This is the project that took me the most time and dedication. Starting from the original DVD (480p 24fps) I divided the video into 6 different parts, in order to avoid stressing my PC's RAM memory too much, and I interpolated each of them individually to obtain the complete video in 480p 48 fps. The frame interpolation took about 5 days. I then remastered the full video from 480p to 2160p. Remastering took another 3 days.
The result is so good that i couldn't resist from asking you a favor, i would be grateful if you could remaster Queensryche's Operation: Livecrime the same way. Thank you!

I mean, you can play harder music than Metallica, but I've never seen a band perform at such a consistently all-in level, and they have been doing it for the last four decades.@@AriaBraham-ee8qh
One word. RAW. This is easily, hands down, no questions asked, the best most rawest and heaviest metal concert ever. Non-debatable. Not because of how fast they can play, or how low the guitars sound. It’s purely because of the energy. The aggression the charisma the dynamics with each other on stage the dialogue between songs the props representing the message the size of the crowd… AND of course possibly their peak performance ability while drunk and coked up 😂 Lars beating the shit out of that snare, Kirk being hella precise, Jason with amazing energy and bass thrashing with his head banging, and James with the anger and aggression with his F.U. attitude playing the guitar that was made for him, the beautiful white explorer. This concert is pure Metal, goes beyond the music.
The transition from the ending of to live is to die into master of puppets is so fuckn heavy it’s disgusting. To live is to die was played so incredibly in sync and they looked badass just looking somber up there before invading the crowd with a monstrous classic like master of puppets
This is when the band still had the underground vibe...before the fame of the Black album would engulf them. I still love them today and have seen them in concert 7 times. However, there is something so raw and powerful about this performance...just awesome.
Stellar work. This is fucking insanely good, feels less like something you are watching and more immersive like you're there. Greatest concert ever recorded just got THAT much better. Thank you so much for this.
I don't give a shit what others say, but Ulrich is a great drummer! You can understand his drumming from miles away, and it's really something to create a legacy like he has! His playing in AJFA is pure gold!!!
Precisely!!! That’s what they were amazing at, they would feed off of the crowds energy and return it, you can see them oozing with energy and aggression!!!! That’s more important than playing all the notes right!!!
@@jdpazmino2010 That's exactly why I don't understand why people like Nirvana late 93-94 In Utero Tour Shows and call fhem their favorite. After The second hald of 93 and release of In Utero during shows you can see that Cobain was losing the excitement of playing live. People will argue that in his personal life he was still happy, but I also find weird when people obsess over his personal life. My only business is seeing him stage and his last tour shows were yeah super tight and even had a new guitarist and a tour cellist and acoustic sets and even musically more complex, but considering that whole album consisted mostly of songs he had already written and performed live since '91 or earlier, I can easily compare that the energy was just not there for most shows for Cobain as a frontman, you can just tell he rlly didnt want to perform anymore. Mind you Nirvana was around for ~5 years total and metallica had already been around for 8 years during this show. I get a lot more excitement watching Nirvana perform in their 1989 - early 1993 era. So much rawness and energy from only 3 members. I wish someone would have been able to stop Kurt from doing what he did and helped him get around and take a break from touring and spend time with his daughter, but I understand things were difficult for his mental health and I understand no one could have done anything to stop it since he had already tried to multiple times.
True. Don't know much about Nirvana but can easily recognize they were amazingly gifted musicians especially Cobain. But yes people tend to forget these guys are humans, if you cut them they will bleed. Metallica has also had their ups and downs. @@theDragoon007yaboiCJ
Great metal has come after...but it isn't stadiums if u get me...I thank metallica for getting me into metal as a kid but mostly getting me into music itself...this show tho...my first show ever was meshuggah at the troc in Philly with strapping young lad as the opener. I never would have gotten deep at 13-14 without metallica. And I mean all of it..jazz, blues, electronic and mostly classical in terms of understanding. Metal will always be my fav though...and it started w this band. The only music genre/medium still uncontrolled. The voices of truth lay here. If you really wanna boil it down what is this show? Total freedom of expression. And it's beautiful
I had this vhs set in elementary school. I’m 36 now and I’ve never heard anything close to Metallica. Truly the best band to ever exist. So happy I got to see them everytime they came to Atlanta and had a bad ass grandpa to introduce me at a young age.
strongly disagree, now it is a job for them to maintain and they are fathers and all steps on stage seem to be scripted. I've attended megadeth, slayer and metallica concerts 12 years ago and metallica was a dissapointment. Yngwie Malmsteen was top notch in 2012, I was very surprised by the energy of this gentleman.
My family moved to Australia from Ireland in 2008 and this was the soundtrack for me and my brother. I’m a drummer he’s a guitarist but this is the best Metallica concert of all time. We both played for our music exam Metallica and did well
It's amazing how if you drop down from D standard to D tuning, "The Thing That Should Not Be," sounds "scarier" than the album version, here! I believe (to this day). Metallica still plays it in this key, potrayed in this concert! It's definitely a kickass song that grabs you and won't let go!
and for about 4 years straight they did like shows for about 3 fuckin hours non stop with no supporting bands. People may give them flack now but they had more energy than anyone else at the time
In my utmost sincere opinion, THIS concert here is still my absolute favorite out of all of their performances. San Diego '92 was a great one, also, but the overall production for this one makes it an absolute eargasm, especially when you hear 'Thing'. I've always loved how slow and drawn-out it sounds here. Fucking heavy as all hell!! 🤘🤘
I was in attendance at one of these shows in Seattle. They played two nights in a row and put the best parts from both shows into one concert video. I saw cameras rolling on the night I was there. And had a friend that attended the next nights show and he saw the cameras rolling that night too. As so many years have gone by it seems surreal to watch this. The Cult opened the show. I liked their music on album. But they were terrible live. When you see the mosh pit in this video it was deadly. A friend I ran into at the show said he just came out of the pit. And guys were in there waving their arms around while they were moshing with razor blade in their hands. Hurting ppl. This show was just massive in scale and so loud my ears rang for a few days after.
Imagine to be in that concert, when you just had the opportunity to listen to Metallica in a record (in your house) or in radio stations. No cellphones, nobody cares to take a photograph, just living the energy and the sound of the moment.
Fun fact: There's more time between the Hardwired release and the first M72 concert than there was between the release of Ride the Lightning and this concert. For Whom the Bell Tolls was three albums before this but was newer at the time than the Hardwired songs that will be played on the current tour. Time between July 27, 1984 (Ride the Lightning) and August 29, 1989 (first of the two dates filmed for this concert video release): 5 years, 1 month, and three days Time between November 18, 2016 (Hardwired release) and April 27, 2023 (first M72 tour date): 6 years, 5 months, and 10 days
cool facts, now if only M72 was as legendary as Justice! Couldn't find any songs I like off it yet except for the intro to that one song with the cool bass riff
Playing kinda fast and lose with the word "fun" there but there u go.....would have said "useless irrelevant and mind numbingly boring" fact....but that's me 😅
Used to watch the original vhs all the time as a kid. Was a huge inspiration to me as a guitarist. This video is simply amazing. I have a download of the original, and looking at that compared to this is insane. 10/10 man. This is wicked good
Thank you so much for doing this. I bought this box set on VHS back when it first came out, and you have brought it to life like I never could have imagined.
I dunno how you did this, but thank you so much! I first bought this when it came out on VHS, and have since owned it on DVD and latest on iTunes. This is the best quality Ive ever seen this show since seeing them on this tour in Charleston WV. Again, thank you so much for uploading this. I'm beside myself about how amazing this looks.
Thanks so much for uploading that beautiful 4K. Watched the VHS maybe a hundert times those days. While watching this now makes me cry a couple of times. A historic moment of the legends! James was like god for me. And they're still touring and kicking ass. What a video, what a band....holy shit!!
I wanted to purchase this for better quality but was disappointed to find out it only comes in VHS. Then I see you uploaded it in 4k. Thanks man! Great background on my TV.
First time i saw this, i was 15 and i got crazy. Now i'm still getting crazy when i watch this. After the Live in Moscow 1991, this one should be one of the concerts of Metallica

Would you subscribe to something like a Patreon account for this kind of stuff. I could also accept special request that way. Please let me know in the comments!
You did a great job. How can I help?
Do a patreon!
Definitely as long as you keep these LEGENDARY and COMPLETE recordings alive and available for as long as you can before fricken YTB monetization assholes jump on it and disable it!!!
Thx for posting this amazing live shit from Metallica btw, its one of the best metal concerts ever!
I would
I was curious what sort of work goes into taking the original footage and making it into 4k. How do you do it?
There's not a band on this planet who goes out harder than Metallica, a fucking machine from start to finish to this very day.
you mean BIGGER than Metallica? I'm sure there will never be another metal band that surpasses Metallica
In my opinion, Megadeth and Slayer
@@AriaBraham-ee8qh
Are sure Metallica are, STILL, a "metal" band?
@@natetsutsumi7363 my statement is bigger than Metallica not harder or still metal band.
Sorry I ruined your 69 likes
No comment here. Just admiration.
Cheers man 🥂
Im 28. If their was ever a chance to travel back in time it would be to this show
The transition from the ending of to live is to die into master of puppets is so fuckn heavy it’s disgusting. To live is to die was played so incredibly in sync and they looked badass just looking somber up there before invading the crowd with a monstrous classic like master of puppets
Our destiny is to die but in the meantime we love
This is when the band still had the underground vibe...before the fame of the Black album would engulf them. I still love them today and have seen them in concert 7 times. However, there is something so raw and powerful about this performance...just awesome.
Stellar work. This is fucking insanely good, feels less like something you are watching and more immersive like you're there. Greatest concert ever recorded just got THAT much better. Thank you so much for this.
Could not have said it better, this is gold and the only Metallica i need!
i was born in 91. if i could pick any concert to have attended in my entire life, it's this one.
Nice! Can't wait. This is the best live Metallica show ever recorded in my opinion. Thanks for doing this.
This is perhaps the best metal show ever
@@phutureproofMoscow 1991, sovit union
Really the peak of their live performance. I love his voice here. My god it sucks getting old.
Man I'm crying. Thank you for this such a masterpiece. MetallicA for life!
Yeah man this video is fuckin beautiful
Crying? Have to be a american ?😅
I don't give a shit what others say, but Ulrich is a great drummer!
You can understand his drumming from miles away, and it's really something to create a legacy like he has!
His playing in AJFA is pure gold!!!
what i really like about this video is how the band seems to be sharing the crowd's excitement and the energy is just amazing all around.
I travelled to may cities too watch Metallica play between 1989-91 and every concert was Ike this. They were meant to play live.
This concert is pretty much metal at its peak.
The energy level in this show was insane!
The golden age of Metallica.
I've watched this an unhealthy amount of times
Same. My gf thinks i’m gay
Metallica is still unmatched in live performances
This is for real taylor swift and travis scott aint got shit
You mean, "WERE," right,?
@@natetsutsumi7363 no
strongly disagree, now it is a job for them to maintain and they are fathers and all steps on stage seem to be scripted. I've attended megadeth, slayer and metallica concerts 12 years ago and metallica was a dissapointment. Yngwie Malmsteen was top notch in 2012, I was very surprised by the energy of this gentleman.
You've never seen Gojira or Meshuggah then
Damn 1:05:12 dude threw girl from his shoulder to another guy's shoulder
Bro she landed perfectly 😭😭
Dudeee
If I have to go to 1 show for the rest of my life I’m going to this one 100%
most energetic concert ever
Yes!!! And that’s why it’s the best. They were oozing with energy from the passion and the crowd… so many bands lack this
My family moved to Australia from Ireland in 2008 and this was the soundtrack for me and my brother. I’m a drummer he’s a guitarist but this is the best Metallica concert of all time. We both played for our music exam Metallica and did well
1:13:10 is probably one of the craziest & amazing chants ever
“Your mama” 😂
“Your moms on sale”
It's amazing how if you drop down from D standard to D tuning, "The Thing That Should Not Be," sounds "scarier" than the album version, here! I believe (to this day). Metallica still plays it in this key, potrayed in this concert! It's definitely a kickass song that grabs you and won't let go!
Do you mean from D standard to drop D?
@@FTW_666 They've never played this song in drop d, I believe they meant C# as that's the tuning they use live
"d standard" and "d tuning" mean the same exact thing, and i think the song sound best in d tuning, despite this being the best version
No bands now play even close to two hours live … so awesome
Wedding bands do :P
Ghost ua-cam.com/video/wnsrsBZ39Cc/v-deo.html
And Metallica is a HUGE fan. Especially James.
and for about 4 years straight they did like shows for about 3 fuckin hours non stop with no supporting bands. People may give them flack now but they had more energy than anyone else at the time
Rammstein....
thats so untrue blud. unless you talking festivals but thats the thing for non headliners
I've been listening to the Thing studio version and thought, why not put on the Seattle version. Fucking banger
Much clearer video than the old ones. Thank u so much
I was in attendance at one of these shows in Seattle.
Damn! That moshpit thing was far from hardcore. And I wonderded why was that pit so small...
Time between July 27, 1984 (Ride the Lightning) and August 29, 1989 (first of the two dates filmed for this concert video release): 5 years, 1 month, and three days
Time between November 18, 2016 (Hardwired release) and April 27, 2023 (first M72 tour date): 6 years, 5 months, and 10 days
cool facts, now if only M72 was as legendary as Justice! Couldn't find any songs I like off it yet except for the intro to that one song with the cool bass riff
There's something about legendary bands and time, it's like they compress it
Playing kinda fast and lose with the word "fun" there but there u go.....would have said "useless irrelevant and mind numbingly boring" fact....but that's me 😅
55:43 i cant be the only one who loves jasons bass part here its sound so haunting and beautiful at the same time
55:51 🙉🙉 the aura is fuckin toppp
This is Metallica at its peak for sure. Blackened with actual bass is so freaking heavy. And Lars, he was one hell of a drummer during this era.
If I could go back in time, I would be in this concert without question!!!! Best ever metal concert hands down!!! 🤘🤘
Opening with Blackened right after Ecstasy of Gold has to be the greatest way to crack a concert wide open.
Love the random Jimi Hendrix that Kirk plays before Battery XD
It took me a second to realize it was Little Wing
Saw this tour on june 10th 89 at the met center in Minnesota at age 12. Was absolutely awesome!
Used to watch the original vhs all the time as a kid. Was a huge inspiration to me as a guitarist. This video is simply amazing. I have a download of the original, and looking at that compared to this is insane. 10/10 man. This is wicked good
I'm from New England now way out west for a long time now. I appreciate the 'Wicked' comment you made 5 months ago
It was wicked pissa, kid!
Thank you so much for doing this. I bought this box set on VHS back when it first came out, and you have brought it to life like I never could have imagined.
1:52:22 jasons headbanging in the 80s was INHUMANE
89 Seattle is IMO the pinnacle of Metallica performances. Thanks for enhancing this video!
This is by far the best metal concert in Human History. Simply epic
47:34 absolutely noone talking about this sick transition from the to live is to die jam to master of puppets
PQP!
great show, great intro... all those youngsters about to witness, at that time, the greatest band ever! life was so much enjoyable in the 80's...
The voice of young James is one of the best ever in music history. Absolutely monster.
i'm so happy that the best metallica era passed with jason! thanks for the video mate
Hands down the best performance of "The Thing that Should not be" they've ever done!
To live is to die deserves more attention. The harmony always makes me cry. R.I.P Cliff Burton.
Thanks so much for uploading that beautiful 4K. Watched the VHS maybe a hundert times those days. While watching this now makes me cry a couple of times. A historic moment of the legends! James was like god for me. And they're still touring and kicking ass. What a video, what a band....holy shit!!
38:06 wow man the way that he said the thing that should not be so heavy
Man - this takes me back. I remember watching this and instantly knowing that I belonged on the stage!!
I watched this so much on VHS back in the day I wore it out..haha. Best Metallica concert. This is awesome. Excellent job!
If anyone has seen a better Metallica concert than this, they are blind.
BEST Metallica concert.
The Thing That Should Not Be is so underrated- the intro
sounds so awesome here
Little did those people in the crowd know that was their best show
Every once and awhile i watch this again just to remember why i keep living, because one day i want to play my music infront of the world
I wanted to purchase this for better quality but was disappointed to find out it only comes in VHS. Then I see you uploaded it in 4k. Thanks man! Great background on my TV.
First time i saw this, i was 15 and i got crazy. Now i'm still getting crazy when i watch this. After the Live in Moscow 1991, this one should be one of the concerts of Metallica
Primero de todo mil gracias por haber subido este directo insuperable mejorado gracias por el esfuerzo realizado gente como tú es la que vale 100 por 100 brutal companyero
50:50 the best harmony
Best of Metallica Ever! This is Metallica and nothing else comes even close!
Yes they only had one good album after this... and then....I dunno what happened after that...Lars lost half his drums, James cut off his hair, and Kirk started wearing make up...and well no more Jason...
