Just giving a shout out to the commentary. This guy has some great humour and keeps it fun to watch. Would love longer highlights but they are decent ‘business person’ length.
Thank you for these videos. The quality for daily turn around is excellent. I doubt people complaining have any idea how hard it is to film all of this, then gather footage from several cameras, process, tag, arrange, produce an edit, narrate it, do the sound and foley, add music, and then distribute it, every single day. Top effort. And the length is ideal for my before work or late evening catchup.
Have you seen the highlights of the Ocean race. Imagine how difficult that is. Better quality and all done by 1 person per boat. Video shooting and editing.
But most important Dakar is one of the biggest motorsport event in the world and they have exclusive contracts with a massive number of broadcasters that's why they don't give UA-cam longer highlights
Believe me, they are pretty extended, back in south america the highlights were videos of like 3 minutes and categories like atv and ssv just showed a leaderboard, no commentary, still, would be great if these could extend at least 5 minutes more
@@cliveramsbotty6077Look up who has the broadcasting rights for your country. In many countries in Europe for example, there is an hour long program (with ads, so more like 45min of footage) on Eurosport every day covering Dakar.

I very much agree with "onetripwonders"! I think the commentary is absolutelly excelent and it makes for one of the highlights of my nights, while watching these gladiators fight the elements. And I also agree with "KingLuis", the addition of these mega chrono stages was a Win/Win for the dakar and it's viewership! Cheers from Coimbra, Portugal!
it would be 100% fine with all of us if the extended highlights had the same commentary but long 2 minute uninterrupted helicopter follows of individual vehicles that require zero editing effort - just throw the videos in with raw audio and let us get lost in the trance of the desert
Why doesn't Dakar do like F1 with a subscription service to get the full on details and experience so we can actually see everything! Amazing job that the UA-cam team does with and incredible commentary, but there's a lot missing... Please think about it!! I'd pay this subscription, including the Word Rally Raid, with the utmost pleasure!!

They can pretend that we are not here and talk smart like they know something about this rally.. but we all know that they are at the rock bottom of knowlage about this legendary race, and just want to earn some cash.. Still cant wait for those real extended extended highlights of the stage 2!

The course site is chosen for its scenic beauty and challenges. It’s laid out and marked and 7,891 kilometers or 4,903 miles of challenging terrain that can be navigated and enjoyed by the appropriate vehicles. I believe Dakar is good for the Overlanding community and the Overlanding community is good for Dakar. If Saudi Arabia put some effort towards marketing to the Overlanding community I wonder how many would make it a destination stop in their world travels. FYI: Interest in overlanding has grown more than 2,000% since early 2016 Overlanding continues to grow and there appear to be natural synergies of interests between Dakar and Overlanding. Certain people love and live for this terrain and beauty, perhaps an Overlanding, Powersports & Hiking Expo before Dakar would inspire a few towards more travel and tourism within the region. The only downside I can see is the lack of alcohol and the modern human inclination towards drinking. I’m not sure how many people would willingly holiday without alcohol.
Every year the same story with this same short recaps. You have the most amazing footage in the motosport world and you keep it for 20 second reels, cmon man... People will watch MORE of your content if this are longer, don't know how you don't get that.

"Extended highlights" that's the title of the video right? So why on a 9 min vid we have 4 and a half minutes of bikes and 4 and half min for the rest? Plus no mention of the classics or Original by Motul that really deserve a mention. I love the Dakar but I think that the highlights should be longer and cover all categories. This year is starting to look like a Motorbike only Dakar and I think that's disrespectful for all the other participants or maybe that's just me...

The addition of this chrono stage where the drivers/riders have to camp has got to be one of the best additions to the Dakar in the recent years.
