Thank you David! You are a world treasure! Happy Birthday!
Nice project ❤
It's Cisco's implementation of its acquisition of OpenDNS.
Great tool, had opportunity to set it up and work within it.
Nice project
Nice info. Well described even in 5-6 min
Glad you liked it
👌
Very interesting
Glad you think so!
is this much different from Cloudflare's 1 dot 1 dot 1 dot 2?
I am a newbie. What about your encrypted web traffic (443)? You can not read the files that are that are being downloaded (without some work) from my understanding.
@Yassinos01 Not when using DNS over TLS or any DNS over HTTPS provider. For example both Google and Cloudflare support both. Cloudflare even have 1.1.1.2 with build in anti malware list.
From the sounds of it, Cisco Umbrella Endpoint acts like a VPN, sitting in between you and your destination. You're building a secure tunnel with Umbrella, and it with the destination. Umbrella can thus inspect what you send, and what something might try to download from the destination. I think it acts like a man-in-the-middle, but "benign".
How to disable cisco
It’s a VPN.
I tried it at home here in the lab, was the worst software i had ever used. Tried even to see how much it would cost, no one around to answer questions. Not recommended at all !
You are funny! "The worst software" is just a "curated DNS service". And you didn't get that working? It takes balls to admit that.
You can stand under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh
So, Cisco is offering a service to keep everyone safe. What does Cisco gain from this?!
Cisco have a paid service as well as free service.
They gain money……….
@@PowerUsr1 I'd accept that, but how about my search history, my data in a way or another.
@@DavidBombalTech David, thank you for your videos. I understand the overall idea how the Internet works, but not the details and specifics. Now enlighten us please, aren't there no risks to changing one's DNS, mind you my ISP is not in the US? Would you please make a video also on how to set up the Cisco Umbrella for a private user who wishes to keep safe from malicious links ☺️🙏🏻
