Hey man awesome videos! Reading Anthracite seems like a great company to work for and it offers some of the best off roading in the world! The reclamation sites gives members access to some great trails right near where you were in this video. It is always a treat when you are able to ride dirt bikes and watch these awesome machines in action in the distance. In the dark-water off-roading spot there is an abandoned dragline and front shovel worth taking a look at if you come back.
I used to work in the underground coal mines in eastern Kentucky and our seams of coal ran horizontal with the rock and slate over and under it for the most part. A mountain range called the pine mountains supposedly has a simi vertical seam that is supposed to be between 12-20 ft thick but it's not been mined as of yet.

If the Coal is within a gelogic upthrust (aka geologic fault zone) such as the Pine Mountain Zone along the KY, WV, Va and Ky borders, the coal seams will follow the elevation change caused by the fault line. A little side note,those Marion drag lines can only move one direction ,backwards! So the operator needs to be aware of what is behind him at all times so as not get trapped!

Just too small for most mines. The same can be said for the Cat 777. We call them the wheelbarrows, there are a couple still being used in smaller power station coal mines here in Australia.
It does NOT follow the countours of the mountain, said mountain contours being shaped by erosion, the coal beds were contorted by geological processes LONG before erosion shaped the surface.

A driller and a rock truck are the two worst jobs on the hill. A drill operator always has loaders,trucks and dozers on their back plus no matter what they say he’s eating rock dust all day. The rock truck drivers never stop and every time you back up to the burm you’re wondering is the berm going to hold or is the whole fill going to sit down with you. The grader man has the best job and the fill dozer man has the second best.
I love how much shit people feel like they have to give you. It’s one of the things that really annoys me about being a young man in this kind of work. For some reason, older guys seem to get really pretentious about anything they catch you saying “wrong”. And when most of the time it’s not even completely wrong, just not how they would say it.
It has nothing to do with pretensesness. The men out on that job site work for a living. And along comes someones college educated nephew or who ever this young man is. That shows up on their job site a few times a year making these great you tube videos that where enhanced by the operator who filmed it with his drone and profecient skills. The kid belittles the man with his commentary instead of thanking him for his help in filming this.

But despite the fear they have generated, they are failing and coal production in nthe United States to fuel Germany's power plants is proof of that. Environmentalists have lost their gambit. In the future, we can expect a more reasoned and rational approach to this issue, emphasizing nuclear power in particular, and downplaying renewable energy, which has obviously failed.

The 6090 with a 45 to 60 yard bucket is most common although the 6120B with an 85 yard bucket is used to. Just 1 of my 395’s moves 20,000 yards per 12 hour shift. Get the idea now that 600k tons is childs play
