Hi so you actually make these type of animatronics I've been looking for something in particular for a teddy bear my mother made and I want to put up animatronic in it to make the eyes move and the arms and legs move and I wanted it to be remote control is that possible without a cord coming out of it but
It’d be tricky to pull off How big is your teddy? It would probably be easier to make something with a cord Also what are you trying to control with the remote
Unfortunately the manufacturer didn’t make it to easy to get to the eye leds I did replace the leds in mine with neo pixel ones so they can change color Basically you would need to take apart the head and then try and pull apart the eye that has the burned out led ((Basically the manufacturer used these really cheep bright white leds that are identical to ones found in Christmas light strands )) and on top of that, the regulation system to run the leds basically sets it to overload (Leds are really susceptible to burning out if you run them on to high of power )
@@Hawky13 Oh, its such a cool mechanism, I wish I could see it better, like a diagram or something would be nice. I just like to figure out how things work.
@@yeeboi-nm3lk it is neat Definitely worth taking apart if you like looking at mechanics Other people have made similar mechanisms from scratch that have diagrams
My grim's audio just stopped working and you seem like the guy that would be able to help. He was working just fine for a while until I tried to plug in a step pad, and then the audio just stopped working, but everything else kept going. Are you able to tell me how to fix it maybe? I'd appreciate it if you could!
I had bought a store display grim for cheap. His arm with the motor is broken and his servo motor don't work fully. I tried to see if I could buy a replacement head from spirit Halloween but they said they don't have any parts for grim. I sure wish I had the knowledge to replace motors and fix them like you do in your videos. Grim is my favorite prop so far so him not working fully kind of sucks.
I could help you fix the servos for sure (Those you can buy on Amazon or eBay for pretty cheap and would be really simple to replace ) As for the arm it might not be as easy to fix
Really what type would I need to buy. I'm not sure what's wrong with the arm. Its so loose that when I lift it up it just falls back and swings but every once and a while it will lift half way and I can hear it making sounds. The head tilts back and forth fine but has trouble turning left and right. Also sometimes his head goes down to far to where his mouth hits his chest and it's stays like that for a while and then it pops up real fast. I tried seeing if spirit Halloween we do anything for me but it don't look like they will.
I so wish I had the knowledge you do to reprogram animatronic. I've been obsessed with animatronics since I was a kid. Chuck e cheese was my favorite place to go due to the animatronic band but they have now ruined that. Lol
@@brandonwatts1187 really the main thing it took for me was money lol There are a lot of folks who will make things with arduino and program stuff using code What I did is a lot more basic, just the controller I used is expensive
@@brandonwatts1187 look up “mg90s servo” Those are the exact type used in grim You could even get a few with higher quality metal gears for only 5-10 dollars The computer board inside his head is really simple and all you would need to do is locate the servos that are failing and replace them (It’s just a plug and play type thing , no soldering needed)
Ha, just the other day I was wondering what the inside of grim's head looked like
Glad I could properly show you!

I have a Grim head that has a single LED eye not working. Any thoughts or suggestions?

I am happy to walk you through trying to replace them
But ited be tricky
The store I worked at had our display grim with only one lit eye. And the one I bought from another store had the same issue.
@@Hawky13 do you have instructions or pictures that I could get in an email?
@@alucardhellsing666 bad leds
How does the three axis movement come from the servos? They don't even look attached from what you showed.
The servos have a gear attached to each one instead of a regular servo arm
That goes to the black plastic bits which move to main axis

So sorry UA-cam didn’t notify me about your comment!
Grim had a audio output Jack could the step pad have been plugged in there by mistake?
@@Hawky13 No, I had it plugged in the right slot. He works now, thankfully, but only on constant motion.
