I have the Bogner Ecstacy Red , Blue and 5150. I can make them all sound almost Identical. Funny thing.
The mid scooped distortion pedals may sound good when playing alone but will tend to get lost in a band mix. That's why RATs and Tube Screamers do well. They don't really sound good alone. The Pinnacle does better than the other 2 pedals, IMHO, since it has the better mid push, like a vintage Marshall.

Out of these 3 would probably pick Brian's pedal for the range it has.
But don't really think any would replace what I already have, and the next OD pedal I'll probably get is going to be the Bondi 'Sick As (Mk II)'
This is not a good comparison. You will always have to adjust the settings, as well on the pedal as the amp, to get the best sound out of it. That the Pinnacle has more mids on the 12 O clock settings is just how the eq was designed. If you like that, tweak your amp and the settings on the BE and you will have the same mids plus the more singing highs and overtones. Just listen to the Pete Thorn Friedman BE review vid, and then you will know how unbeleivable ( prety much best sounding for high gain) that pedal can sound with the right settings.
Would love to hear a good comparison between the Dracarys and the BE though.
I have the 5150....it has a lot of harmonic content almost to the point of being congested....the Pinnacle sounded more defined to some degree....hmm
I'm curious as to why you have the nobs just at 12:00. Wouldn't it be better to dial in each pedal so they sound their best? All the pedals in this review sound muddy. I know they all can sound better. I've heard other video where they did. Also, I'd like to hear how all of these sound when you roll off the volume. I've played with the Pinnacle and the Friedman and I think the Pinnacle sounds more amp like when you roll off the volume. The Friedman doesn't roll off well. It's gain sounds like a really BE amp (which I've played) but doesn't roll off like the amp does. That's an important feature for me.
I like the idea of a combined boost and distorsion pedal, like the Pinnacle. But I'm holding out to see what the reviews of the Strymon Riverside says. Having a favorite button on the distorsion pedal, with your lead sound configured, just sounds like a great idea!
It's the Friedman for me love it.
Got a 2nd hand Pinnacle last week and it's awesome. The tonal variety it can produce will blow your mind.
Same here, got it a few days ago, $109. I like that Wampler just shoves so many options into any given pedal.

I must have crap ears because i like the EVH more than the wampler or friedman but they all sound good
Robert Brooks it's all subjective dude. If the EVH sound a best to you then that's it. There's no right or wrong.
My choice would be the pinnacle for sure, Friedman sounds a lot of a duller tone
I like the friedman sound, but it really doesnt seem to have enough mids. I just cant cut through in the band :/. Sadly. Maybe trying a wampler next.
I'm curious how you would rate the Wampler Dracarys Distortion.
I can't decide between the Friedman and the Wampler. The Friedman has the best overall rhythm sound, but the Wampler has great lead sound and the has a boost... More practical
I really liked this review. I don't understand though how the Pinncale can be not as easy to play as the BE-OD when just before you said it has a lot more sustain.

The Pinnacle did sound better than the 5150, but for my tastes and how you demo'd it, the Friedman was better than either. I suspect that the guitar and amp both play a large part in getting a preferred sound for all of the pedals.
Thoughts on the mad professor 1 in this fight for just that Van Halen sound?

Friedman gain should not be above 9 o'clock
What cab/speakers were you using?
Dude you don't have the wampler set up right you have the switches all wrong iam surprised you don't know that or you just want to make it look bad
To me, the Friedman just sounds savage but for some reason I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger.
Dumb question, but can the 5150 get that pushed mid - British sound at all? I know Eddie started on Marshalls, so it seems like his design would have kept some of that in its back pocket.
I've been kicking around the idea of picking up an LBX or the MXR pedal to run through my boogie, but I just can decide...
The Friedman would be better if it was backed off a tad. The other thing is a total loss. It is to over the top.
