At 19:50 the driver is 100% right. Code 96 allows him to pull a trailer. This is for people that took their B licence BEFORE 1996. It is now called BE. But code 96 is still legal and I am surprised the officer didn't know this!
If the driver ‘went home’ to do a test to get further categories, then he can’t have applied to get them put onto his licence. Moreover, if he is resident in Ireland, as he states, he would have an Irish licence and therefore should have taken the test in Ireland. Something is not right here.
If it’s not on the licence it means nothing a man that worked with me found that out in court + this lad had an Irish licence why would ya do a code 96 for a country you were only visiting and not get it on the licence of of the country you worked in
100% right. It is strange that it is not on his driving licence. He said that he has been in Ireland 5 years and the officer asked why he didn't do the course in Ireland. But I understand that it would be easier for him to do it in his own country. But 2 things don't make any sense. A: Strange that the police officer didn't know about code 96. And B: code 96 is old. If he has done the test like he said. Then it would be on his licence has 96. (It is now called BE). So he is right. But my guess is that he was pulling one over the officer.@@jimjam894
The trailer had a max allowable mass of 2,700kg. The van is likely has a max allowable mass of 2,500 to 3,500 kg The 96 code allows a max of 4,250 kg combined. He said he got it for a caravan and is likely fine for a car + caravan (
As a professional traveler, the problem with these Immigration stamps are they are often too large, and the officer doesn't stamp the page in a way that maximizes the space for other stamps. Many of them just stamp right in the middle or slanted thereby using more room than should be required.
