Thats awesome. I have a cast of the original maquette for the raptor hatchling from the first movie.
This was on the back of the packaging of the Kenner Jurassic Park toys 👌
I automatically recognized it
As a kid I remember being so upset that it was so hard to find just a simple quality T-Rex toy like the red one, it looked so good. My cousin had it so my only option was to borrow it from him.
Wow it looks so good! Just like on the Jurassic park toy boxes!
Love it! Great work! Have a Horizon kit and the red rex at home, so this is great history of that sculpt!
I'm glad I'm not the only one who saw the Rex on the back of the box and was like "I can't wait until they make this one!" 😆
Absolutely Beautiful, you should have made a cast of this so others can enjoy the pleasure of having such an awesome piece.
This is such a great upload. Thank you for posting this. Your Rex is beautiful, and worth every penny of whatever you paid. I was at the Jurassic Party webcast Stan Winston school recorded a few years ago. I got to meet almost everyone that worked on dinosaurs for all four films (at that time). It was a dream come true. They helped create our childhood and this Rex is a major part of that.
Great job! I want to make a Tyrannosaurus on 3D and this piece is awesome for reference, thank you.
You're welcome and thanks for watching! Best of luck on your project.
That is the most beautifully accurate maquette Rexy I’ve ever seen! Imma break into your house and steal it!!! 😛
Many many compliments and thank You for sharing 👍
Hey Trevor, great job with this review and history, thanks for sharing!
High praise from one of the best paleoartist in the world! Thanks so much Tyler.
I remember this thing being displayed on the back of the Jurassic toy boxes & every kid wanted one. I would have done dark & terrible things to get my hands on one...horrible horrible things.
Where do you live?...asking for a friend.
For a begginning of a channel this is a really cool figure and i hope your channel grows more. KEEP IT UP!
Thank you for putting this together and sharing with us an insight into our childhood and our continuing love for JP!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!
For me it's almost a trademark of the jurassic park trex to have those giant scales on the underbelly, and it disappointed me that Mattel's trex didn't have these scales
This model is so cool! Thanks for sharing! Hopefully you have more dinosaur videos coming soon! 😀
Harpie Quin thanks so much for the kind comments! Working on something new, hopefully it’ll come out soon!
Dude this is awesome!! This seriously looks like the version of the Rex that made it's way into Jurassic World. You are lucky to have this!!
Hi Kerr, thanks! It is an awesome maquette and I couldn't ask for a better assembly and paint job. Thanks again for viewing and your comments.
for sure man! That is one awesome piece of film history you have there.
Thanks for sharing a piece of film history!
Beautiful model. I used to make display models for museums and theme parks including some full size and animatronic dinosaurs. I really miss it. The artists did an amazing job on Jurassic park. It really made dinosaurs popular again. A great video by the way. You have another subscriber. Good look with your channel.
Thanks so much! Very cool to hear that you created display models and animatronics!
Thanks for telling all the story on this amazing piece! It turned out amazing; the assembly, paint job, everything’s perfect. Very cool video 👍 A couple of years back I had the chance to work on an original cast from a 1:10 T.Rex study by Dan Lorusso for a 1:1 for the Boston Science Center.
Hi Excursioner! Thanks so much for the comments, very cool to hear about the Dan Lorusso work. I was excited to see your message as i'm a fan of your work! I've visited your Flickr account many times in the past and marveled at all the paint work you did on your Horizon kits and other dinosaur models. Thanks again for your comment.
Great job!! Could you see where the spinosaurus maquette is being kept currently
Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️
Great video, nice to get an insight in to the process that led to the movie. It would be good to see more.
yes, you know your dinosaurs!
Hi @TrevorC , i would like to know what are you using for the stand? Thanks.
Hi Patrick, thanks for your question.
It’s actually a stand that comes with the Tsukuda Hobbies Jurassic Park Dilophosaurus model. I’m on the lookout for more stands for my dinosaur models… they’re hard to find! I hope that helps.
Great Video! Please make more!
Great video, man - thanks for sharing!
Ted Brothers thank you! I also wanted to say I’m a fan of your work, love your repaints and how you present all your pieces, some really fantastic work!
Wow. Does it feel like rubber?
Hey man! Awesome piece! Do have an instagram with more shots of it??
Thanks for your comment! Sorry, I actually don't have Instagram, but I have been thinking about getting it as I paint up more kits. I'll make note of this comment and let you know if I open one. Take care!
@@trevorc4380 hey man! Appreciate the response! It’s a beautiful piece, I just purchased the elite creature collectibles JP TRex in 1/12 scale. And I’m very excited about it. Have you seen it??
Hey @@KerrRobinson, Yes! Incredible piece and congrats on your purchase. I don't think you'll get a better JP T-Rex than that, and at 1/12 scale, it's going to be huge!
Please send this to chronicle collectibles so they can produce it!! I want one of this.
I wonder if I can ever get someone can paint a red rex for me if I get one to look like this one.
Fantastic piece Trevor! Thank you for sharing. So are you saying that the Horizon JP T-Rex models from the same master Maquette as your casting? I’ve always been a bit confused as to which Jurassic Park castings would be the best/most accurate ones that match the original Stan Winston models!
Thanks for your feedback! Always good to get positive critiques.
Yep! The horizon model came from the same molds as the 1/16 maquette. One thing I noticed about the horizon model is that it’s slightly repositioned, the neck slightly bends to one side and the tail slightly curves to the other side. The lower legs also seem a tad bit different, almost like they’ve been stretched a tiny bit, but other than that, pretty much the same !
great video!!
Thanks so much!
Hey Trevor, Is the T-Rex Maguette you have painted in shades of brown or is there some green in it? It looks like shades on brown in the video.
Hi Michael, thanks for your message. It seems to be mostly shades of brown, I don’t see any real green in the colouring. Are you planning on painting a JP Rex ?
Hi Trevor, I have a Horizon JP T-Rex and I'm currently working on a Lindberg JP T-Rex.
Wooooooooow
Where did you buy the jurassic park t-rex 1/16 scale?
Hi there, This one I bought directly from the sculptor who had one copy! Your best bet of finding one is on eBay. I would type "Horizon Jurassic Park T-rex" . Best of luck!
Hi trevor. Compliment for your model. I assembled a horizon model. It is possible ask a question?
Hi! Thanks for watching.
You can most definately ask questions!
Trevor C thank you. To change the rex model position, did you warm up the model?
Hey Emanuele, it was Shane Foulkes (www.cretaceouscreationsofamerica.com) that did the leg re-positioning. I don't believe he warmed it up, but rather just cut it, glued it back together and filled it in with epoxy. I hope that helps and good luck on your Horizon kit!
Your maquette is the original Trcic model. It isnt a recast! :D it is impossible buy this
Wait, so you had an item from the film and you built and painted it? Didn't you make a mould and cast a copy of it so you didn't have to assemble and paint the original? Maybe I missed something. :p
Great question! Originally I wanted to cast a copy so one casting could be left as is and one could be assembled, but the original artist/owner gave me specific instructions to not recast this item. He’s had to deal with forged items and recasts of his work for a few years and wanted to stay away from that, which I can totally understand and honoured that agreement with him. I hope that answers your question!
Recasting is a problem, I can see why Mike wanted it to stay a one off. You are incredibly lucky to own this. Steve did a fantastic job of painting it.
Are there anymore of these?
Hi TricGaming, I believe there may be a few floating around, I heard one was on eBay a number of years ago.
oh thank you are these around $1000-$3000? or more since I'm interested in getting one of these
Is your maquette movable like the old stop-motion maquettes?
Hi Chico D.
Nope! This one is a solid resin model, so there's no articulation on this one. I always thought it would be cool to have a stop motion maquette, but they sadly start deteriorating after a few years.
Fab Video and Model but such a shame Hollywood messes up History again T Rex was a Cretaceous Period dinosaur not Jurassic
Relax Poindexter. Go find a girl to kiss.
Wow, the only one of this kit I saw was on eBay many years ago and sold for over 1500$. Lucky you! And I never got any reply after sending plenty of emails to Mike ; (
Very lucky! Yeah Mike is probably the hardest sculptor to get a hold of.
Trevor C adding you on Facebook, please accept! 😉
Trevor C Btw, I’m in BC too lol
Hey Bill, I don't see your request on my FB?
I always wanted that model
To play with as a kid.
there was another I thought that
Could move like a stop motion puppet.
Damn I prolly had every toy
From the first 2 films .
Jurassic was a dream come true
As a kid.
The 3rd movies toys were crap
And I honestly expected far mor
From hasbro when Jurassic world
Was released.
Guess they didn't expect any kind
Of profit. Surly they will make
More for fallen kingdom now they
Are aware it may have serious profit.
Lol but really tho video games
Are like the toys of today
Considering how real and involved
They are now a days.
Fuggin don't even need an imagination.
So uh...I got a horizon JP trex model kit for 16 bucks off ebay....lol However it is made of vinyl.
Excellent video Trevor, please make more in the same style. I've also shared to my facebook page (facebook.com/jurassicmaquettes/)
Hope you don't mind. All the best. Steve
Thanks for the compliments Steve and thanks for sharing it on your page, I just liked your page on FB. Will most definitely be making another one come the new year, hope you enjoy!

Mantel at home
As a bit of a don't fuck with Tom
Reminder for who ever may
Be unlucky enough to end up in his home in some way
Why do you have to cus? Super UN-Professional man, I'm sorry but you just went down a rung. Not Cool.
now it just needs to be mass produced in real feel rubber skin with some electronics in it and i should get a free one for the idea
