I was at Parris Island in '05. It was a blurr at the barbershop. I did like listening to them talk to each other about their day-to-day lives. It was an ongoing conversation they had with each other. It was nice to get a piece of the "outside."
Major shout out to whoever thought to do this video. Liked the cinematography and the overall concept of civilians to some extent playing that formative role in new recruits lives.

Lol I remember the receiving Drill Instructors giving me a hard time about having long hair when I got there. I grew it long beforehand so they could cut it all off, I figured it would make the moment more memorable haha.

Quit lying. No recruit is even looking at their faces let alone recognizing them while at boot camp. Also, wasn't the line based on the platoon's formation? It's not like you can switch your place with someone else to make sure you sat at a specific barber's chair...

Me tootie gave me a lot of inspiration. You never know what you do for somebody just by cutting their hair. I got hit with a bottle 2 weeks before I came to Parris island and me tootie always spoke to me about not going back home and letting myself deteriorate everything that I had worked so hard for.

One of the barbers cut a recruits ear when I was in boot and made him bleed. The senior was PISSED. No recruit built no relationship with any barber in bootcamp. They scalped us so hard with those tools that all of our heads would burn for the rest of the day. Some of them were as mean as drill instructors which didn't make sense to me.
