0:26 I'm sorry, Swifty, but I just have to chuckle when you started off with, "First of all, no one is worshipping Ryan Poles..." Then the logo of Poles with sunglasses and a crown take the screen... Lol! It just struck me as funny .. 😂
I saw Badass play for the commanders Sunday night. The guy was friggin awesome. Would have paid him a lot more than Nate Davis!! Nate is a mystery. He needs someone to motivate him because he has done it before. Coaching is our problem, obviously!!
I will say this about Poles. I don’t understand how he keep missing out on OL line players when he uses to be one himself. He knows what it takes first hand!
With the picks he has next year, if it doesn't get done, then there is a problem. With Amegadjie and Bates coming back soon things may get better faster than everyone thinks this year.
I totally agree with what you’re saying !! The offensive line definitely needs improvement for our quarterback and Running game needs improvement also for Running and passing Balance !! And it seems to be learning and transition year for the Bears team players and coaching and this process gets smoother and faster and everyone needs more game Reps !!! Starting and backups with many young players !!
Very Fair points on both the good and the bad, with all that I still have Poles as the best GM we have had in 10 to 15 years... yea we had some brutal Gm's people go look it up :).
Right on target Swifty! It's a rebuild in progress. I do believe o-line is tops in 2025 with 1 first round & 2 2nd round it's foolish not to get 2 o-lineman like he did for the defense! GO BEARS AND BEAR DOWN 🐻 ❤❤❤
I’m not impressed with Bates , Shelton, and even Tev took a step back. These guys should’ve had more reps in preseason games. We are way too conservative. The calls on short yardage is a joke. Grow some balls Flus!!
Finally, an analysis I agree with. Draft capital comes with a premium. One can't just trade a pic for an offensive lineman because no one gives up those type of players in trades. The ones that make it to FA have to be scrutinized because after they received the bag they rest on their laurels. Pryor and Kiran Omegagie are up along with Bates. We have to fix the line from within.
I was saying on Draft Night on Adam Mason’s board that we should have traded into the late 1st or early 2nd round to go after JPJ or Frazier. We could have used our 3rd and Carolina’s 2025 2nd (maybe a sweetener) to jump in there. It would have been nice.
It's called adversity, let's see what this team is about it's only three games too many people are panicking the division is not won in the fourth week.
Exactly! If we took Jms and jpp we wouldn’t be having these issues right now and they would be on rookie contracts. Hell connor Williams would have been a good pick up
I am surprised that given that the two top GM positions are former OL that they have had such difficulty stabilizing the OL though I am glad for Odunze vs trading down to pick up OL. I am surprised that Wright doesn’t look better than he has
Swifty you are right are GM has made some good moves but he has not did a good job pertaining to the offensive line and he has been there for 3 years he needs to fix that problem
We haven't seen Ryan Bates play center yet this season and he will be cleared to practice by this time next week. I'm going to hope he is the best of the bunch. Kramer was a weak pick and it surprises me that he is still around. He must be good for something but I don't know what. lol! Poles will finish the O-line in the draft next year as well as get another edge rusher. Just hope that Bates can be that starting center we need! BEAR DOWN!!
So far in three years, that O-line has not gotten any better on the field. I don’t have much confidence in Poles building a good O-line, until he can prove otherwise. I hope he will prove me wrong and soon. I can’t stand watching another game where the O-line is playing on their ass.
Another miss is David Montgomery. Poles did not want to pay him but he did pay Dandre swift He is not as good running back and he used a draft choice for Roshon Johnson. That could have used on a OL This was one of his worst decisions
You're using fuzzy math for your "he turned Roquan Smith into Edmunds Edwards and Brisker. The trade resulted in getting Baltimore's #2 and #5 round picks with AJ Klien. He turned the #2 into" Yes he did" Chase Claypool and the #5 into Noel Sewell. All of those players are no longer on the team, just like Roquan. So in reality he turned Roquan into nothing! But I'm sure you're going to explain how you got that connection. Are you getting some kind of stipend from Poles to prop him up?? He's the worst GM I've lived through with this team. And I was a kid when GH was HC.
No he literally used the PICK he got from trading Roquan to draft Jaquan Brisker. What does the claypool trade the next season have to do with it? Your math is the one that is fuzzy lol
The reason everyone is frustrated is cause he had enough in the draft to get a couple of offense of lineman but he chose a kicker and mediocre offense of f lineman whotch doesn't make sense in drafting a #1 QB starring him write away frustrating as a
Yes, Poles has missed on the Oline. But it also seems most people are ignoring the fact that he has had to replace every position on the oline because it was so bad when he got here and his first draft was short on top picks. Plus we don't know how their draft board was set.
I have full confidence in Poles. He has done a remarkable job. Fixed everything but the OL. Yes this year he should have added a center either Biadasz, Cushenberry, or Brewer. He could have also added Jon Runyan at LG and moved Jenkins to RG. He has gone cheap with backups instead of upgrading the starters when he could have sone both. Nonetheless, with $80 million in free agency (once he lets Davis go) and 4 picks in the top 100, he has the resources to make it happen. Other misses beyond the OL are: Retaining Chris Morgan as the OL coach and then promoting him to run coordinator Claiming Alex Leatherwood off waivers Signing PJ Walker as a backup QB I have analyzed all of the OL free agents and draft prospects available to Poles in the last three years. Key learnings: In 2022, he was over the cap so he could not spend on premium free agents. He could have drafted the following above average players: Jurgens, Goedeke, Raimann, Parhan, Tom. Braxton Jones worked out well and had the fifth highest PFF grade amongst OL drafted last year. In 2023, he best free agents were Seumolo and McGary. However, he did a great job drafting Darnell Wright, the highest graded OL in that class. He did pursue McGlinchey and I am glad he chose Denver vs the Bears. In 2024, he drafted Kiran A. in the third round. IOL players drafted ahead of him Barton, JPJ, Frazier, Adams, Beebe. Already mentioned the C available. He would have had to pay top money for the best guards available.
PJ Walker felt like a move he should have made, the smart thing was realizing Bagent was better and finding a better player in UDFA. As far as Leatherwood, I would take that chance 10 out of 10 times. A 1st round pick in his 2nd year in the NFL?
@@SwiftSportsNetwork You are right PJ Walker seemed initially like a good signing but still a miss (similar to Nate Davis signing) as Walker flopped. I would have picked up Leatherwood as well once he cleared waivers so the Bears would not have to be stuck with that 1st round salary. The Raiders reached when they drafted him as he was not considered a 1st round pick.
As much as I like Montgomery we were not at a point in the rebuild where we should’ve been paying a running back. We probably weren’t in that spot this year either but if we did we should’ve gotten a more physical running back than D’Andre Swift
The Chiefs OLine was actually one of the better units in 2020. The problem was they lost four of five starters including both starting tackles by the time they played in Super Bowl LV.
Swifty, I will say it like this: if Poles would've addressed the OL in the past draft, we wouldn't have the team that we have now and would still have people complaining about it. I am getting a little sick of folks thinking that we will win the Super Bowl with a rookie QB during a REBUILD. Considering last year's record, REALISTIC fans hope to be at least 9-8, ESPECIALLY with how the NFC North is looking and playing this season. I hope that Poles is drowning all this crap out. I prefer his philosophy of being annual playoff contenders versus winning a Super Bowl every 20 years or so. 🐻🐻🐻🐻⬇⬇⬇⬇
I want bears fans to go look at the best teams in the league and count how many hits vs misses they have in their major draft, trade, and free agency transactions. No GM is perfect. Most moves in the NFL don't work out. So why are people expecting Poles' track record to be perfect or near perfect? The 49ers shoot themselves in the foot somehow almost every other year. Yet they're perennial contenders. On the other hand, look at the Rams. They sold out their future for 1 super bowl and they've been struggling to get back to the playoffs since. There are absolutely things to criticize Poles for, but this team is soooo much better than it was 3 years ago. Building a sustainably good roster takes years and years. The 9ers, Chiefs, Ravens, Eagles... they didn't build their roster in two or three offseasons, they've been working up to it for nearly a decade or more. I figured we'd have learned our lesson last year starting 0-4 and showing massive improvement down the stretch. Plus now we have a rookie QB. It takes time. The roster is better. Caleb is getting better. None of this will even be a discussion by end of the season.
Plenty of blame to go around, scheme and coaching has to have something to do with this, considering these backs averaged over a yard more a carry with Getsy and many of the same linemen. The protection in pass sets is getting better, so fix the run scheme, and upgrade OL talent this offseason, unless something falls in our lap before then.
He put the money into the defense. I would have passed on Edmunds and put more into the offensive line. He has made mistakes.... Claypool, Davis, and I think the jury is out on Edmunds. Plus, I would have taken an offensive lineman instead of Brisker. I guess the biggest question is does he have the right head coach. I wouldn't anoint him as King Poles. He has made more good moves than bad ones... in my mind. Yet, Lovie deserves a lot of the credit for winning his final game giving the Bears the number one pick. I don't think it took a rocket scientist to parlay that into a haul.
Yes, when you have the resources that he has had, and the background he has, he absolutely deserves criticism Don't sugar coat it. He doesn't get a pass, putting the biggest piece of the Bears puzzle in half a century, behind a line that is just as bad as it has been since he has been here. You don't get to justify that action, because he has done good things at other positions. Period. If Williams does not develop, or heaven forbid, gets hurt, then Poles moves to solidify the defense or wr room, means absolutely nothing. Zero. Nada. He can have put together a #1 defense, drafted a fantastic qb, resigned top notch players, and made great trades. And if you are being intellectually honest, signing and paying good money for a RB when you haveba back that averaged over 5 yards a clip last year, and spending money on bust center after bust center after center, while making your most important drafted player in 50 years, run for his life weekly, with zero runngame, should be screamed from the hills before spending half the video defending him
For your position to be true then you would have wanted him to draft linemen vs talented positions - sort of like Detroit did. Trouble is that Poles only has so much capital and preferred talent vs linemen. Your points are valid but you do not paint the rest of the picture. What does the team you would have built look like? What's your CAP situation when you ended? I think it would be interesting to play that out. Maybe you are onto something. I know I wish we took Jalen Carter vs #58. You are passionate about the Bears like me and I think if we are a little bit patient we will turn the page. I have been watching the Bears since 1965. Poles is more like Jim Finks than any other schumcks they have had sitting in the GM chair in the team's history. Bear Down - WE ARE DUE.
@abelincoln6785 or perhaps take the free agent money he spent on Patrick, Shelton, Swift, and a couple others, and invest that money into proven O lineman until he could refill through the draft. You have a rb who averaged 5+ yards per carry last year, and another who showed alot of promise as a rookie. Instead his big FA signing was Swift, and we are last in the league in rushing, amd put the most important drafted player in 50 years, behind an O line that is just as bad now as when he took over
$90+ mill in dead cap space his first season. He's had 3 total 1st round picks. Who did you not want him to take? Darnell Wright, Rome Odunze or Caleb Williams?
Those definitely are misses but to me the coaches are more responsible. I didn't get a good vibe what Shane Waldron said today in the press conference. There's a clear disconnect in games on offense. That's not on Ryan Polea it's coaching incompetence.
@@SwiftSportsNetwork My only complaint about this is at the time the roster wasn’t built to the point of taking on this type of project. A converted WR turned DE. It reminded me of the TE Pace took as a project (Thelen?) I think.. This pick and this roster spot is now still hanging out there providing no return. Pick could have been used on a legitimate DE or a legitimate OL to develop. But I will say Poles success rate far exceeds his failure rate and I believe he has this organization on the right path, just gotta keep on working and bolstering the OL and bottom of the roster. I also don’t think Waldron is as much the issue as Morgan is. This OL has underperformed ever since he has been here. Fields running abilities and Williams ‘better than Fields’ passing abilities, he is still learning, have both covered up and exposed the poor blocking schemes this line has had.
This OL problem is not unique to the Bears. I would guess that OL is the hardest position group to get build successfully. You have to get five guys right and they have to stay healthy and no one gets them in one year. Normally will take about 4 or more years,. You can bring in draft choices and FA's that don't work out. Injuries take their toll etc. I follow the Broncos too and they spent 6 years to fix the RT position. Today they have a good line - mix of draft and FA. Look at how bad the Giants, the Jets have been. Poles needs a center and they have tried a number of them. He needs a RG unless Pryor excels, they need a better LT and should let their best guy -Jenkins leave in FA. Move Jones over, add the center and RG and here we go. We are not far off but we are so used to losing it seems sometimes like no matter what they do the Bears mess it up. We fans have to get past our own past hurts. Swifty brings a healthy perspective for us the long suffering fans.
if one wants to blame poles for bringing in the wrong guys that’s fine but they can’t say he’s done nothing. he’s taken a tackle every year: braxton; wright and KA he spent money on a guard. players have just under performed. he’s just totally whiffed at center. maybe bates will pan out. i still think the following will work out. LT: KA LG: tev C: bates RG: pryor RT: wright
Im out on Poles, i was critical when his first 2 draft picks were DBs over linemen. Then he uses two top 10 picks of specialty players and neglects the line again. Smh
Bottom line this man is doing job. He’s not going to get every pick right. BUT he got majority of them right. How quickly y’all forget. I’m with you Swift… Bear Down!
Another thing that is important is the poor job offensive line coordinator Chris Morgan is doing with this group. They're making too many mistakes and I know it does take time for OL's to gel but give me a break. What can we frame Morgan with that will get the feds involved and a mysterious disappearance like the DC about this time last season? lol! I'm only half kidding! LOL!!
I feel bad for poles, because chicago bears are a trash organization. How many people were calling for new ownership before he was hired? He not only has to rebuild football team, he also has to rebuild franchise and change national narrative that makes bears laughing stock of the league. Now people want to fire him... chicago bears and some fans are pathetic. Poles is best GM bears have ever had. He's doing true rebuild, which takes years. He inherited the situation a GM could inherent. If he is fired bears will never recover.
Big, but QB is glaring. I mean, yeah, there are a lot of peanut shells laying around, but what what about the elephant? Justin had less of a line, but wowed us, without 52 passing attempts. Weak, slow, inaccurate and immature.
Don't agree. I get your point. He is the weakest of the Bears 3 CBs. He naturally will get targeted much more than the other two. If you compare him to other #3 CB's in the league I think you will see he is above par for that position.

Swifty brings a healthy perspective for us the long suffering fans.
if one wants to blame poles for bringing in the wrong guys that’s fine but they can’t say he’s done nothing.
he’s taken a tackle every year: braxton; wright and KA
he spent money on a guard.
players have just under performed.
he’s just totally whiffed at center. maybe bates will pan out.
i still think the following will work out.
LT: KA
LG: tev
C: bates
RG: pryor
RT: wright
Im out on Poles, i was critical when his first 2 draft picks were DBs over linemen. Then he uses two top 10 picks of specialty players and neglects the line again. Smh
They were rated #1 and #2 on his board.
@@SwiftSportsNetwork He chose a punter in the 4th round and his starting LT in the 5th round. His board is 🗑️
Bottom line this man is doing job. He’s not going to get every pick right. BUT he got majority of them right. How quickly y’all forget. I’m with you Swift… Bear Down!
Thanks for the comment!!! Baer Down
Bears coaching is as* so far, Chris Morgan needs to up his game
Sounds good, all except for the fact that they might ruin a promising young quarterback in the meantime.
Chris Morgan needs to go, Shame Waldron is ineffective, Flus is on the hot seat, is Poles next on the block ?? Just asking
LOL!!
OLine isn't our biggest problem
Bring chase claypool back
is he in the CFL yet? lol
@@SwiftSportsNetwork yea but he was always good they did him bogus cause he was double teamed or getting held
Stevenson is a miss..how many times does he give up big plays
Don't agree. I get your point. He is the weakest of the Bears 3 CBs. He naturally will get targeted much more than the other two. If you compare him to other #3 CB's in the league I think you will see he is above par for that position.
Saying poles suck is crazy and I’m not even talking about u swifty u fans are ungrateful
Poles wont do anything
Thanks for the commen
Change ur logo, poles sucks
What? Casual fans are so fickle 😂
