For example someone who struggles with internalised racism might distance themselves from their culture and distance themselves from other people of their racial/ethnic group. They also might slander or not want to date or event be friends with someone of their race/ethnicity because of internalised racism
I really identify with her. I’m japanese and I moved to the uk when I was 5, when I needed school lunches my mum would make me japanese food and I’d see people with crisps and normal cheese sandwiches and that was all I’d want because everyone would look at my lunch weird and say omg is that sushi when it wasn’t or whatever. It’s really empowering seeing this kinda stuff and I’m really happy, thank you so much.

Living in California, the lunch box thing isn't as awkward or alienating since Japanese cuisine is almost everywhere in the Bay Area. Although I've witnessed someone who couldn't tell the difference between an onigiri and sushi. Most Japanese moms don't put sushi in a kid's lunch box. It's just not safe to do that and most Japnese moms know that. The only way to incorporate "sushi" into a bento lunch is to add cucumber rolls, egg nigiri, futomaki, and similar non-raw fish alternatives into it.
Her story about not eating the lunch her mom made her because everyone at school was eating white bread and you wanted to fit in, SO RELATABLE! And looking back on it now the food my mom packed was probably 100x more delicious than those sandwiches LOL Rina is such an amazing musician but I love her because of these stories and how honest she is.
