Sometimes the psychiatrists are more mentally messed up than their patients. Believe me, I've been seeing psychiatrists since 1991 and I've met some really bad ones.

I watched the whole video and I don't remember the doctor ever mentioning that this drug can kill. I don't believe that it will kill you, as I have been on a small dose of Seroquel since about 1991. I have never encountered any life-threatening side effects. I do encounter some unpleasant side effects, but if I was to cut down my Seroquel, then I without a doubt would end up in the hospital. That happened last year and believe me, you don't want to end up there. The hospital staff psychiatrist made some detrimental changes to my medication, sharply cutting back on a medication that was of great benefit to me for over twenty-five years. He also increased my dosage of Seroquel, which in my case led to me becoming catatonic. It took a lot of visits and work on my part to cut down the dosage with my regular, new psychiatrist. Everybody's brain is different, so you really need to be assertive with your psychiatrist and state how the drug affects you.

I couldn't sleep after my daughter was murdered last June. I talked to a psychiatrist about medications. I didn't want to take benzos so we decided on a low dose of seroquel (25 - 100 mg). It really helped me sleep, but by November I slipped into a deep depression. I already have SAD so I figured that was the cause. By April I noticed that I had developed a huge belly and my clothes were too tight. I didn't think I would gain weight from such a low dose, but my age (75) might have been a factor. Also I continued to feel depressed and have crying spells that would last for hours. I know my mind and body pretty well-I should after all these years-and I felt like all the dopamine had been drained from my system. I am currently off seroquel for a month and I'm temporarily taking wellbutrin to get the dopamine elevated. I also take a bunch of vitamins and nootropics. I don't weigh myself, but I can already see and feel a reduction in the belly fat. I'm not sorry that I took Seroquel because it really helped me get through a terrible time. Once I feel more balanced I am going to get off the wellbutrin as well. Best wishes to all who are struggling with mental health issues. It's been a lifelong challenge for me, but generally speaking I feel better without meds so I only use them when absolutely necessary.

Given your circumstances about your daughter, it's okay to feel the way you feel. The mental pain is the result of love. It's how love works. While taking something for sleep may be in order, don't try to run from grief. You have to accept the grief but stop accepting it as pain, but as honoring your daughter. Take those times to turn negative thoughts into strength given to you by your daughter. She is watching you and it's the best way to communicate with her and acknowledge her existence as something positive in your life, whether she is occupying a previous biological body you created for her or currently existing in a way we don't understand yet. She IS there. With that being said, you are obviously taking a rational approach to medication, and it's good that you are choosing to taper off and let your natural chemistry do what it needs to do. Our chemistry changes with behavior and it's up to us to make that happen. I wish you well.

This is a drug that I have been on for almost thirty years. I have to be on it or else I will become mentally ill and end up in the hospital. But I am prone to getting bad side effects from being on the drug. Basically, it makes me feel physically sick and tired most of the time. Mentally I'm fine, but for a long time I have felt too physically tired to do even volunteer work.

I have had terrible experiences with the psychiatrists I've had recently with regard to the prescribing of Seroquel. Both doctors over prescribed Seroquel with resulting bad side effects. I initially was prescribed too much Seroquel and as I am very sensitive to any side effects, began to show signs of catatonia. I did not unfortunately associate that initially with Seroquel, but eventually had to go into hospital, where another bad psychiatrist prescribed even more Seroquel. By this time I was way too overmedicated, but since I had very little to do during the day, it didn't impact my life too much. Now that I have been out of the hospital for a couple of months, I realize that I do far better on a reduced dosage of Seroquel and my strong antidepressant. I was very disappointed in both doctors, as neither of them seemed to care much about how I felt about the drugs or any bad side effects.. I was shocked that they didn't give me the one medication that would have gotten rid of the catatonia.

Its so very hard to advocate for ourselves, when professionals can't see the patient thru their roster of diagnosis traits. I understand.
But hey - i have something for you to look for, ill go see if I can find the paper also. I hate dropping names of other presenters on the work of any presenter. But doctors are to work together, so why should that be different in informational presentation online? This is the patient and public education sphere.
So - in regard of the higher doses. This paper which I didnt read all of and then lost, which i gained knowledge of thru the huberman podcast prrsentations about solving bipolar and massive depression - 300mgs was no better than 150 mgs nd 800 was no better than 300mgs. For the high dose set. Maybe the good Doc here would find that, choose to tackle the topic of dosage and mechanism, and do a video to delve into that research. Just that.
When the drug makes life worse then the condition, how do we raise our hand and advocate for ourselves? In s seroquel snow storm? Its called, "being snowed out' and a patient can't actually effect life changes or develop coping skills when snowed out by the drug. I feel like with hypomania or hypermania or massive depression - the snow forecast is not always looked at and managed well enough - because its so hard to knock down some symptoms that happen in cycles. I always feel like, why when seeking help does anyone think a patient would adhere to treatment when the treatment removes the ability to function - when a person is already low functioning that can mean literally nothing happens. Not even eating. And thats WAY to much drug. I dont care what any individual thinks, doctor or not - when its hard to take basic care of ones own self thru drug treatment there is a problem with the drug treatment. If a monkey was given the drug to a level were it no longer botheres to eat and drink or do any of its selfhood activities... what was worse right?
This is so hard. This part of treatment.
Where is the snowsqual, and when is it going to ruin the day and open the door for some serious anxiety and depression because its frightening to be leveled like that. And kept there.

Serquel is being subscribded in massive numbers in the Western world now. Even as sleep, mostly as sleep medication. Elderly, past 60 are not to take them at all but are, often for years without any checks/ bloodwork and elders often uses many medecines. So why is this anti psychotic medecine so increadible popular to prescribe?

One thing that I learned from taking a small dose of Seroquel for over twenty-five years is that the medication can really make your mouth dry. So, I really would advise anyone taking it to not use Colgate Total 24 hour antibacterial toothpaste. That combination has made my mouth even more dry and lead to problems with having a sore throat and a resulting bad cough and cold. I used to use it, but now will switch to a regular toothpaste.

I am wary of this med. I am taking 25 mg of Seroquel . It is enough to level my rollercoaster Bipolar, depression, and ADD . I’ve read about the effects people have as they write about how they are being effected. I hope you would have the doc decrease the dose if possible!

    • @gillianannable1213

@@Laura-rt2zu i was reading in regard of the higher doses. 300mgs was bo better than 150 mgs. And 800 was no better than 300mgs. Im looling for the paper this was cited from. Maybe the good Doc here would find it and do a video to delve into that research.
The lipid profile goes into regflag land, the weight gain is really a metabolic syndrome that this drug creates. Im trying learn about that also. Its metabolic syndrome, leading to a ruined lipid profile snd at risk stages for stroke and cardiac event. There is also a qt elongation risk if sodium gets low or thru drug interaction. This is something I dont understand well either. I keep watching videos snd getting the gist and the gist plus some mechanism - but there is not enough focus on this metabolic syndrome. It isn't even given proper nomenclature. I feel this is because its such a bad side effect, its pussy footed around.
Exercise helps metabolic syndrome, but really - its not going to be able to manage the lipid profile over time.
Its the major problem with this drug.
Hopefully, this presented will read and respond to that - with a video about the mechanism. The constipation side effect is due to reduced parastolic motion - is this part of the dopamanergic action? Its sluggish bowel leading to constipation. Not constipation. Thats the result of sluggish bowel. Its really sinister the language used to describe by the drug company. Im not attacking this drug, it's helping me. But that fine line is life threatening - due to the metabolic syndrome and sluggish bowel. I find the data inaccurate, kind of skips over the parts that are so important. I AM THINKING MY HEALTH - Can we have a video about specifically THIS in relationship with this drug.

I am delivering a sermon to you 🙏😊 please read
Consistently Pray for forgiveness, guidance in a good (positive) direction, and for help against evil. Pray to be saved from hell (whatever that may be). Pray for your friends and your family too, it only takes a minute or so/less at a time to pray. Do it and your life will slowly get better, or maybe quickly. It probably just depends on you and the kind of person you are/have been. Don't wait until its too late and you have to suffer the consequences of built up bad karma from immoral acts/unrepented sins. Maybe together we can help make the world a better place by changing ourselves for the better, and changing things around us for the better.
And addressing/thanking the CREATOR, LORD GOD at the beginning and end of your prayers would be a good idea 😊
Or just be my friend if you don't want to say the prayer 😄
I'm trying to help you get right with the LORD 🙏
    Amen.
I have worded a short prayer for you to say if you are not sure what words to use, it may not be the best but here it is 😊
    '' CREATOR, LORD GOD,
Please forgive me and my friends and my family for our immoral acts, please help guide us in a positive direction and please help us against evil. Please save us from Hell and have mercy on our souls. Thank you CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen. ''
Please say this at least once a day for at least a month, do it longer if you want to and can 🙏
You should prostrate yourself if you don't want to do spoken prayer, or do both 🙏😊 Please worship the LORD GOD and not any idol.
Please put your hands together 🙏 bow your head and say this prayer:
"CREATOR, LORD GOD, please know that I worship you and not any idols. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen"
Say ' Om Namah Shivaya ' out loud or in your head 108 times, or try to do it 1008 times 😊 try to do it everyday if you want
repeat this aloud for as long as you want to, try to do it for like an hour a day or say it in a prayer "Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, have mercy on me, a sinner"
You can also say this prayer once a day or repeat it aloud as many times as you would like to:
"Hail Mary, full of grace. The Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen."
    Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
    Philippians 4:6-7
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
"O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of mercy for us, I trust in You!" Repeat this aloud at least 3 times or as many as you want, do it everyday if you can 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I apologize for all the words 😊 I know how it may look

    METABOLIC SYNDROME AND SLUGGISH BOWEL

What do u mean, is "thought to rebalance"? Is seroquel an SNRI then?

    • @ThinkYourHealth
      @ThinkYourHealth  11 місяців тому

Seroquel works and acts on the following receptors in your body: D2, 5-HT2A, H1, alpha 1 and 5-HT1A receptors. For example the D2 receptor is associated with dopamine. As there are 5 different type of receptors, Seroquel works over the D2 receptor and regulated reuptake and synthesis of Dopamine.5HT receptors are serotonin receptors.Seroquel works on these receptors.Seroquel is an atypical antipsychotic. As it works on different receptors and it primarily affects Dopamine and Serotonin levels. When these levels are "off balance" there is the propensity for side effects such as extrapyramidal side effects.
