Happy 10th to Tuba Skinny - remake of 4/27/2009 video

- The story begins with us going to NOLA in 2007 for Jazzfest. We arrived in NOLA and were heading over to the WWOZ studios to get our Jazzfest tickets. We were passing thru Jackson Sq. and heard a band playing trad jazz on the uptown, river side of the square. The band was the "Loose Marbles" with Barnabus and Kiowa... and Meschiya singing (I posted some video on youtube in 2007). When we went to NOLA for Jazzfest 2008, we spent time searching Royal St. for "The Loose Marbles". We finally saw them in 2008 at Donna's. When we went to NOLA in 2009, we continued our Royal St. "crawl" searching for the "Loose Marbles" and Meschiya.
If I remember correctly (a BIG IF), as we walked on St. Peters St. we thought we heard Meschiya in the distance and followed the music to Royal St. We did not find Meschiya or the "Loose Marbles". Much to our delight we found "Tuba Skinny and his Tiny Men" and Erica Lewis.
What a lucky day and find for us. We have always found all the people in TS, friendly, gracious, great musicians and approachable. We spend hours watching our own vintage TS videos as well as the new ones on youtube. We are indebted to James Sterling and RaoulDuke504 for all the excellent videos they post as well as other fans throughout the world.
As two fans who have followed you through the years; we can not thank TS enough for the joy, happiness, smiles and great music you have given us.
I went back over the Tuba Skinny videos I took in 2007 and tried to improve them, I have posted an Anniversary edition on youtube (this video) .The original videos were taken in low resolution, so the resulting video leaves something to be desired.
And many thanks to you and Judy for exposing the world to Tuba Skinny, the best traditional jazz band in the world. Congratulations to Tuba Skinny for 10 great years. I'm looking forward to the next ten amd beyond.
And thanks right back at you for all your videos and continuing the ongoing TS video coverage.
A big thank you Digitalexa, for introducing me to Tuba skinny. I do not exaggerate when i say it was it was a life changing experience. Here's to the next 10 years 🎺

I almost lost faith , and as a Musician I was looking for roots , when I found out TS music through your channel .. It definitely helped me with my journey ... a good sound track from 6-7 years ago .. thank you !!

Awesome video. So glad to find them on UA-cam. My first trip to nola a few years ago was a very short 3 hour visit. I had intended to see a lot more of the French quarter but I stumbled upon tuba skinny by the little grocery store on royal street. Ended up spending my whole 3 hours there. Really love these folks

Your videos drew us from the UK to NOLA to watch TS and other great young bands playing live and tens of thousands of other fans from around the world have done the same. I notice that there have now been 18.8 million views of your videos. Fantastic achievement and I reckon the Mayor of New Orleans ought to award you both the Freedom of the City!
Bill, Thanks for the kind words. Judy and I marvel how many people we met in NOLA who saw our videos. We smile a lot when remembering you, Barbara, Ivan & Suze, Alan, Wally and Dave; plus others whose names I can not recall. NOLA is a special place for music and TS is a special band from that special place. We are both glad that people get pleasure from our videos of TS. We just take the video, TS supplies the joy and happiness with their music.
@@digitalalexa seems strange, but my dream is to go and die in NOLA. So, I close my eyes accompanied by the music of TS ...

I was tickled to see this ! I too am one of legions who thank you for your many terrific videos, bringing this superb band and traditional jazz to many thousands. I am sort of a newbie , having become 'addicted' only a year and a half ago. But at 77, I got to 'chase a band' and saw them four times on last years Eastern Tour. Accomplished musicians and good people to be sure. By luck I have come to be helping bring Tuba Skinny to Philadelphia on Friday, August 30th ! Five months from today. I think you may live within 100 miles, and the band and I would be delighted to have you attend. Thank you, Digitalalexa, for your catalog of TubaSkinny videos. It was you and others like PopsCoffee who started the ball rolling. Your videos were my initial exposure to TS. I've been hooked ever since. The bands' fan base has taken on a cult like character because of your videos. If ever a documentary is made on NO busking/TS, your vids must be a reference point. As a 'dead head might say: "keep on truckin" ....🙃

THANK YOU for this little history ! It plugs a hole in my perspective. BUT .. where was Shaye ? Maybe off playing with Loose Marbles or ?? I think this is the only TS video without her ?

This is great documentation. An history of personnel changes over the years would be interesting. Can you do, please? e.g. when did Shaye join up and when did she become the "boss". To me, she is the heart and soul of the operation. And cute as hell too.
