    I did my BC in June 2016. Since then I've learned that my hair is high porosity, fine strands and I'm 4b/4c. My hair LOVES shea butter, extra virgin olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, jbco, aloe vera, honey, aphogee 2 step protein treatments & egg yolks. It hates eco styler gel and gorilla snot! I can go up to 3-4 days before I have to moisturize my hair again. I just recently bleached my hair and got it dyed blue and purple(blue roots, the rest purple) and YES it was done by a professional that I know AND trust(my sis in law). I've gotten my hair flat ironed twice during my journey(August 2017 & March 2019) by the same person who colored my hair. I'm currently a little past armpit length about 2-3 inches from bra strap length. However my hair(in my opinion) isn't this thick. But I'm making the best of what I have. 😊❤

    Your hair is so beautiful i LOVE to see more and more women go natural it's so stunning!
    Im part white part eastern band cherokee, shio(hello)! I have decently thick hair that grows pretty quick. When i was younger my grandmother would constantly cut my hair even tho me and my mom didn't want her too she did anyway "bc long hair is for older girls" makes no damn since but anyway it was sort till around my teen years. At that point i went wild with it and cut it almost any way you can imagine and dyed it whatever color i felt like, i did everything on a whim. once i turned 16 right after i got a pixie cut (*eye roll*) i decided to nurish it and grow it out. I didnt grow up on the rez and neither did my mom so i had to learn on my own about my heritage and part of that has been my journey of growing it out. Since that day i let it grow for personal and mostly spiritual reasons until last august when my fiances dad passed we both cut our hair (thats the only time we cut our hair. Hes also eastern cherokee) and now im growing it out again and its a little past my bra. Ongoing journey of growth🌿

    I BC’d almost 2 years ago and I feel like I’m STILL learning what my hair does/doesn’t like. This 2nd year I really haven’t seen much growth at all & it’s kinda discouraging. I think I just need to be real consistent😩 but your hair is beautiful!

    • @connieleilani17
      @connieleilani17 5 років тому

      Marquita Sherice Yup, it’s Connie! Lol. As far as regular maintenance I feel like I always have to refresh my hair everyday, I try wash n gos but my hair just shrinks and gets matted. It never stays hydrated for longer then a day tbh. I was deep conditioning with heat under a hooded dryer for about 2 months but I stopped. (which I should definitely incorporate this back into my hair care) I think my hair type is 4a! The back section of my hair and the sides are tighter curls and the front and middle are tight but not as tight as the other sections. Overall I’d definitely say 4a maybe even 4b ! Thank you so much for responding 😊

    First let me say it was nice to watch your hair journey but also seeing you mature from a cute little girl to a beautiful young woman! I love it ❤️ your curl pattern and overall hair Is gorgeous......
    Now ... watching your journey is a great example that proves no matter genetics, hair texture etc if we are doing things to our hair that’s damaging it Will hinder growth and/or length retention ... So it is possible to grow long healthy hair with the right care !❤️❤️❤️ regardless of texture, genetics, etc.

    I can relate to your story. When I was a little girl, and as long as my mother was doing my hair, my hair had always been long. I started letting my sister do my hair because she was up with the new styles at that time. My 5th grade year, my sister relaxed my hair. Like most, I was getting it relaxed every six weeks, getting my ENTIRE head relaxed each time. My hair broke off to my neck line. I did my first bc when I graduated high school in 2009. Stayed natural for four years and my hair became waist length. 2013 I gave in and relaxed again. My hair still grew, I only relaxed no more than twice a year. Went to a PROFESSIONAL hair salon and it was just the worst decision. To shorten the story I had to do another bc after that visit. It was something else. I had gotten used to long hair and then went to nothing. It took time honestly to fall in love with my hair again. The second week in march 2020 will make three years. This time I'm sticking to it!

Also, I would get a weave done straight after the relaxer had been done. I had a head full patches with short hair and it has taken me time to regrow the hair which had gone.

    I am struggling girl. I started to go natural for the first time a year ago or so, but I spent some of that time between it dying my hair as well. Then I got dumped and bleached my hair around 3 times...at 40 volume developer...at home. Yea. I’m amazed I have hair. I noticed my hair is thinner than before, but I found a product regimen that works. But the issue is that my hair pattern is getting to be confusing because it can be anywhere from straight pieces to z shaped strands. It clumps into waves, but the strands are inconsistent in pattern. I think i might’ve really done fucked up my hair this time.

      Marquita Sherice thanks a ton!! I’ve wanted to do protective styles for a while, it’s just kind of expensive and the first time I tried to do it myself it ended up a disaster 😅😅 but I have a beauty supply near me so I might try again. What’s your favorite protective style? I have an undercut and probably around 4-5 inches on top without shrinkage and like 2-3 with.

      Marquita Sherice no that’s high porosity, cos low porosity takes ages to absorb moisture and products
