BIG thanks for this video my friend! Saved me when 11 keys did not work at all after some dufus (me!) spilled coffee into the keyboard! All good now! Someone commented on tip to use a tool in the hole for putting the rubber contact cover “pegs” back into the circuit board- I did not see that until I was done BUT- I used a simple point end round toothpick to gently push them in- worked beautifully! Everyone keep making music- it improves the world!! 🥰
Thanks for your positive response on my video. Appreciated for leaving a positive comment. Consider following my keyboard vlog i do keyboard tips and tricks
I just bought this keyboard at a thrift shop for only 60$ and there’s just one key popping out, so I’m going to try and fix it! I’ll post another comment if I can fix it
If you look closely at the rubber membrane the peg that goes through the circuit board has a small hole in it that you can put a tool into and push the rubber peg through without removing the circuit board. Just a tip for anyone that didn't know.
I didn’t read your comment before but I had the same problem! I came up with the idea to use a toothpick and it worked! (Be careful toothpick can poke a hole to the rubber membranes so I had to cut the edge and use the wider part of the toothpick to stuff it in)
You’re awesome, brother!! This is definitely going to help many pianist solve a lot of issues in the future. Definitely brave. I could never dig that deep into the keyboard. After watching you, definitely made me feel better about it. Good stuff!
This video really helps.. If something problematic happens to your keyboard.... Normaly casio keyboard has a poor contact ruber.... But their key actions is durable on my opinion compared to yamaha.. Yamaha ruber is more durable compared with casio.. But the action is not durable on my opinion
You are WONDERFUL!!! Thank you so so so so so so so so so much! I repaired my sons keyboard after it was dropped - there were two keys that didn't bounce back up again and your video showed me how to access the area where the problem lay! I found a couple of broken plastic clip thngs, used Gorilla glue to fix back and put it all back together and hey presto! It works like a dream!!!!
Hello, thanks for this video, it is helpful to see how to repair, There is a seller on ebay that has them like: Casio privia hanmer key I hope it helps
Thank you for taking the trouble to explain how to do this. My 9yo son has a passion for piano and I was wondering how he would keep his enthusiasm up as his keyboard had a few dud notes that were annoying him to the point where I was wondering if another keyboard was on the cards. Thanks to you, all is well. Kind regards from Australia.
Great video. I wish the video included successfully playing the keys that were "too loud" in the end to show that the repair worked correctly. I think it's possible to do this repair without removing the board that the rubber membrains are on, which would be slightly less risky. Great video for people experiencing this issue or similar. For people who are having a different issue (key not working at all) - May need to clean the contact under the rubber with isopropyl alcohol on a Q-tip cotton swab or similar. This can happen due to minor spills on the keyboard or something getting in there.
EXCELLENT - great video. My friend has the th PZ-330 and one of his keys is sticking up higher than the rest of the keys. Does this sound like a fixable froblem for a DIY man Mark?
There is a key that is like pushed in and you can lift it up a little. The key still works but barely. I suspect that the spring might be broken. Any help?
Thanks a lot Sir for sharing, have learn a lot specially on my first dismantling the unit. Its 2nd octave do, do# and Eb failed to make sound. Have positioned the conductive rubber and also clean the pads. And its dine
Ola amigo há diferença nas teclas da linha cdp casio para privia em termos de firmeza? As teclas deslocam para os lados? No caso qual tem teclas mais firmes?
to get the rubber nipples back into the holes of the contact board I was having a real problem pushing down with my figners (wouldn't work) . I ended up using a sewing needle and gently pushed them back in with the dull side of the needle, worked like a charm.
Why did you flip back so many keys when you only needed to clean under one key?..also its best to replace the rubber strips..cleaning rarely fixes the problem.
I remain stumped - the 38th key (B flat) sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I took it apart, cleaned the contacts, etc, and same issue. I'm not sure what the grey rubber strip is called, but has two contact points under each key to touch the circuit board when a key is pressed - like two nipples with black material at the contact points (felt or rubber or something) that make contact to the board and make sound. If I tap the connection with another set of contact points from another key the 'dead' note works! So the circuit is working, the issue seems to be with the rubber strip/contact points on that particular key. Thought I had it, but to no avail. Any tips are welcome, I'm out of ideas at the moment..... Thank you!
@@MarkSomosoMusic Thank you, I just bought the Casio PX-360 piano 2 years ago and it turned out very well, it's a triple sensor and you have wooden ones.
Great tutorial. We did the process and cleaned some keys but now the right side of the entire keyboard does not work only the left side. Any suggestions? Thank you..
Can you do a video on how to put back together a Williams Legato III by any chance? I completely disassembled mine, and now I don’t know how to put it back together. 🤦🏽♀️
Hey thanks so much for this video! Would it be similar for a privia px770? Is it possible to skip the removal of the plastic flex board? And instead just pop out a few keys around the area in question, if you can pop the contact rubber back in properly from the top?
I repaired mine ( Casio privia px-a100) just by cleaning under the contact rubber. You can pop it back in properly from the top - they are tiny holes. I used the wider part of a toothpick and stuffed it in the holes. Be careful not to damage the contact rubber - I damaged one hole so I had to cut the edge of the toothpick and use the wider part. Try to stuff it in as gently as possible.
That rubber contact setup is similar to TV/ Video handsets. They get filthy with dust and goo inside from all the handling. I have taken them apart and washed them in soapy water. Let them all dry first. No problems.
The cat peed on my keyboard while it was stored away in an attic... It was protected but some went through, nice ! 😕 Some keys were not velocity sensitive anymore. I opened it and cleaned everything with an electronic spray and a dry cloth. Some keys came back, some still have the velocity problem, but mainly the first five keys of the right electronic board (green one) are not playing any sound anymore. Do you think the corrosion killed it ? Thanks
