FYI according to the description presented at the awards ceremony ua-cam.com/video/UrobPUyw93I/v-deo.html the tuning is the 5-limit Kleismic temprament, AKA Hanson, using pure perfect fifths, which is very close to an octave reduced chain of minor thirds in 53edo.
Naren bravo 👏👏👏
Thanks very much :) I really loved your pieces - as always!
This has some chill vibes
Thanks very much for watching the video! For the guitar tuning, the frets are third-tones of 68 cents apart and the strings are minor thirds of 317 cents apart.
Those numbers are from (9/8)^(1/3) = 68 cents and 3^(1/6) = 317 cents. They're chosen so that you get
- a 3/2 fifth two strings up and one fret up
- a pure octave four strings up and one fret down
@@a-cz5vr This is indeed an extremely interesting and innovative way of mapping 72tet!
So you have a fretboard for 18tet but each string is shifted to a parallel 18tet system, and after four strings you are back in parallel systems... need to think about it :-D
@@君子ロベルト Really glad you like the tuning! Sorry I should say my 'third-tones' are slightly bigger than the 18TET ones; 204/3 cents rather than 200/3 cents if that makes sense.
Your 72TET tuning sounds really cool - maybe it's time for me to get an adjustable microtonal fretboard to try it out!
I see, so you really build up your tuning from pure intervals but it doesn't contain pure octaves. Interesting. To you have a switchable fretboard?
Yes, indeed it is Tolgahan's System for the adjustable guitar that nudges me into thinking in 72 tet.
Yep there's no octave on the same string; happily there's an octave four strings up and one fret down (from 4*317 - 68 = 1200) which is handy for revoicing chords.
No switchable fretboard for me yet sadly, maybe one day!
👏👏👏
Thanks! By the way I absolutely love Groovy Hüseyni - such a great tune!
@@a-cz5vr thank you! So happy to hear that.
