It's not a sleeper, not with FOUR bloody exhausts, one for each cylinder pmsl, ridiculous. My M140i only has 2 exhausts for 6 cylinders, now that IS a sleeper.
Yes the S3 is great for traffic light racing, but the ones I have driven, have had lifeless steering, and when pushing on, just want to under steer straight on, instead of turning, no thanks.
I know it's a haldex but that does allow up to 50% to the rear wheels if the fronts break traction. That's enough to get a great launch every time (no interest in track days or powerslides anymore, just fast driving).
I love this car's design philosophy. Understated speed and handlingis the best.

I got the saloon version in April this year, it's called Ara Blue. In my opinion it looks even better at night or under dull light the "crystal" paint pops amazingly!!
Its purely functional, as you can simply run down to WalMart and grab a can of spray paint off the shelf to touch up scratches.
Even d Daytona Grey looks amazing 😆
I don't sure but i think that this is "Sepangblue".
This blue (as with many other colors of paint on cars) looks a lot better in real life then on camera .... just thought you should know.
A true jack of all trades, the S3 - LURVE its looks, interior, sound, performance, subtlety, even the price is barely more than a Golf R for a classier and (IMO) nicer package 👍 I reckon the S3 is the ULTIMATE daily 👌

I have owned my facelift S3 saloon for just over a year now and absolutely love it. For the money, it’s a dream.
The 0-60 is faster than audi claims in the DRY and this was in the wet 😂😂

I always found the A3/S3's a bit bumpy and understeering. Didn't quite like the way the steering wheel feels. Not much response from there. But they have always been great fun to throw around and I love the interior, esp. the virtual cockpit is a joy to see in action.
This is the ultimate representation of usable power. It'll feel fast in every situation and honestly, do you really need 300+ HP? I mean, I was in the 150 HP model of the car and with that brilliant transmission, even that was seriously quick.
am i the only one who likes the sportback a/s/rs 3 over the sedan?
I love the Sportsback, unfortunately I can only get the sedan in Canada :(

followed one on my bike for a few mins and can confirm they do take off fast and corner very well. yep, they are nice.

Finally you make a video on it. I was looking for your video before I bought, had it for nearly a year now but still watched it. Need more sound though so looking a the FL RS3 Saloon next. If anyone is wondering, city driving you'll get around 20-25 MPG but on the motorway, I've gotten 43 MPG before. I would have went manual gearbox but I checked the forums before hand and a lot of early clutch replacements put me off it. Manual mode on S-tronic is annoying too with its restrictions.
Can you do a comparison with the rs3 like you did with the s5 and rs5? Is it worth the extra money for an rs3

Can’t believe it still clocked 4,5 to 60 in rain. Lovely looking car. I have the 2.0 TDI and love that. But this is probably going to be my next audi. Plus if you were to get a stage 1 map it would be even better 🤗

Great review, picking mine up on Saturday (Jan 27) Going straight to APR for a stage II tune. Certainly will be a sub 4 second car. Can't wait! Near 400Hp and over 409 Ft lbs Torque!

The "s" on the gear stick is on all automatics and the "s" on the wheel is included in the s-line trim as well.

There's nothing sleeper in the german cars with big engines. Sure it might surprise a person not interest in cars but for car guys they are instantly noticeble differences.

Is the MPG you get in Carwow’s videos UK MPG or US MPG. I noticed there is a slight difference between the two.
I loved my S3, like you say even in the bad weather it grips and goes like stink!
It has quickly got boring to drive, other than over taking and on some twisty roads.
Im planning on changing for something else this year.

I have a 2012 A3 8P now with 2.0TDI Quattro, the S3 will positively be the next car, but i will go for the sedan model, so much car with power for a good price!

I think it’s also a sleeper given the fact it has an under-rated power of 340bhp and 500nm’s.. oh, and a silky smooth turbo 6 engine. No other hot hatch has one of those! The 1series is a horrible thing to sit in, the only thing worse than sitting in the front is sitting in the back, no room at all, you have the drivetrain tunnel down the middle and then the rear wheel arch encroaching on the rear seats. Terrible car.
Jabber 1974 Joe Achilles is over 6ft and he has no issues. Maybe you’re sitting in it wrong? Or are a giant. You’re literally the only person I’ve heard say that.
Glad to see it's got indicators. Are they easy to use? Does all the tech stop a fair percentage of drivers from assuming every other road user doesnt exist?

Yes, they’re a very fast car and you do feel the whip back for sure 👍🏻
Can you review the saloon version of the A3 or S3?
The S on the gearbox is also included in some A3 models( like Ambition)

I thought the S3 was just a golf R and I heard somewhere that it uses the VW All Wheel drive system. If that's true, then this S3 does pretty well.

Its a brilliant car no doubt (I'd love to own one), but the most important question which you didn't answer is, is it worth to spend almost twice and buy the RS3 or save a load of cash and buy this S3 instead.
S3 is NOT. And never will be a sleeper. Everyone is suspicious of Audi being fast...even slow ones lol

Exactly. It has badges all over and 4 tail pipes. Back when I was younger a sleeper was a nova with a c20let, 14" factory wheels and drum brakes on show. S3 being a sleeper is laughable but it's generated clicks and I suppose that is the point of UA-cam these days

I had a c63 but it caught on fire at the start of covid, i had a tts with the previous haldex which was abysmal and took over what you were doing even if you'd turned the tc off. Id be interested in testing one of these to see how it handles, clearly its not going to be as gutteral and quick as the c63 but i'm sure its smaller size will make it more threadable down country roads?!
You set your bar way too high with an C63 unfortunately. I've driven both quite a lot, the S3 just feels... shit. Everything feels fake, doesnt feel as planted. Idk maybe its just me. Nothing will compare to the C63 but I certainly wont reccomend an S3 after youve driven one. It's just very meh.
