""" This is not a premium channel so you are not going to get premium content """ Are you kidding me ? I live in the UK so many of the cars you work on I wont ever see let alone work on... Im missing a really great film on the telly because Im watching you,,, So my answer to you Eric , yes it is..Ive looked at most of the mechanics on here and the UA-cam garage.. You sir are addictive, You sir have a very beautiful wife and daughter, ..The amount of time videoing, editing, outtakes camera positioning and uploading is staggering.. Thats a lot of time and effort , just of us...This channel isn't premium its PLATINUM .
Agree totally. I've learned so much from eric, it's begun to alter my approach to vehicle diagnosis and repair. Its unbelieveable the level of detail vehicles are designed with today, so that requires a highly detailed mechanic for diagnosis and repairs. Eric does an amazing job illustrating his D&R, and that to me makes this a very addictive PLATINUM channel.
This is the quality guy we need in every town in the US. He does the stuff no one else wants to do, and then videos the process. Ethical, conscientious, and hard working. Eric, you are truly a model for everyone, and we all love the videos. Thank you so much for your dedicated time and efforts. Best content on UA-cam by far! Superb!
Eric says, "This is not a premium channel so you are not going to get premium content." I love this. Many of the *great* artists say this same thing. To make a great film in any medium--theatrical film, television, UA-cam--you need a dozen or more specialists. e.g. cameraman, lighting, audio, script writer, screen play writer, star-actor, editor, director. There is a distinct Oscar award for all of these professions, since they are all hard and are all essential. The reason I became a monetary supporter of South Main Auto Repair, is that the large team of people who work on these videos are all the best in their professions, and each and every video they make is superb. Of course all of these many people are Eric O. It is an extraordinary thing to watch his output, particularly because he is unaware of what an exceptional act of genius each of these is. In addition the family bits he includes are so heartwarming, and his extreme excellence as a Master Mechanic is a joy to watch. Talk about giving the customer the best you can, and Eric O. is the canonical example.
You make some really good videos. I think it's great that your phone rings, the doorbell goes off, and people are coming and going at your place. That is what keeps you in business. Seeing your other half, helping you is nice too. Thanks for showing us all how things work, and sharing your time. Take care, and please keep making videos, if you can.
A very good alternate for silicone is Three Bond 1184. It remains pliable and can take several hundred degrees of heat. The beauty of Three Bond is that whatever migrates out of the gasket surfaces breaks down into very small soft granules that will not plug pumps or galleries or harm bearings. Several builders use it for motorcycle engines and have great success with it under severe racing conditions without failure.
Agreed 100%, I love the stuff also sold as YamahaBond and Hondabond. The other sealant (in my opinion the correct one) for Transfer cases is Loctite 518 Gasket Maker Flange Sealant. I build and repair a lot of Chainsaws and Three Bond has never failed me.
I love your videos, interruptions are part of working on cars! It always happens. The fact that you don’t cut them all out, makes your videos the best I’ve seen, hands down, they’re genuine and I for one appreciate every bit of it! THANK YOU!
Not bad!! Thanks for the lessons on the Transfer Case. I have a 98 K1500 Z71 and I rarely use the 4WD, but it has come in handy quite a few times. Nice to know how it works. I just have to say... Is anyone else not bothered by the phone and doorbell? I'd be the last subscriber hanging on that Eric mentioned, because they do not bother me at all!
your videos can never be too long as you make them very easy to understand what is being done even for people like me who always took cars down to walmart for oil changes now am under there draining and changing it myself its quite enjoyable
That's funny about the door bell & phone..to me that's a good thing it means your a great mechanic and everybody trust you to work on there vehicles..I don't mind the door bell or phone on the videos..😄
The Door Bell and the Phone do not bother me. I like them. 1st. It means you have customers. 2nd. Customers = work for the shop. 3rd. Work for the shop = You Tube videos. Thank you for making the vids. Very entertaining!
ERIC. feeling your frustration over filming this. It was obvious you were kinda questioning if it was worth it. But. I for one truly appreciate the time and effort you put into your videos I do not make vids and do not understand fully all involved but do know it is not easy. So all is appreciated and your channel is one of the best informative mechanical channels to view. :)
Eric, our friend from Canada (Steve Rob) told me that this was a premium channel. I will have to agree with him. Nice video! I understand now how a transfer case goes back together. The only thing I can see that was lost from the deleted disassembly video. Was the verbal interaction from you. I hate to miss any interaction that might make me laugh! LOL! I learned a lot though. Also great seeing Mrs O. Even though it was a short visit. You keep putting up the videos and I will keep watching.
in the age of scrap and replace this video is refreshing. great work eric.... from number 1 uk fan. Oh and pat on the back for animal charity giving, I do the same.
OK I'm officially the last guy staying around until the end! ring ring ding ding great video Dr O!And I am glad you did this part even though the 1st part was lost.
wow I was lost after you put the first part in. What an amazing job and bloody difficult too, it's very impressive so now your a gearbox repair guy to, does your list of talents never end. Not only that but you have to work with someone gabbling in your ear whilst your trying to concentrate, but you are so patient listening and talking with the guy, I often wonder why people have to do that and not sit patiently for your attention, but you handle all interruptions well. Another lovely video from the greatest mechanic ever. If this isn't premium content I wonder how much more you can put into a non premium video.
1st class job You are a clever bugger really when you aren't goofin' around. Trying to convince us your not What ever your hourly rate it your worth it an then some, I'd reckon . Finding a good mechanic is one of life's musts .Retail parks nah, schools maybe pubs I don't drink Doc's possibly A 1st class mechanic a must nothing else matters other than may be a sparky and plumber Your town should consider its self lucky Take care to you and yours Eric
Many people don't realize that the edges on the ID portion of any snap ring has two finishes so to speak. If you run your finger on the inner edge, one side has a crisper 90 degree cut and the opposite side is not as as a crisp cut as the other. The sharp edge of the snap ring is the load retention side. Just rub your finger on each edge on the ID of the snap ring to find it. One side is sharper than the other, and that is your load side. It may not seem much, but I have never heard this mentioned from even the most talented of any videos similar to this one. I learned this in school for Hobart Food Equipment in Troy, Ohio. Grab one to see if you can differentiate the difference. Keep on trucking Eric O!!!
I'm enjoying going back through the older videos. I always learn something. Rather than fixing these issues, I mostly just select vehicles with few problems and take care of the maintenance.
this channel should have way more subscribers, i've seen videos where people mumble through the whole thing and the editing is shit, one time a guy dropped the camera and didn't even pick it up for 2 whole minutes and it made the cut, and somehow end up getting like 200k views, meanwhile you have possibly one of the best auto repair channels out there and its a hidden gem in youtube
+Samuel Gonzalez Thanks man, it is the crappy videos that inspire me to try to make some better. It is a bit frustrating when you are on a YT how to vid and ya cant see a dang thing happening or the vid is shaking so bad you get sea sick :)
+Samuel Gonzalez It also helps that Eric does things properly so you can trust the information. It's not some hack cutting a hole in something to get quicker access or any other half-assed attempt of repair, so you pretty much wasted your time watching the video because you want to do things right.
Man your info on this rebuild EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SECOND PART..IS INVALUABLE.I am about a week away from re-building my transfer case..your info gave me some very important knowledge..thanks man..the black silicone in the pick up screen is from the factory..you and about six or seven other channels that have a video about re-building the New Process GM 261&263 etc ..show the black silicone as it has plugged up the screen filter this starving the unit of proper lubrication.. end result ...🔥
Like "we" said in your previous video. If you accidentally delete or format the data isn't gone. It's just not indexed. As long as you don't record (write) over the old forgotten data you can still recover it, a process that once started takes no more than a minute. This is why for sensitive (top secret etc, like your porn folder) data needs to be deleted through very elaborate or physical processes when it comes to storage mediums. For instance, if you want to re-use the storage medium you delete the file with a program that overwrites the data with random bytes several times over. Because even if you overwrite data once there's still trace amounts of magnetic or similar fields of the old data. It is possible to restore even overwritten data but that process takes a very long time. And if one doesn't want to re-use the storage medium you shred it in a metal shredder. Depending on how sensitive the data is, shredding can be done to where you have 16th of an inch big pieces of the storage medium left. And if you are really paranoid, melting it down ensures complete deletion. Then there's degaussing which applies such a strong magnetic field that all data wipes irrecoverably which also damages the storage medium. Again, you can degauss several times if paranoid and then shred and melt and send on a rocket to the sun... All depends on the contents of your porn folder. ;) ...... But yeah, a simple format doesn't mean the data is gone. You can recover it really quickly with the right program. Many of which exist as free to use software. So please, next time you accidentally format your card. Recover it before you record on it again.
+Cadde Or for a comparison that may lie closer to heart... "OOOOPS, i filled my diesel tank with petrol... Well, off to the scrap heap the car goes!" When in reality, as long as you didn't start the engine (to varying degrees) you can still salvage your mistake. A diesel tank full of petrol can still be flushed. Right?
+Cadde A lot of guys mentioned that in the first vid but at that point I had all ready wrote over the card several time. Ohhh BTW I don't have a porn folder. I have a gorgeous loving wife....
I just watch all the diag videos incase I have symptoms I'll be on the up and up, I'm by far no mechanic but I'm good at taking stuff apart..all my works done in the shade. This is probably the most in depth knowledgable channels I've came across
Thank you so much! I had my chevy 2500hd with the NP263XHD rub a hole in the case and self destruct. The primary failure was a needle bearing on the planetary assembly. They do make a funny squeal when one of those bearings lock up and spin the shaft while going down the freeway. I was able to order the parts and do the complete rebuild myself thanks to your video. It ended up being about half the cost of a newly rebuilt transfercase.
Before I could afford a bushing driver set I used expandable freeze plugs and they worked great. The rubber held the bushing from collapsing and the metal disc pushed the bushing in with no damage and they're still under $5 today. Learned that from a 45 yr crusty mechanic when I was a teenager and started working at a garage & now I am the 40 yr crusty mechanic so for the DIY or young mechanic starting out there is my tip I'm passing on. I'll stay watching when I'm not working on cars myself b/c the ringing & beeping is the sound of a busy SMA making $$ to pay the bills and the videos are edited so I don't get it.. Charlie Chaplan would be proud of you for the engine download B&W video & music. Great video as always!
+South Main Auto Repair Thanks but I pass this credit on to a 70 yr old mechanic named Irwin that showed me so many tips. He taught me if you couldn't afford the specialty tools how to think outside the box and use what you have available so I am passing it on like he did for me. He was retiring about 6 months after I started working there so he tried to teach me as much as he could and pass on all his tricks he learned along the way. He was a great mechanic but he taught me some bad tricks also like how to charge up condensers on the distributor machine and put them on your bench and parts counter waiting for some poor unsuspecting person to come up and grab it and get shocked...simple things amused us. We had an overhead oil dispenser that could pump in 5 qts in seconds and if one of the other mechanics was getting smart we'd fill up their back pocket with a couple qts. We had fun at work!
Don't know if I mentioned it before but I learned myself a tip to keep squeezed silicon from breaking off inside cases and then plugging the oil filter. notice the inside edges of the case halves are really sharp. Chamfer those a bit so they are not sharp. two benefits are they are less likely to cut you and the sealant fills up the "V" instead of squeezing out in a fine ribbon that can then break off easily.
Thank you so much for making these videos Eric. I know it's hard work (and IMHO you still take way too good care of us viewers, not that it's a bad thing) but you stick it through til the end for us so again muchos gracias!
1:09:40 I feel like he meant NP205. Probably one of the most commonly used all gear transfer cases out there. 202 does exist, but not terribly common. I think the 202 is larger than the 205. Space constrained Jeep might make it a challenging fit.
Aren't you glad you're not wrenching on those Peterbuilts and Kenworths? Big money but heavy work and headaches. You make everything look easy and that's great for video's. Wish I lived a little closer to you Eric.
Good silicone for the case would be "The Right Stuff" - Black. Once applied, it needs to be assembled within 5 minutes. You can fill the case after about an hour, and it seals very well. That stuff holds on tight. It's a pain to remove, but it stays put and won't float off once applied and dried. I just did a timing chain on my 2013 Kia Soul, and the timing cover case needed to be sealed off. It did the trick.
Hey Eric i am 16 years old and i just started going to college to be an auto tech this year. I was able to graduate high school early because i was homeschooled. As cheesy as it sounds i just wanted you to know you are one of my biggest role models and i really appreciate all the effort you have put into these videos. I'm not far from having watched every single one of them from beginning to end. I have learned a ton from your videos and i was curious as to how you started out as a technician and what advice you would have for someone my age trying to get into the field?
Watching you install the seals, and you saying to be careful installing the seal so the spring does not jump out. I was taught by an old timer (which is kinda funny because I have been a wrench since the 60'S) to pack the spring side of the seal with grease. This method has worked for me for many years & have not popped the spring out installing the seal.
Let me tell how much money you saved me with this video. I am an industrial mechanic but have never taken a transfer case apart. After watching this video I was able to replace my NP261 pump. Later I pulled it back apart and did a complete reman. Your camera angles and tutorials while you’re wrenching are first class. Thank you! 🙏🏼
Great video again Eric. On the plus side, maybe you could get sponsorship from a doorbell manufacturer? You could showcase the very latest in door chime technology!
Great video! This is the first video that I’ve watched that addressed the jingling sound . I’ve talked to several mechanics and got nowhere. You talk to us and tell us what , why and how to get R done. ( Sorry, I had to😁) I’ve learned so much from you. Now I’m gonna tackle my 261. Thank you, Eric!
South Main Auto Repair Wow what a great video seen a lot of your videos you have so much vast knowledge! Have you worked in a shop that specialised in diffs and transmissions?
Just rebuilt my NP261 HD and if you work on dirt bikes a fork seal driver tool works on most of the large seals for this case and it works as a support for when you have it on the bench. Great video, you remind me of a good friend of mine who is also a mechanic.
Great video Eric! a family member worked for GM and went to Shanghai China to get a "building" to build GM engines in China! go figure. Made in America parts are very hard to find. Vehicles prices sure don't reflect the cheap China garbage parts you get from a dealership. They still sell a vehicle at top dollar.
Eric I have been a tech for 7 years now, and I must say your videos are awesome. I especially like the real world stuff like yourdoorbell and phone. Can't believe someone would unsubscribe because of that being in your vids - that's where the money comes from peeps! "torqued to factory specs" - I love it man. I gotta go into my own 261 Transfer Case sometime if I ever get the time - the mode syncro is shot but no leaks and otherwise quiet. Before this vid I was gonna swap it out with a reman, but now I'm inspired ha ha . I've watched more of your channel than the garbage that's on TV these days. A real big shout out to South Main Auto.
+Geoff Forster just remember if you get in there and have to change the main shaft that they have updated it with a new one. Should be a TSB out on it if I remember right :) Glad you like the show.
+South Main Auto Repair Thanks Eric for the heads up I'll check bulletins before tearin' into her. I'm hoping I can get away with just a syncro inner and outer cone set as it has never been grinding, just blocks the shift unless vehicle at a complete standstill. Tried shift on the hoist and that syncro doesn't even have enough friction to spin up the front driveshaft.
My fuse was actually blown! i changed the switch 3 times and it would work for a while then kick into service 4wd before it finally stopped working and now i know why! Thank you!!!
I use to buy my Bearings from the Dealer too, until I went one day to a Bearing dealer! They always matched up the Bearings because they did not have Bearings just made for vehicles, but they always gave me what I needed at much better cost big time! Just a thought.
This is the last SMA video left for me to see before I'm all reruns, all the time, every time. If ever anyone says to me "mechanics are dumb" I'll promptly direct them to Eric O and specifically this video. Eric, you're a brilliant dude. Man!! I'm so freakin inspired by you. This is PREMIUM content, bro. I'm definitely making an appointment in the future for *something* just so I can make the 4.5 hour trek from Philly to meet you. You're the John Bonham of auto techs.
More and More Anaerobic Sealant is making its way in main stream auto making. Im not sure I agree with all the hype but if the premise is solid, AKA, if it is a fact that it only hardens under the pressure surfaces. I have seen residual ( the squeezed out product) just as hard inside the engine and outside the engine, just as solid as Ultra Black Grey or other performance sealant (RTV). Anyone else have any thoughts or experiences with these sealants? Thanks for the Videos
This video was great Mr O! I've always wanted to see the guts of a transfer case and you delivered. Also, no apologies for the interruptions. At the end of the day you have a business to run and a family to feed!👍🏼🇺🇸
great vid eric......but you think when you got the truck all back together you could have tore it all back down just to show us..............just saying lol
I've been watching your videos for some time and they have inspired me to start a little business on the side, since I have a full time job, but I enjoy turning wrenches and getting dirty. Your videos have kept me up to date with scanners and how to use them, plus professionalism when doing the job the right way, and not using the old strip-thread trick. I worked on my friend's 1992 Mustang GT today, after doing some research on the net, and now the word is spreading around. I'll be visiting your site on a regular basis. Thanks, Bill's Hi-Tech Advanced Auto Repair. I am not that Hi-Tech or advanced yet, but I plan on getting there.
@@harveysmith100 You really want to mess with a new guy in the shop? Ask him to grab your crescent wrench, then when he comes back with it yell at him "No, the Metric one!"
I've recently started watching your videos and have to say they are the best on UA-cam. The doorbell and noises just make it feel real. As a new tech your videos have helped me out alot. Keep on doing what your doing
This was the first SMA video I watched... I rebuilt my personal NP261LD transfer case in the process! Helped me a lot... saved a ton of time! We also own a 2009 Honda Odyssey it's my wife's daily driver same as Mrs. O!!! those videos have helped me tremendously as well... Thanks man... great videos... you're my favorite yankee! haha
Well done Eric, the good thing about your vids is it shows how busy a shop can get and how you prioritise your jobs. It's nice to watch a real auto garage at work warts and all. Kind regards Tassie John
There's a difference between Wing Wang parts made in China and Wing Wong parts made in China. I'm sure the GM parts made in China are made at the Wing Wang factory, because you don't want to use the Wong parts in a GM. LMAO
Wet silicone, the clip not cooperating and the guy with the engine! My heart was beating,I was getting frustrated and then the clip snapped in,bolts installed, good lord, more suspense than a horror movie! Phewwww! Well done!
+brian0918 You git outta here! "Thet thar "hoodie" or "T" is headed north o' the border.... I have devised a wave form/flow chart that will allow me to de-sub and then re-sub @ approx . the 3 second mark and "snipe" it right oot from under ye
I get parts for my VW like water pump and serpentine belt tensioner and they're expensive, but they still say "Made in Germany" and the quality shows. And maybe no more expensive than Genuine OEM GM parts.
+Garth Goldberg The seals in this t-case were like 60 bucks each... GM and their China crap is getting out of hand. Glad I drive a good American made Honda I tell ya that!
The most "American" car is the Toyota Camry (80% USA content). I'd buy one-it's a great transportation appliance-but I think the Honda Accord is a little more of a driver's car, and also Made in Ohio.

It may not seem much, but I have never heard this mentioned from even the most talented of any videos similar to this one.
I learned this in school for Hobart Food Equipment in Troy, Ohio.
Grab one to see if you can differentiate the difference.
Keep on trucking Eric O!!!
Just run this video in reverse and call it part 1. After all we WILL watch anything you post. ;)
+David Kupferman + Good one David.
I like that idea of rerunning the video in reverse to remake a part one.
I'm enjoying going back through the older videos. I always learn something. Rather than fixing these issues, I mostly just select vehicles with few problems and take care of the maintenance.
The door bell and phone add a bit of suspense to the video. Glad we get to see the assembly transfer cases are a bit of a mystery to me.
Not only are you a top notch mechanic, but a great video producer too. I loved the Buster Keaton era footage.
I have been watching for about year Love Your Show , Should Be On T.V. Keep UP THE GREAT JOB
This is the most premium channel I know of. I wouldn't rather watch any other repair channel. Ever. Please keep doing what you do best.
this channel should have way more subscribers, i've seen videos where people mumble through the whole thing and the editing is shit, one time a guy dropped the camera and didn't even pick it up for 2 whole minutes and it made the cut, and somehow end up getting like 200k views, meanwhile you have possibly one of the best auto repair channels out there and its a hidden gem in youtube
All depends on the contents of your porn folder. ;)
......
Well, off to the scrap heap the car goes!"
When in reality, as long as you didn't start the engine (to varying degrees) you can still salvage your mistake. A diesel tank full of petrol can still be flushed. Right?
+Cadde A lot of guys mentioned that in the first vid but at that point I had all ready wrote over the card several time. Ohhh BTW I don't have a porn folder. I have a gorgeous loving wife....
Eric. To come back to a job after a week, is truly amazing. Just need a bigger work bench, with room to set out parts & tools.
Yes Eric......Time to go home. Too bad about part 1. Excellent as usual.
I just watch all the diag videos incase I have symptoms I'll be on the up and up, I'm by far no mechanic but I'm good at taking stuff apart..all my works done in the shade. This is probably the most in depth knowledgable channels I've came across
We should start a "go fund me" page to buy Eric a 55 gallon drum of brake cleaner !
+theoldwizard998 Hahah ahhh brake clean :)
+Robert Hayward + Good tip Robert, thanks.
+Robert Hayward That is a fantastic tip, thank you!
+Cadde Hey no prob, I am fixing this stuff any how, might better film it right?
Man. I am sooo addicted to this channel.
1:09:40 I feel like he meant NP205. Probably one of the most commonly used all gear transfer cases out there. 202 does exist, but not terribly common. I think the 202 is larger than the 205. Space constrained Jeep might make it a challenging fit.
Yeah, big fan of np 205
Aren't you glad you're not wrenching on those Peterbuilts and Kenworths? Big money but heavy work and headaches. You make everything look easy and that's great for video's. Wish I lived a little closer to you Eric.
I think with everyone watching your videos we need to buy stock in Break Cleaner as you started a trend!!
I have learned a ton from your videos and i was curious as to how you started out as a technician and what advice you would have for someone my age trying to get into the field?
can i have some update about your choice? just curious.
Yeah what happened with everything 🤔
He probably does butt-massage now as most of them tiktok videos open them youngens up to a whole new dimension of career choices.
CONTINUOUS exposure to real world is beyond valuable..... classroom, real ojt, or Eric + SMA
Hello?
Watching you install the seals, and you saying to be careful installing the seal so the spring does not jump out. I was taught by an old timer (which is kinda funny because I have been a wrench since the 60'S) to pack the spring side of the seal with grease. This method has worked for me for many years & have not popped the spring out installing the seal.
A great video as always. Another good lesson. Thanks!!
Learning from this channel is priceless knowledge. Really can’t put a price on it, and with the amount of detail, it’s like you’re right there helping
Best video. For transfer case keep it. Simple Great Job
Thank you! 🙏🏼
you're awesome Eric!! you're vids are so good
Love Eric's videos it's a shame that he lost the first part but he done very well with explains things in this one. Cheers Eric!
Nothing better than SMA for how to fix cars. Eric, thank you for your great content!
Great video again Eric. On the plus side, maybe you could get sponsorship from a doorbell manufacturer? You could showcase the very latest in door chime technology!
+risc19 Haha hmmm no auto channel has done a door bell review yet have they?
Great video! This is the first video that I’ve watched that addressed the jingling sound . I’ve talked to several mechanics and got nowhere. You talk to us and tell us what , why and how to get R done. ( Sorry, I had to😁)
I’ve learned so much from you. Now I’m gonna tackle my 261. Thank you, Eric!
Expert!!
+FordTechMakuloco Hey Brian good seeing you here, thanks man!
South Main Auto Repair Wow what a great video seen a lot of your videos you have so much vast knowledge! Have you worked in a shop that specialised in diffs and transmissions?
Van isn't even in yet
I like to see new brakes systems
@@SouthMainAuto also I like that a woman change brakes for I like that
I just finished rebuilding my NP 261 HD transfer case today. Thank you so much!
I love how whenever you smack a bolt down with an impact you always say "Make sure to torque that to spec"
+AvidAviator you need to listen close for the click...
Just rebuilt my NP261 HD and if you work on dirt bikes a fork seal driver tool works on most of the large seals for this case and it works as a support for when you have it on the bench. Great video, you remind me of a good friend of mine who is also a mechanic.
If u had an np205......u wouldn't of had to rebuild it
Great video Eric! a family member worked for GM and went to Shanghai China to get a "building" to build GM engines in China! go figure. Made in America parts are very hard to find. Vehicles prices sure don't reflect the cheap China garbage parts you get from a dealership. They still sell a vehicle at top dollar.
+eric smith buy low sell high, it is the American way!
Tried shift on the hoist and that syncro doesn't even have enough friction to spin up the front driveshaft.
good to have metric crescent wrench!!!
My fuse was actually blown! i changed the switch 3 times and it would work for a while then kick into service 4wd before it finally stopped working and now i know why! Thank you!!!
Love rebuilding transfer cases, but not the smell of gear oil. This video needs some more door bell! Lol
+JD A Haha oht he dreaded door bell!
I got the fever. The fever for more doorbell.
sma is the best car repair channel on youtube hands down
so... GM China division was snowed in? lol
+Grease Munkee HAha right!?
I use to buy my Bearings from the Dealer too, until I went one day to a Bearing dealer! They always matched up the Bearings because they did not have Bearings just made for vehicles, but they always gave me what I needed at much better cost big time! Just a thought.
I’m gonna try this!
"oh she's a squitter" LoL I lost it. That was from the 14 year old part of my brain sorry. Keep up the great work. Great videos.
Permatex Anaerobic Gasket Maker
51817 or 51813
Ever tried that for transfer case halves ?
+pc zapp Use it here and there yes
More and More Anaerobic Sealant is making its way in main stream auto making. Im not sure I agree with all the hype but if the premise is solid, AKA, if it is a fact that it only hardens under the pressure surfaces. I have seen residual ( the squeezed out product) just as hard inside the engine and outside the engine, just as solid as Ultra Black Grey or other performance sealant (RTV). Anyone else have any thoughts or experiences with these sealants?
Thanks for the Videos
Yea this is not premium this is the ultimate channel!!!!
"You're gonna want to torque that to specs", rails on it with the impact wrench...
+Pete Wall click...
It's always hilarious to hear "you're going to want to torque that to spec" followed by a blast from the impact. ;) Gets me every time.
+lhutton If you listen close you can hear the click :)
South Main Auto Repair: More Betterness
+Rodrigo Sagebin :)
+fenx1200 That is good to hear Bill, I wish you the best in our new endeavor :)
"She's a squirter"
I just spat my coffee out laughing! Also, what model is your metric crescent wrench?
Great video, very funny Mr O! We watch what you post because it is all good stuff!
+Toyota Tech gotta watch out or you will get blasted :)
As a ball park figure, all Cresent wrenches are metric after 1998.
@@harveysmith100 You really want to mess with a new guy in the shop? Ask him to grab your crescent wrench, then when he comes back with it yell at him "No, the Metric one!"
Bing bing. Gotta love the noises of a busy shop.
NP 205
I've recently started watching your videos and have to say they are the best on UA-cam. The doorbell and noises just make it feel real. As a new tech your videos have helped me out alot. Keep on doing what your doing
“lemmie go grab the torque wrench”
hahahaha i knew you were going to grab an impact
This was the first SMA video I watched... I rebuilt my personal NP261LD transfer case in the process! Helped me a lot... saved a ton of time! We also own a 2009 Honda Odyssey it's my wife's daily driver same as Mrs. O!!! those videos have helped me tremendously as well... Thanks man... great videos... you're my favorite yankee! haha
Awesome video! Any chance you know how to fix a vw quantum synchro?
+goodguy555 I don't know what that is but I'd be willing to tear it apart...
+South Main Auto Repair good, I think schrodinger needs some help. Hahaha
goodguy555 Nah he is premium with a pay channel... much better than me. My stuff is only free.
Well done Eric, the good thing about your vids is it shows how busy a shop can get and how you prioritise your jobs. It's nice to watch a real auto garage at work warts and all. Kind regards Tassie John
+John Kinnane Thanks John!
There's a difference between Wing Wang parts made in China and Wing Wong parts made in China. I'm sure the GM parts made in China are made at the Wing Wang factory, because you don't want to use the Wong parts in a GM. LMAO
Ha ha!
There are over 6000 Wong parts in the parts manual, that's a lot of Wong numbers
Wong parts! Now that's funny, even if it is a 2 year old post. lol
Cheap Chinese parts are made because we buy them. The Chinese are fast learners and can make quality stuff too. Just watch them !
If they were any worse than locally made GM wouldn't use them.
They are not stupid.
Wet silicone, the clip not cooperating and the guy with the engine! My heart was beating,I was getting frustrated and then the clip snapped in,bolts installed, good lord, more suspense than a horror movie!
Phewwww! Well done!
You should do something special when you hit 25,000 subscribers!
+brian0918 You git outta here! "Thet thar "hoodie" or "T" is headed north o' the border.... I have devised a wave form/flow chart that will allow me to de-sub and then re-sub @ approx . the 3 second mark and "snipe" it right oot from under ye
+brian0918 Yea he should have his hair dyed brown, 36 yrs old and looking like father time. "ding dong" enter sandman.
+James Schrumm That trait is part of his character- just like the "color pattern" of your avatar dog. We all have nuances that make us unique.
Right like father time. And a dog.
brian0918 already over 100k now... how time flies
Eric shows us how to fix it. Mrs.O keeps him out of trouble.😂 Eric, you would be lost without her.🤣
I get parts for my VW like water pump and serpentine belt tensioner and they're expensive, but they still say "Made in Germany" and the quality shows. And maybe no more expensive than Genuine OEM GM parts.
+Garth Goldberg The seals in this t-case were like 60 bucks each... GM and their China crap is getting out of hand. Glad I drive a good American made Honda I tell ya that!
+South Main Auto Repair Geez, I was right. That is just as expensive as Made in Germany.
+South Main Auto Repair Our next car is going to be a Made in Ohio Honda.
+Garth Goldberg Good, better off not buying this GM Chinese stuff lol
The most "American" car is the Toyota Camry (80% USA content). I'd buy one-it's a great transportation appliance-but I think the Honda Accord is a little more of a driver's car, and also Made in Ohio.
I've swapped out a couple transfer cases, thanks for taking the time to record this
