Thanks although I didn’t really found that, it was sourced from tik tok. I do wish it was recorded from a VCR but it’s better than nothing I guess. Also there’s more family Guy lost media in the description like a news recording from September 1998 that features the pilot although it’s the same clips that’s available online but it’s it’s interesting it was possible that it was the first time Family Guy was ever shown on television. Also a Workprint of Death Has A Shadow comparison and differences and You’ve got a Lot To See uncensored and rare censored version. You can check them out if your interested.
I like how they apparently didn't seem to understand that Peter's job wasn't actually a "sneeze guard", but a toy factory worker. I guess they didn't know what a cutaway was.
@DoomKid They definitely don't seem to think that it was a joke. They make the cutaway a pretty big chunk of the promo, like it's just part of the show.
It's most likely from 1998 because while it says March 1999 it actually premiered in January of that year. So this is probably from late 1998 before the premiere date was moved up.
This definitely late 1998! If it aired in 99 the narrator would've just said coming this March. Also this is before Family Guy stole the superbowl timeslot from Futurama lol
Wait a minute, I know this is maybe unlikely but were you involved in the production of the 1998 pilot? The way you said “this hits me in the nostalgia” sounds like you might’ve worked on it or I could be wrong and that your probably bringing up the 7 minute cut of the pilot that is on the volume 2 2003 DVD.
@@danialonderstal3564 So the cd you mentioned contained the 1998 pilot? Do you still have that cd if it’s the lost pilot. Here’s more info and photos of it for context. lostmediawiki.com/Family_Guy_(partially_lost_unaired_pitch_pilot_of_Fox_animated_sitcom;_1998)

Nice lol I also think of big book o' crap that was actually a good comic for family guy. Shame stuff deteriorated like the simpsons and South park due to overuse but at least it didn't reboot and fail like futurama
I've had the entire pilot uploaded to my channel and upscaled well to 1080p for nearly a full year. This is the most easy to find accessible "Lost media" ever
Well not exactly, while yes the pilot is available on the Family Guy Volume 2 2003 DVD it’s not the full pilot as there are screenshots and some snippets in this promo that’s not available on the 2003 DVD which only seven minutes of it has been officially released to the public. The rest of the pilot is still lost. lostmediawiki.com/Family_Guy_(partially_lost_unaired_pitch_pilot_of_Fox_animated_sitcom;_1998)
This is a cut pilot, the actual pilot is 15 minutes long, to prove it out there are screenshots of the courtroom scene which wasnt added into the cut pilot, and no footage of it still exists to this day
There are vhs promo copies out there of the screening pilot for executives. Those are the rare ones, but theyve been uploaded already. The vhs promo was made in 2 styles, standard vhs with white sleeve and vhs color box with white sleeve. There are about 100 copies put there minus whatever got destroyed. Once in a while some guys try to sell it on ebay.
Update: A vhs rip of the promo has surfaced. ua-cam.com/video/Uz79rgQp1fM/v-deo.htmlsi=YSbrBtcDW3Vnt3UA

Quagmire Joe can’t hurt you
Quagmire Joe:
Ah, jeez, I never thought of it like that!
Wasn't he that way at the start of the show anyway?
He must've been said something instead of just completely silent.
His hair kinda reminds me of
Edd from Eddsworld
Quagmire Joe became Stan Smith
You recovered part of the pilot, thank you

I'm sure it was just a joke for the trailer, as he's already got the toy factory job in the pilot
@DoomKid They definitely don't seem to think that it was a joke. They make the cutaway a pretty big chunk of the promo, like it's just part of the show.
@@christianpetterson1784plus they have him in his sneeze guard gear at the end of the promo, so clearly they think that's his actual job.
They were just calling attention to the joke, which clearly went over you head.
its crazy how much of this made into the actual pilot episode
Interesting how he orders 6 chicken "fuh-jai-tas" in this clip because in the final show he orders 6000 of them
He wanted way more i guess
That was a later episode.
My guess is they reused the scene and rewrote the joke.
Based on that VHS rip of the promo, it seems this is from 1998.

@JohnBaiger You watch family guy
@JohnBaiger for fun
So Peter was the family guy this whole time
back when peter had soul
1998. I saw this preview on the vhs version of There's Something About Mary (also a Fox property.)
So that’s where Stevie traveled back to in that one episode
he's the family guy!
"the family guy"
So, in this pilot, he would've worked as a sneeze guard instead of a toy factory?
no its just a cutaway gag
Holy krap Lois i'm in a lost media episode
i guess they cut up the joke to save time but honestly the simplicity of six chicken fajitas hits a lot funnier than six thousand
Finally
I'm PRETTY sure it aired after the Super Bowl.
All of these scenes were so good they were reanimated😂
Peter: “Reminds me of the time someone on UA-cam leaked my pilot promo.”
Thank god they mentioned the year, the people at the time probably had no idea.
25 years.
