- I forgot to add that the size of this is also good for propping the books on as a portable desk.
I realize the irony of using a “big box” store to source parts, but these days sometimes that’s the only practical place to find some stuff.
I was told once that 75% or more of things donated to thrift stores are immediately thrown away and never make it to the sale floor. If a project like this is to your liking, perhaps making friends with thrift store staff could get some good free or almost free raw materials.
I love how you re-purposed the old leather. I can't wait to show my daughter your books you have made. My cousins prayer paper art paitings are on exhibit in Tennessee right now.

Look at getting what’s called torque hinges. They can be tightened to a particular torque so the lid won’t move from where you adjust it. Omg the rest of this box is giving me great ideas for mine. It is perfect. The journals/moleskin books are sweet! Well done !!

Omg where did you get your journal with the dino skeleton on it?!
Glad you like it! I built it. The journal itself is recycled toned paper from Cachet. Then I covered it with marbled paper and the dino's themselves are jewelry findings from Hobby Lobby. Since traditional book hardware is expensive and hard to find, I improvise with stuff like that.
