10 years later, I come back
For almost 11 years now, I have watched this video at least 10 times a year. It always calms me and makes me so sleepy. I commented on this video years ago, and asked Victor if he would ever return to this barber, and he responded something along the lines of "I tried to make an appointment, but the barber had shut down his business." I wonder if he is still alive...times flies by so fast. Still love this video! The start of ASMR Japan!
Yeah, it's a shame. They tore down the barbershop and someone built a house there. I did go back once and as I went in the door he apologized and said he was suddenly ill and had to go to the hospital. He retired soon after that. He might still be alive. I don't know. I'll ask around the neighborhood. I know a woman who lives nearby the old shop.
@@ASMRJapan Thank you for your reply, sir. I would appreciate you asking and finding out. You do not have to do that, but thank you for saying you will. Just something I have been curious about for a few years now. Love your channel! Keep up the good work!
This video popped up on my feed again, so of course, I had to watch it from start to finish again. Saw our comments. You have no obligation to me, but I am curious if you ever found out about the barber. Hope you are well, Vicktor!
Interesting!! He put white baby powder on your black hair because the contrast would make any "dekoboko" or uneven surfaces stand out better so he could correct them. I've never seen that before.
他人が床屋で髪を切られているだけの動画なのに最後まで見てしまった。
なぜだろう。きっと懐かしい風景だったからだろうな。
I have watched this video 500 times over 3 years. puts me right out.
You're right. I do the same. Definite cure for insomnia.
Hey guys, guess what I did today?
Watched 40 minutes of barbering.
Rivlien
Now admit those were the best 40 minutes of your life
Same here. Helps me relax.
nice ambient sounds. Full-length vid as well.
One of my favorite vids on you tube! Thanks!
Wow. I never thought I'd be so entertained by someone getting their hair cut for almost 41 minutes. I was watching a lot of videos on Japanese Anime and Manga and culture in general and came upon this great video. Thank you!
I remember the first time I saw this video like it's yesterday. Someone in the comments said this was asmr and I went down the rabbit hole of discovering what that was, now over a decade later I came back and saw that you changed this channel to an asmr channel and that's cool. Thought that was just a weird coincidence... First subbed this channel because I was interested in moving to Japan and now I'm here for the asmr
This is a great video.
いい床屋さんだなぁ
最後まで見るとは思わなかったw
なつかしくて良いもの見れましたありがとう
I literally entered a Meditative State only by watching this masterful barber doing his job.
This is the original video that got me hooked on asmr all the way back when I found it in the early 2010's.
the first barber video i ever saw with you, and it is still the best for me to this date!
Oh man I first found this video like 10 years ago. First time I saw it I was hooked especially onto the barber streams because they are so relaxing and I admire the time they put into their craft. Every once and awhile I will remember and have to try and find the video but this time I was smart and saved it to a playlist.
I've watched this like 10 times, its hypnotizing.
Glad you enjoy it.
It's called ASMR ;)
10? i watch this every night to sleep
me too every night==
hypnotizing~hypnotizing~
14 years later my original introduction to asmr
This is my favorite barber video out of all the others. Would love to see another video of this barbershop.
this is my favorite video of the day
ベビーパウダーを付ける理由ってそこだったのか!!
この床屋の店主頭いいな~すげえな昔の人は。
店内があんまりきれいでなくても、施術が雑でもヘタでも何でもいい。こういう床屋が私の好み。
Your videos are the best on UA-cam! Thank You for posting them! :-)
The washing and massage scene is very relaxing. Thank you for the years of relaxation. One of my favorite all time videos. This video is up there with LIVE Beatles concerts and rare footage.
Do another video of this barber. He.s good
legit not even kidding, that looks so relaxing
この動画をBGMにして昼寝するとすごくよく寝られるんだ……40分で動画が終わるから時間もちょうどいい
Enjoyed the video great job
WOW, watching through this was relaxing as hell.. the feels.
this is that side of youtube also look at "worlds greatest head massage, anything bob ross related, *personal prefrance but* spray art video's
mrsandman500 ASMR
Strangely relaxing
That service is insane! i love it!
thanks buddy keep up the good work
Victor this is the first video I ever watched of yours. Blast from the past.
Donnie M Blast from what past? Are you saying we've met?
+Gimmeaflakeman it's an expression lol..
+Gimmeaflakeman What I think he meant is that here in the States the true old school barber is a dying breed. The barber is replaced by corporate shops like Great Clips and Sports Clips. You can't find customer service and attention to detail like you find in a locally owned business such as this. You produce great videos by the way and give insight into a very interesting and dare I say "very cool" Japanese culture.
Even though it was 40 minutes long, I went through the whole thing, and it felt like only 5 minutes! It was a very relaxing video for me :)
The wood grain walls and the pleather seats take me back. ❤️😅 the sound of the TV, outside traffic and birds are calming
this is so relaxing!!
This was very cool to watch.
I am learning how to speak Japanese, i only understood a word here and there, but either way it looked like a relaxing experience.
My barber has to step his game up, cause he does nothing like that for me haha
lol Years ago when i couldn't sleep this will put me to sleep from being so relaxed
watching this makes me even more excited that i picked this as a profession and a trade for life. Thank you for uploading! He is very skilled with the straight razor!
I loved it, he made the uniform layer look so simple, it was clean and well worth watching. Experienced gained thank you.
Wow... What well executed service. The barber even groomed the small fuzz on the forehead and between the brows. It only makes sense that the art of bonsai comes from this part of the world. The only difference is that it's grooming a plant. Nevertheless, these people take grooming and cleanliness seriously, and it's refreshing to see. I get joy out of seeing someone's face not razor burned after a really good shave because Heaven knows that I rarely get that luxury myself. I have the curse of sensitive skin coupled with thick whiskers, so I dull a blade very quickly and end up with burn on my chops. I seriously need to invest in good oil and soap along with some hot towels.
consider a barber once a month. might be more expensive for a high end shave but they do deal with thick whiskers and sensitive skin well. another trick is to shower first and shave right out of the shower,
No need to take an actual shower, just rub your face with warm water to open your pores, then after shaving splash your face with slightly cold or cold water and then some, non-alcohol after shave. Another cool trick is to make ice cubes out of mineral water and after shave and then rub it on your face after shaving. Don't forget to apply some moisturizer (without scent if you like your after shave scent) while your face is mildly wet after applying the after shave/after shave ice cube.
That was cool!! That barber is a hard working dude. Wish you could still get a straight shave around here....
Interesting...thanks for sharing and thanks to the barber for sharing his skills.
Awesome unintentional 音フェチ / ASMR video, Victor!
We need English subtitles or a translation. Nice video, thank you.
WOW!! That cut made him look younger. He went in 45 came out 35 holy crap, i want one.
Your other videos are excellent......just like this gem !!!
I believe the reason people are so interested in this video is that it offers a window into the past. Here in the States this is a dying industry....I fortunately still have my hair cut at a true barber shop. It is a real pleasure to see a man who cares deeply about the quality of service he provides. Thank you for sharing!
Aaaaaaaaaah, eeeeeeeeeeeh, neeeeeeeeh, heeeeeeeh. I find it very amusing how Japanese express surprise with their speech. LOL
rbaleksandar hahahah I loved that part
Excellent piece of footage. For those of us who live in Japan, it's quite an amplified example of the sort of lengthy, uber-precise attention to a whole-dimensional ' assault ' upon the flaws of bodies that is still quite obscure in the West. Reminds me of how people from the Middle East are so often stunned, with good reason, at how slovenly, sloppy, obese, and slapdash millions of denizens of the Anglosphere appear in public.
I laughed, good jokes, many gags to be had
this has become my "go to sleep" video!! Not in a bad way, just the calm, relax feelling that it gives me. Would love to meet this man. Very dedicated, calm, steady hand....
Nice video!
Oh god 2019 is strong
perfection, he is meticulous. after he washes ur hair he goes over it again with a fine tooth comb....literally. u just need to switch up ur hairstyle, like comb it a different way. when he was done washing it ur hair was styled wet from the wash and It looked good. new hairstyle! that's what I vote for.
This was so relaxing to watch.
You should do another video here 👌🏽
It closed.
+Gimmeaflakeman oh no..
Yes do another one
Jovian Ramirez
Can you meet the Barber again, sad it has closed.
Fantastic! Not to mention that is a very distinguished cut on you. PS: if you put "asmr" in the title this video would blow up even more!
Great and informative video, thanks! And I too think you look much younger and better without glasses :) Keep the videos coming, please!
it is always nice to see someone who has mastered there craft at work.
I would love to get my hair cut by that master
You kinda resemble Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk from the Avengers) when you take off your glasses.
yvette washington that my friend is a great shout.
This is by far one of the best barber "experience" videos on UA-cam ... Props to you
Awesome video! It is very deserving of the 1 million views it will soon have!
Too kind!
Who’s watching in 2019?
I wish there were subtitles so I could understand what you guys are talking about.
Excellent video
excellent video
now I want to have my hair cut..
Hahaha :D I would have never ever thought that a Japanese barber cleans your ears ^^ Was it weird or did it feel nice?
Yuck. I had to turn my head when he did that!!
John Counts its more yucky if ur not cleaning ur ears.
Condoriano Biach Actually it's better if you don't
Did you ever visit him again?
even cheap, for his fantastic work! it's a pleasure to see a man that love his job! thanks for your video
Victor - this is my favourite film of yours - so relaxing and interesting to see the barbers methods - he blow dries your hair before he starts!! Great stuff
You look so good without glasses!! this is way better than any salon here in america..
jjowah Too kind!
Gimmeaflakeman where can i buy that same shampoo brush he uses on your hair @21:34?
めっちゃ昔ながらの床屋や~。
Super bon coiffeur
Oh une française :o
What a amazing experience you had.
I've no idea why these types of video help me relax, but they really do. A great clip. I simply cannot find a service this comprehensive in the UK; they simply want you out of the door as fast as possible. This guy took care in everything he did, his pride and professionalism is evident. Bravo.
The vibe from this video reminded me a bit of TANPOPO
how much did you pay for this? :P
Nice it looked so relaxing
This was bloody awesome
Mark Ruffalo look-a-like contest winner?
Asian barber shops are way much better than American ones, went to one in china that had facials and massages too
Love his technique. Reminds me of a barber I went to when I was a kid.
A follow up would be great - his attention to detail and service is 2nd to none. Probably the best hair cut vid on youtube, strangely relaxing to watch and your expressions are hilarious - please please a follow up would be great.
I like how this random barber seems to be listening to a radio channel for anime fans.
i wanna listen lol
he guy is like a freakin surgeon. Looks like he cuts everybody's hair like they're the Japanese Emperor. How much was this?? 5,000 Yen?? More??
and that's why people keep coming back
That is definitely one of the top 10 things I miss from living in Japan - the great, soothing, awesome haircuts from my local barber (in Hashikami, Aomori).
This video was fun and nostalgic for me to watch!
Wow! That video was awesome! Thanks for sharing that. In my visits to Japan, I've often walked by such neighborhood barbershops and wondered what they were like. I never had the chance to try one. The ear cleaning reminded me of when I was a kid. My mother used to do that for us.
around 16:30 i swear you can hear the x files in the background
Ahahah epic
I'd pay $100 for that kind of service.
Incredible precision and speed! The attention to detail is hands down the best ive seen.Amazing really.
Made me sleepy!! Nice job!
1.1 million views for a haircut? interesting
It must feel like time travel going to that barber, it looks like 1975!
elmanitasdeplomo Maybe 1985.
Awesome! You should definitely go back there and make another video at the barbershop!
This gentleman is a true master of his craft. Kudos and 5 stars!
竹内力を柔和にした感じ。黒髪で目も黒いし日本語うまいから英語話さなければ外人とはわからないな。
シャンプー短っ!
