!
good music. thank you. namaste!
Loving this new wave of celestial techno that is emerging....
Her style is similar to James Holden and Oliver Lieb.
Colorful, magical, deep.. Love it!
I think its Squarepusher but the older Tracks of him.
I love it. It's like the machine is expressing itself through the repetitions and variations.
The picture on the wall looks like you. You in the picture look very relaxed. You who are creating music are so serious. But these two you are not in contradiction at all. I felt that way, listening to this music.💓Thank you👏
Being an american, I rarely see an entire production with only modular synthesis. Usually, American artists use keyboards and drum machines with Ableton or one of the many DAWs out there. I absolutely love this wonderful music and JakoJako has certainly impressed me. The wiring looks crazy.
Incredible mix, especially for live work with Euro. The melodics are soothing and the beats keep the energy in the pocket
I get brought back here so often and this track just never gets old. I move in my seat along with JakoJako and just groooove to these perfect rhythms
I was really digging this video, which I found by chance, and then I took a closer look at her rack, and what did I see in the top right? Quadra + Expander and Korgasmatron. I designed those! So, I had a small part in this very cool performance. I gotta tell ya, it's pretty gratifying.
Just sit back and go on a journey. Amazing textures, enough variation to keep it interesting all the way through. Masterful.
Wonderful patching and beautiful arps. Love your sound.
LOVE LOVE LOVE -- her creative energy is so contagious and inspirational!!
Perfect sound ! Thanks.
Beautiful music! Sounds so good! Just what I wanted to listen to...Cheers!

Awesome sounds and beats. I have a long way to go as I’m just getting into it.

Her tones are SO. FUCKING. WARM. Love your style, J.J... 🎛🎚❤🇩🇪
I absolutely love this. Great melodies and movement throughout... just sublime.
Absolutely amazing !!!
fantastic jam! i love how the vibe evolves from ambient to techno to trance to breakbeat all without skipping a step. very natural. amazing work. you're an inspiration to us all.
I like how it's exploring all these genres and no-one is gatekeeping.
Really nice percussive work underlying all those great proggy melodies. Very cool.
Beautifully skillful musical and great sounds, thanks! 🔈🔊🔈👌
Ooooh and she sells on vinyl. Thank you 😘
I got into electronic at age 11. still trying to get to Berlin, don't give up
Yeah really good vibes and great trip
Great music...very inspiring....awesome stuff!
Progressive stuff is like a journey through sound love it ✊🏻✌️
She's amaiiizing! Dude I left a comment to another guy that was saying that she's faking making changes and it showed under you comment!!! WTF is wrong with UA-cam. I think deleted his comment cause it's not there anymore and UA-cam decide it to dock it somewhere else.
Btw. She's solid

10 minutes of pure magic.
I don't think I have ever seen any other youtuber apply cable management to their modular synth 😂🤣😂🤣
Very nice performance. Thank you, JakoJako!
I am in love with everything about this from the music that takes me to an amazing place- the musician ;)-the tats - to the cable tyes and the calligraphy- !
Swoon! I love this so much : )
This is sooo good, should definitely be released, not just live!
Gorgeous. I am still fascinated by how neatly all the cables are tied.
this sesh is so good i keep coming back
Beautiful music, beautiful gear, beautiful woman.
I'm smiling, tapping my foot, and enjoying the journey.
I was nodding my head 👍🏿
Wow! Awesome set-up! Love it!
Cool!!!!! I like the sound of it all.
OK I FELL IN LOVE,GOD BLESS YOU ALL
oh my lord, people doing modular, take notes please!!! cable management lvl: 999
i agree it's great seeing good cable management like that. but that means she's "saving" this patch for a while. i often patch stuff up and then unpatch at the end. would make cable management redundant and time wasting
@@256k_ yep, totaly right, lets say it's for display, or show purpose. or even better: "audiance readability"
Pretty sure most of the modular users rely on happy accidents rather than actual control like this. The audio is well managed throughout, not just the cables.
@@256k_ you re-use portions of patches constantly. Don't pretend otherwise.

@5:25 that sound coming in wow!
nice music,nice performance,nice painting,nice girl
Nice cool funky chock full of elegant simple complexity. Sumptuous. Thanks for making and sharing.
I listen to ambient "Berlin School" modular based sequencing and you can really hear some similarities if you ignore the drum track. Nice.
That's what I felt also
Yes, it does remind me of old Tangerine Dream. Just get rid of some of the percussion, and you have old-school Berlin School sequencing. The younger kids have just updated it and made it dance-able, which is a good thing.
Not usually my type of vibe. But this was great.
Really enjoyed the variation and detail in this track. Nicely done!
Love the melodies so nice awesome work 👍👍
This Synth requires brains to make music but also requires alot of patience from listeners. (Hahahaha) Keep em coming.. Cheers!!!
I compose for fun and mental health and it has left me no space in studio. Hahahha But I'm still greedy.
So much great naturalistic progression. Love the transitions and rhythmical interlayering. Have to relisten with headphones. As to the cable management someone mentioned. That is EXACTLY like a well trained electronics board assembly person would do the internal wiring- case in point it actually bothers me so few do their cords like this lol.
This is really top stuff! Sounds Ace!!
A beautiful set, thank you
She’s really nursing the modular into sonic healing ))))))))))))) transients of beauty
love good modular sets that don't devolve in modular mayham. Is there a list of modules she uses? I recognise the obvious ones but would love to see a full layout and why she uses them in said configuration.
