It took me like 2 hours to install I just drove my jeep up on four 2x6s Jack stands would work and everything came apart easy I do recommend a electric wrench or an air wrench due to lack of space it makes things go faster.
You're corret. According to the 2016 Jeep Patriot's owner's manual the maximum towing capacity is 2,000 pounds if the Jeep is properly equipped. Trailer hitches are often overrated for the vehicle they're designed for, which does not increase the vehicle's towing capacity.

Why remove the push pin fasteners?
The instructions recommend it, and it gives a little more room to work.
