One spring after a winter of really deep freeze and lots of rain in the spring the gravel roads got like mud soup. Not even the graters could do anything about it. Cars sunk so deep in the road you had to get out the back way for a while. School busses had to drop my girl off on the highway or they'd get sucked into the gravel and get stuck. Happened only once in 17 years I've lived here. The grater guy told me there wasn't much he could do until the deep frost melted. I learned something new talking to him!!
I wish the roads I bladed were this easy 😂 mountain roads with supers and goat heads that will stop you dead in your tracks. Great job the road looks good.
@@chriswalters810 sure have bud ,try running out before the end so you dont need to back blade (hint look for daylight under your board as your laying out)
Roll your board back in slight increments as you near the end to unload your material when your approaching the end , your welcome for the hints have a good day bud
Well lloyd . . . . . To Cut the holes out that form in that apron area, you have to move/cut the gravel in that area and the rest of the road. The gravel does not get replace and layed back in with your 'Hint". Over time, there would be a depression using your method. Maybe in your area, that works fine, but with our gravel type (MnDOT class 1), vehicle counts and traffic use on our roads, this technique works best of all the others tried. Thanks for the advice.

I live in in a township in Minnesota not far from the one in video and yes they are really good at maintenance on our gravel roads. As soon as they thaw in spring and all thru the summer as they get pot holed or washboarded they are on it grating again.

I would love working with that material! I am always dealing with huge rocks and grassy shoulders 6” higher than the roads.
That's how you save township money by having a good blade operator to pull that material up and lay it out perfectly
Wow now that's a operator. I miss working / operating my maintainer. 😢
outstanding job pal! like the back drag technique to feather out speed bump! 👌 great operator skills too.
I had to drive over one of those gravel ridges while they did our road. Big lump for a Buick to get over. But I made it.

I run H series cat grader sometimes I used back dragging but not always
Hold crap, this guy makes our operators look bad... Love how he does the transition to pavement by back blading...
Don't give him too much of a big head, he's bad enough already. lol
Anyone can run a grader, an operator knows what he wants the finished job to look like, and makes it come out that way.
Anyone can run a grader lol.... Good one
Why you have your mold board tilt so far forward? Usually a sign of an inexperienced operator who doesn't know where his cutting edge is
You've never ran a grader have you lloyd?

U got a better cutting edge when u have it all the way forward

Impressionante 💪💪👍👍👏👏👏
Great work.
Are you using the auto slope feature to establish the crown?
Not on this road - early spring, just to cut the wash boards and pot holes out. Generally run a 4% - 5% crown on high travel roads.

A good operator should know how to mix and condition the material before trimming and skimming before the final top layer goes on
Ningun equipo puede arrastrar material mientras retrocede genera daños en la hoja madre u hoja base mala operacion esta despedido el operador
Le falta conocimiento a ud
