So pleased wild grayling are an appreciated species in our amazing rivers these days...thanks for the great video and explanations guys...very clear, helpful tips and techniques
A great video filmed and produced by a great team. So refreshing to watch rather than those other so called "iconic" productions. I would gladly have paid to watch this. Very well done guys.
Cracking film. Caught my first Grayling at the age 10 back in 1968 trotting with a bamboo rod and centre pin and brandling on the hook. A couple years later I tried fly fishing for grayling and caught on my first outing with spiders and dry's. Fast forward today still catching Grayling up in the Yorkshire Dales. I would rather fish for Grayling than any other fish.
hi, just found your channel so now I have all my January to watch your videos , new to fly fishing and tying but making good progress , your LD Olive caught my eye so what do you use as floatant on it, cheers mike
Thanks for the comment, glad you found out channel… my normal floatant of choice is Frog’s fanny or trusty old gink.. with a bit of amadou to dry off after a fish..
Great spot for Grayling Testcombe. In fact fishing straight out of the fishing hut, that bit before it narrows is stuffed with grayling. You can wait for the pale watery's to come off and dry fly for a good period between 11 and 12. So don't go down the pub in grayling season.
Your guest doesn't know well , what is talking. He did a lot of mistake :( You should ask the world champions of fly fishing. They know this technics very well because the won 5 times the world championship of fly fishing in fresh water....." Spain, France and Czech " not New Zeland. You should check before talking ! Should try this link this angler he knows that very well.... far away from your guest ..... manies videos from youtube under the name of "nymphévolution you will understand why !
Hi Alexandre, thank you for your comment but please remember this video is about Grayling fishing on the UK chalkstreams, not the pure method of Euro nymphing. We have to adapt the technique here as we are not allowed to wade and often have a high bank to contend with. The rivers are also not freestone rivers here. Alex actually used to compete and fished for the England youth team. Horses for courses as we say…. 😀
Glad you finally got Pete to see the light
It took a while Chris, but I have now seen the light! 😄
Great video and footage thanks for a great show, thumbs up and greetings from faraway land of New Zealand,, Tony.
Thank you Tony, appreciate it!
Wholesome and informative, some beautiful shots in there
Thank you Felix, Chris and Leo took the filming to a whole different level….
Excellent. Enjoyed it.
Thanks Darryl, praise indeed….🙏🏻
An excellent tutorial.
Thank you Brian, glad you enjoyed it!

Thanks for the comment and agree totally.. 😄
Fantastic video 👍 Such a shame places like these are prohibitively expensive to fly fish (>£300 for a day ticket?!) 😏 mmm no
In Grayling season the price of all these beats drop significantly and Testcombe is £90 INC Vat…
I would have preferred seeing diagrams or real life fishing showing the setups than just talking about them. Nonetheless it is a good video
Noted! Sadly not enough time....
