I was at the aircraft expo. Didn't realize it was your TBM I was checking out. lol. Nice quick flight, done it many times during my PPL training. Goes a lot quicker in the TBM of course. As others have mentioned, the 31 runway doesn't actually begin until the threshold (the arrows leading up to it are yellow instead of white). My understanding is it designed this way to protect the local wildlife from prop wash. But it's a short runway for the TBM, so nobody is going to fault you for making use of every inch of pavement available.

Sometimes, short flights, especially those between very busy controlled airports, require attention. Thanks you for sharing this video.

Amazing pilotage. Non pilots, I presume, would not recognize how intense a short flight like that is. So much going on in such a short time. You made it look easy! Hoping to see you sometime at TRM.

I was impressed with all that you were able to do so quickly with such a short flight. Everything was happening so fast, but you managed to stay ahead of the airplane. It’s something I try to keep drilling into my own head. Stay ahead of the plane Russ! Anyway, thanks for sharing.

Things definitely happen a lot faster in the TBM, even more so on a short flight like this. It's why I ended up taking more mentor hours than insurance recommended.

I really like your videos. I live in the East Bay and enjoy your travels in and out of Bay Area airports. (Also, I like flying the TBM 930 in MSFS 2020, and I learn so much from your flights and views of the cockpit, along with your communications with ATC.) Thanks.

That was quite a busy cockpit there for a while. I find it a bit stressful when you have to copy ATIS while listening to the destination tower at the same time.
Nice approach, timed perfectly. You actually didn't get lined up with the centerline until you were halfway between the fence and the threshold, but you made it look as easy as if you were lined up a mile out.

Hi Marcin! As always, thanks for sharing! I’d like you to consider sharing full length flights from a window view. No commentary, no editing, just the full reel. The TBM always offer such great views. 😊

Thanks, Marcin, for another great video, all be it a short one I always enjoy your flights. Was interesting to hear her barking about a taxiway when you did a full stop prior to taking off, I could understand her barking at you if you didn't stop thinking you were still on a taxiway. Thanks for the quickie. In all the videos that you have posted you're always on a mission meaning your flights are for a purpose like horse show, snowboarding, maintenance and so on. Do you ever just think to yourself I need to get away from the daily grind and give the plane a workout, go do some sightseeing, no IFR, just the enjoyment of flying?

Heh, a DPE failed a ppl candidate at KPAO because they took off from the taxiway instead of taxiing up to the runway threshold. However, literally everyone does that. So, that's why your plane was telling you taxiway. Technically it is still a taxiway. Pretty smart plane!

  • @jadeng1147

8:22, well, technically the part you began your takeoff roll on is a taxi way, albeit a very small one. Given the small runway for the TBM I and likely most pilots would do the same, that is to use all available pavement in order to take off. However, in the "by the books case" you would ideally start your takeoff at the white arrows before the threshold. TL;DR, I would've done exactly the same, but thats why the plane was complaining at you.

Marcin, I have noticed in several of your videos that your glare shield, right where the HomeSafe button is, appears to be pulsating. In this video, it starts at the 08:01 mark. I'm curious, is the glare shield actually pulsating, or is it an artifact of the recording?

I miss the days when Pilots were actually PILOTS, and not button pushing systems managers who fold up and act like deer in the headlights when their precious electronics go Tango Uniform. Who knows how to figure true course vs magnetic course in their head, or what heading do they need to intercept a given radial at a particular distance from a fix?
I just watched a video where a pilot with all the bells and whistles of today killed themselves because they couldn't FLY THE AIRCRAFT... Geez... Hammer

I'm pretty sure Marcin hand-flew that rather busy KPAO KSJC flight, in a relatively fast turbine no less. As for automation, I'll take an RNAV LPV over a VOR APPROACH any day, if we're talking about safety margins. Times change; technology improves.
