- Fusion Splicing www.olcfiber.com is achieved by using an electric arc to fuse or melt two optical fibers together at their end faces. This process is called fusion splicing.
I took the video output port of one of our Fujikura fusion splicers and capture the instance of fusion.
I slowed the capture speed down so that the entire process can been seen. You can clearly see the core and the cladding as the splicer calculates core/clad axis split nano seconds before the arc fires. • Fiber Optic Splicing C...
I captured this off a Fujiukura 40S. For this machine a slightly fat splice is normal. Best look at splice is at 0.47 sec. Even though the 40S is pretty old it's still one of the most accurate machines ever made. IMHO more accurate than the newer models ..ie.50's and 60. Even more accurate than the new Fitel's I have.
@pololo2101 Those two brite spots at the very end, top and bottom, is the glow from the electrodes. No bubbles here.
Yes. The fusion machine creates an electric arc that generates the heat.
so it's heat meting the two ends together right?
looks like it left a bulge. what machine was used?
my 60s Fujikura is not working it says "ZL motor trouble" any one support me please ?
ZL error. Use self calibration in machine setups. If that work you 'll have to send it to AFL for repair.
Neat
