Am a fan of ur quote in True Facts' context tho. :)
@@merryc.5466 I was being more sarcastic than anything.
Ze frank is a social genius. He made every one comforable by making them uncomforable as a joke then kept making them laugh so they could deal with the heavy part
Spot on Watson!
Not Dopler genius.
As they say: comedy pulls you in, so it'll be hard to pull out from the heavy things
Comedy today by that standard would make you called out for trying too hard

And then what?
@@CultofThings And then ask him to eat another booger, just to confirm it was true.
@@CultofThings Nothing. Pure empathy is sometimes enough.
I feel like the reason this is so fantastic is the way that he manages to slip in an actual sad thing we do amongst all the humor.
+Totally Not A Cylon That's dark humor
Kim No, dark humor is joking about something you usually don't joke about.
Because it's too dark.
Dark humor = 1 baby in 10 trash cans, this is nothing close to it, this is just deep
that's more in the shock humor range. dark humor is something that is painful but is made light of, shock humor is something that is a tragedy/controversial and is made light of
I'm gonna have to think this over tomorrow.
I have another question for the human test: Do you miss Ze Frank on UA-cam?

He's back! He uploaded a new True Facts video.
This is so sad, im from the year 2019 he isn't uploading anymore

I disagree. It's performance art. :)
How?
@Tweer64 Well ZeFrank senior, and Mrs. ZeFrank loved each other very much. They did some things that are perfecty natural, but not for the eyes of children. ~9 months later ZeFrank was born.
He was not very impressive at the time, but through the numerous abuses of the process we call living he learned how to observe, analyze and create.
He found that he liked creating things that other people would enjoy and hopefully make them think at least a little bit. He tried that, and more than likely failed quite a few times. Fortunately, Mrs. ZeFrank did not raise a quiter. He strived on until he became the man you know today.
Then they invited him to give a TED talk, and he chose to do so rather impressively.
I need his voice for my GPS navigation.

Go right! Oh no Jerry you stay on the left lane and couldn't take the exit!
I'm going to reach out to Waze and ask them to add "Ze frank" to their list of navigation voices. I've been using "boy band" as my preferred voice on Waze since 2012, but I would gladly switch to Ze frank if that was an option lol.
Ze Frank is quite adept at making you laugh then suddenly making you want to cry.
Suruga Kanbaru if I could cry, he’d be the one

This man is so incredible. For me, it's because he simply is rawly honest with himself and his human state. Our existence is silly, obsurd, painful, lonely and sometimes throws us into a state of bliss. We all see ourselves in him and that is why we love him. For his quirkiness and comedy but also loneliness and pain he is willing to expose.
His pain shows in this piece.

I heard an interview with a super centurion who was "celebrating" his 110th birthday.
As they always seem to ask such people, they asked what advice did he have for anyone who wanted to live more than 100 years.
He said, "Don't." he said that his wife, all of his friend, his children, and now even some of his grandchildren had all passed away.
It was pretty clear that he had had enough life to satisfy him and he was now just waiting for the end.
It really brought home that old Queen Song, "Who Wants to Live Forever"
This. Every time I see someone claim to want immortality, this is exactly what comes to mind. Imagine, if you can, everything and everyone you know steadily passing into the void of time, while you can only watch and experience it? Yes, you can and will have many moments of joy, but eventually, at some point, you WILL tire of living. But if you cannot die, you will never know true peace.
This is so sad but true. My great grandmother waited for death to come and get her for 11 years. All her brothers and sisters who were younger than her, her husband and even 1 of her grandchildren had already passed away, and she kept asking, why her, why he took the young ones but left her, she should have gone first. This bothered her a lot for the last 11 years (I count eleven years since she first mentioned it to me till her death. ). When she finally passed away, i think she was happy to go. She had an infection in her leg that just wouldn't heal, but she refused amputation or any medical help for it. She said, "I am going to my grave with both my legs." She sounded in a hurry. RIP

Thank you, Ze Frank.
I think TED talks are given in the spirit of sharing ideas, and the idea for this is helping people feel that they are not alone in experiencing screwups and being imperfect. It's nice to have someone empathise in this manner. If you want to go by the title, this goes under entertainment. So yeah I find this relevant enough to be a TED talk.
It's better than the interpretative dance TED talks.
@@RobespierreThePoof Is that what the robots say?
@@RobespierreThePoof Feelings are generated by the head, not the heart. So they should suffice as an "idea" at least. Albeit a forward thought.
It's 2023 and it's the first time I watched this video. That was beautiful. I feel like crying.
I watch this once a year to remind myself that I'm not alone.
In consideration with all the negative views this video is receiving from tradition TED viewers, you have to open your mind to possibilities of the psychological perspective that Zefrank is trying approach here. He incorporates his comedy as a way to introduce possible emotional struggles that every individual may go through at some one in their lives and is trying to bring rise to the awareness if these matters. His main focus is the loss of interest that arises from these issues. He incorporates subliminal messages into each of his videos and speeches with a gentle comic start to a more serious tone afterwards and it works for him. So it might not be the traditional TED video that you all expect but consider the messages that possible psychological he is trying to send.
chaoticoracle225 psychology and comedy seem to go hand in hand together.
His comedy and psychology must require a typical approach to thought processing... I got neither from this.
Comedians w/ his talent for kindness are a divine gift & will be more highly lauded in Heaven than most overly "religious" posers of any belief set. Bet on it!
No negative view here. Comedy is an excellent vehicle and preparation for more serious business. There is nothing about Ze Frank's presentation here that I don't adore.
What negative feedback? Everyone loves it as far I can see (including me).
I'm not sure what the most amazing part of this is.
The emotional journey this takes everyone on, that everyone continues raising their hands when it's a hard or sad admission, or the levels of empathy this video inspires.
Oh god. This right now.
He's all but disappeared from life. The last part is really
telling. I'm worried about Ze, I actually am going through the same
thing exactly he talks about at the end, and it's just so crippling.
Losing someone from your life is the worst.
Thank you Ze. Wherever you are. Be well.

It’s been 17 years since I first discovered this guy. I love him dearly. Protect Ze at all costs.
For those who don't understand or think this video was a waste of time I hope to open your eyes to what I have taken away from this video. Though this video starts off in a silly fashion around 2:35 I see a drastic change it its meaning. at 2:35. I see a change into the begining of relationships how you notice and talk with the person. It then procceds to change into the degradation of the relationship with distrust and arguments. Finally it turns into the ending, rememberance of that relationship, and the moving on.

It is a simple message. Life is full of dumb, stupid, happy, beautiful, sad, and regretful events. We human, experiences ups and downs with our emotions. So don't afraid to admit that.
Thank you, Sir, for your message. I just wanted you to know that you've made a tremendous difference in my life during a difficult time. I love your humor, but I hear your important message inside of it.

I've seen all of this guys videos, awesome that he got a Ted panel. Good job!
He has had like two others before.
A lot of people seem confused about his last question. Here is what I understood. It's not about loss, it's about realizing the loss wasn't as bad as you thought it was and the guilt and sadness that may bring.
He says can you no longer imagine a life in which you previously thought you could never imagine living with out a person who in the present is already gone? He's talking about the melancholic remembrance of that feeling and a possible guilt or sort of emptiness in realizing you did in fact move on and you actually are okay living in a world with out them.
A great example most people will deal with is losing their parents or grandparents. Humans heal, both in body and mind. As much as we think we'd just fall apart or stop functioning, most do actually move on. And while that's healthy, it's also sad, because it makes us question the sincerity we once had in the statement "I can't imagine life with out you". Not only are you able to imagine it now, but you are living it.
This guy gets it
me: HAHAHAHA! YES! YES! YES!
*after **3:29*

ZeFrank is the best Buddhist, despite probably not being a buddhist. He can help us all acknowledge our pain while having compassion for everyone that suffers as we suffer, and in doing so, eases that pain through awareness.
this guy is super fucking intelligent
I would non-disqualifiably (I know, not a word, but yet you understand- the ultimate goal of language) qualify that with emotionally-intelligent. Or “self-awaringly” (also not a word) intelligent.
Emotional intelligence is more important that calculative intellegence
@@NeostormXLMAX the importance of the various flavors of intelligence has no singular “king”. Different types of intelligence depend solely on the application and context of what it’s being applied to.
@@insanecow24 Not only that, but different types of intelligence work together at times. If you're a high powered business executive with incredible calculative or analytical intelligence, emotional intelligence may help you nap a client you otherwise couldn't have

You seriously gave me chills, Frank. Thanks for being so cool.
Have you ever called people who use cuttlebone to carve cast for metal jewelry "cuttleboners?"
No, but I hope to.
After many years of browsing UA-cam, I have finally reached the first video to make me cry.
Seems a lot of people don't understand what this has got to do with TED. ZeFrank is pointing out that amongst all this technological wonder, inbetween the tweets and chats and emails, in that space between you and the thing you're holding, there is something profoundly human. And no matter how much technology we throw into the world, *that* will not go away. We're not less human nor are we any lesser at human communication, no matter what tools we use. We use tools, and we adapt to tools, but the tools don't make us less human. So, congratulations.
With the number of commenters disliking/not appreciating this video, I have my doubts.
This will make you smile and make you cry...
LOVE this man! Healing the world.
