In this video I’m dialing in some tones into my Fractal FM3 from John Mayer’s “Last Train Home” (ballad version). This single he released was recorded in a live situation with the whole band in a studio. The goal of these tones was to try to capture the raw and ambient nature of recording in one room with a full band.
The intro clip is a backing track I found that didn’t have any guitar in it, so you are just hearing my guitar through my Fractal FM3 straight into my DAW. Enjoy some tone dialing!

Thanks for all of the detail - well done. Since we know he recorded the Sob Rock track with a Soldano Slo 100, I wonder if you've ever tried it with a more Soldano-like amp model in the FM3.

Is the intro pretty much the same tone with the volume knob rolled off?
That’s really what it sounds like to me! In the video it’s hard to tell if he kicks on a pedal. But when the drum beat kicks up a bit in the solo, I think he turns the volume knob all the way up. No noticeable volume bump, but slightly more gain. Don’t quote me though! Also wasn’t his typical touring rig he used.
