Good afternoon Laura Ann, Just before you said about your grandchildren going to love the rug, that was what was going around in my head at the same time. What is they say about great minds thinking alike, lol. This is a lovely piece that when they are grown, they will look back and remember the special rug that "Granny" made. I only say this because i had a lion rug that had a pillow in his head and you took it out to wash him, but he was made for my twin brother and my room and we loved him. This is why i love sewing, knitting, crocheting, tapestry, cross stitch, etc, the list goes on but my children remember the daft things that i made them or did to their rooms and they only now appreciate the hard work. My daughter's friend wanted me to make her room into a princess room as well, just like Kirsten's. Now i had only painted flowers and designs on Kirstens' room to match into her bedding and curtains, so it was easy for me to change it to the new set when she got bored with it, and where my daughter just thought it was because she had a nutty mum, her friend's seen it as cool. I don't think i could ever be classed as being in the "cool" class somehow. Have a wonderful weekend flower and i look forward to your next video, crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil, Central Scotland
I made a crumb bathmat using foam. I had a scrap piece of canvas that I used for the backing. It was a super quick project. I have also made a dish drying mat using foam. I like that the foam dries quicker than the one I made with batting. Tip for sewing the foam if it’s sticking to your pressure foot or bed of your machine I cut some narrow strips of tissue paper and sewed over it and then tore it off.
I was thinking last night that I need a rug in my kitchen so this will be ideal. I have not heard of the foam before so thanks for letting us know about it.
I don't think it would wear well as a kitchen rug - best for somewhere it won't be walked on with shoes, like for a bedside, or for children to roll around on. You could make something similar with tougher fabrics, however, maybe recycled jeans or some such.
Thank you for the great idea! I have a whole bolt of R-Form that I finally have a use for. I bought it for making purses but didn't like how the fabric came loose in some sections but not in others. I think it could be used as a table runner too.
I just finished a 6 ft version in about 2 hours! Such fun! I put some rug gripping tape on the back to keep it from slipping.
Can you get the gripping tape anywhere or someplace particular?
@@mcrdsd2008 I got mine at Walmart; it’s made by Gorilla Glue.
@@mcrdsd2008 Amazon probably has it
Valerie, do you mind telling what tape you used and how you attached it? Thanks!

I’ve never considered using the Bosal foam for a rug. What a fabulous idea.
Just finished this rug for my RV using fabrics from my stash and yardage that matched curtains I made last year. Love it!!! So quick and fun!

@Lauren_Nicholsen
Hi Lauren I received a email from you saying I won something.
But not sure what to do?
That would make a great runner as well!
I’m going to try this and make placemats
Another great project! Love it! Thank you for all you do!
Love it. ANOTHER, fun, easy, gREAT project. Thanks Laura.
Love the way you teach.
I have this exact pack of precuts I've been trying to get rid of - thank you so much for this!
That is so cute. I can make one to match my kitchen decor.

I LOVE THIS....THANK YOU SO MUCH.
That was great!
Brilliant
Wonderful as alway!
I Love It! Thank you! Another Christmas gift idea. 😃
Bosal used is $46 from Amazon, but $15 from Joanns. Quite a difference!!!
Love this idea and tutorial. I am wondering whether you think we should add something to the back to make it not so slippery?
I would add rug grip.
I wondered that too
This is great! Adding rug to my list :)
I ❤ this!
Love it!
Love this!!! So would love to make one for my daughter...she does have a pup....Would this be washable? So adorable!
Yes it’s washable.
Looks nice and fun to make. My only concern: if it’s quilting cotton, how will it hold up being used as a rug?
Do you wash the strips before assembly?
I'm always afraid of stepping on something so pretty!
My machine couldn't hardly go through the foam. I used a walking foot on straight stitch at 4.5 stitch length.
Try a thicker needle like a denim needle! Worked for me.
Beautiful rug. How do you keep it from slipping?
😍
How much fabric for the backing?
❤❤❤
Love the idea, but looks like it would slip easily.
Hi Mary, I use rug Grip, you can buy it in the supermarket ! it stops a rug or any mat from slipping on a wood or tile floor. Hope this helps ! ❤
@@alisonlee4723 thank you!
It’s is gorgeous, but would slip around under your feet
This rainbow rug you're making, is it to cater to the homosexuals?
no thanks
