However, the second phase still scales with your total attack speed. The total attack speed has still a much greater influence overall. Still interesting ^^ (Bug or intended?) *4. Precision Dash* The dash of the skill itself is not affected by attack speed, but the animation in between is. So if you have a lot of attack speed, you can use the 2nd dash much faster. This is why it feels like you can dash faster. *5. Short simplified Summary* Attack Speed in Throne and Liberty reduces the animation time of skills, making your rotations faster. For example, if your full rotation takes 3 seconds, a high attack speed could reduce it to 2 seconds. You can check your total attack speed in your character window below the base damage. The lower this value the faster your attacks. It is affected by three main factors Base Attack Speed (from your weapon), Dexterity (a primary stat that directly reduces attack speed), and Bonus Attack Speed (a percentage-based increase). All of these factors combine to make your skills and combos faster.

Good Video, again ! Thanks Grobs. The video would have been perfect if you'd clarified the importance of the synergy between attack speed and cooldown reduction.
Thank for for putting in the work for us Sir! Had a similar question in regards to mitigation. We understand Evasion vs Endurance, could you please consider researching Skill Dmg Resist vs Dmg Reduction vs All Defense (flat Range, Melee, Magic defense stat). Some gear/food offer these stats and I assume they supersede Evasion and Endurance in effectiveness but I dont know how to validate. All of these stats in balance would nicely complement each other vs just stacking Evasion for example. Thanks again for your great information!
Always prioritize Skill Damage Resistance whenever possible. it's incredibly powerful. Next, focus on Evasion or Endurance if you're heavily stacking one of them, as their effectiveness scales significantly the more you have. Damage Reduction is only good for endurance tanks. Defense always good.
@@grobsXOAlso, there is a food item that gives PVP Hit/Crit Chance. How does PVP specific Hit Chance differ from basic Hit Chance from weapons/gear? Seems like this stat is never mentioned by anyone and I assume they are the same. I have played mmos with pvp gear sets that only work in pvp and same for pve. Thanks again!
Great vid keep it up❤ But why you didn't mention xbow skills thats bugged and not affected by AS? Like xbow barrage taking ~3.5s, and wild barrage taking ~5s. No matter whats your AS! Also you didn't mention that auto attacks doesn't match your actual in-game attack speed🥲
I'm confused on one thing, does your skills use the calculated attack speed value of the main weapon or it uses the calculated attack speed of the weapon its meant for? You didn't explicitly mention this in your gs staff example. So if im holding GS as my main weapon and used a staff skill, whose calculated attack speed value will be used? the main weapon GS or the off hand staff?
I didn't explain it properly. The attack speed always depends on the weapon you're using to activate the skill. So if you use a skill with a greatsword, it will use the attack speed of the greatsword.
Question on your data regarding animation timers - say I have a spear with 0.743 attack speed, and through various sources of attack speed buffs, I bring the value to 0.359. Am I gaining an increase of ~48% animation speed as my attack speed is 41% faster than it was at 0.743, or am I gaining an increase of roughly 40% animation speed as I'm bringing the first decimal down from 0.7 to 0.3? In this instance, as you said, gaining animation speed would equal reducing total frametime for the animation. If I use a skill that, with 0.743 attack speed, has a 113 frame / 1.89 second animation (at 60 fps, though I do not believe tnl ties frametime to fps like black desert does), does it go to ~67 frames or ~59 with an attack speed value of 0.359 (58.76 rounded for simplicity)?
not quite sure how you get to the 48% or 41%^^ First of all there are no decimal steps. How it would work: AS1: 0,743 // Frames: 113 AS2: 0,359 // Frames: X That means 74% of the maximum animation is 113 frames. Now we know that X will be 36% of the maximum animation time. you can simply use the rule of three. X = 113/0,743 *0,359 = 54 Frames You can also make a step in between and first calculate the the maximum frames that the skill can have (ASmin: 1,0) Xmax = 113/0,743 = 152,1 Frames The animation of the of the skill with AS2 will be 36% of the the maximum animation time. X = 152,1 * 0,36 = 54 Frames hopefully that explains it :)
In his video he said they've been studying throne and Liberty for decades but its only been out for of a couple years 😂😂 and this is mentioned in the first seconds of the video
5:47 first, liked the video and thanks for the hard work! but, wasn't clear on primary weapon part, do you mean each weapon affects its own skill speed, or the lowest attack speed number affects all weapons skills? e.g. if i am holding daggers with 0.3 and a staff with 0.5, my fireball would take the 0.3 number? or it takes from the staff 0.5?
the "dimishing return" on % value isnt a DR. Its simple math. are 100% faster (cause u got 100% in added atk speed) u need the half time. this even hits on all parts of life not only in TL :D. Some on 200%, if u do somthing 3 time faster as normal u dont need minus 100% u are still need 1/3 of the origin. But thx for testing and explanation, in core it helps me to understand this more and its good to go in this stat.
I’ve already discussed that on my cooldown speed video xD I understand where you're coming from and your reasoning makes sense but ultimately what matters is the reduction of frames for your animation of the skill. The key question is: by how many frames can you shorten your animation? Let’s look at an example: - Lets say our animation takes 100 frames by default. -> 50% bonus attack speed reduces it to 67 frames (33.3% actual bonus attack speed). -> 100% bonus attack speed reduces it to 50 frames (50% actual bonus attack speed). - The first 50% bonus reduces it by 33 frames, while the second 50% bonus only reduces it by 17 frames. - If you compare each step only to the previous total attack speed your perspective makes sense. - However when considering the overall impact it's clear that diminishing returns significantly reduce the effectiveness of additional attack speed because you will reduce less and less frames and thats the only thing that matters ;)
Attack speed is huge for healers. I can't count how many times I tried to do a clutch heal before a dodge roll and got hit because I was 0.1 sec too slow. Same with clay's salvation that takes a while to cast.
Are there any t2 sets you like for pve tank? I see other videos say the best are the crit dmg reduction, shield block set or the dmg reduction, endurance set, but these are not offensive sets, does t2 pve tank need to be tankier?
hey @Grobs so when I swap to my Duke magna GS the stats say Attack Speed 0.42s but when I put Shaikal spear in main hand it says 0.466s. So GS in hands should get me faster animations and all?
when you use a skill from the greatsword, it uses the total attack speed of the greatsword, and when you use a skill from the spear, it uses the total attack speed of the spear. its hard to compare these two values :S
so if i have 0.42 for example i should rly aim to get the 0.40 for the 20% reduction ? so it afftects only when i hit a certain point ? like 0.5->0.4? or is 0.43 for example also doing something ?
I probably didn't explain it clearly. there are no specific thresholds where attack speed suddenly becomes more effective. Any small increase, such as going from 0.43 to 0.42, has an immediate and consistent effect. The table may have made it seem like there were breakpoints, but there aren't! 😊 if there are more question let me know

I mentioned this in another comment as well, but it's not the dash itself that's affected, it’s the animation in between. That’s what makes it feel so much faster. I considered bringing this up but decided against it to avoid confusing people.
By animation time, you mean cast time right? Auto attacks mean nothing in TaL, sadly... Certain skills have near instant cast time like stunning blow on GS. Would have been way better for them to put individual casttimes for each skill also display instants, why do they make everything harder here, it was invented maybe 30 years ago and it works just fine :D
The entire animation of a skill is affected by attack speed, whether it's a chargeable skill like Guillotine or an instant skill like counter barrier. so even the skill has not cast time its affected
