The best self defense is the 100 meter dash in almost every situation. However if you CANT run, then I would rather train than not train. I think that’s as complicated as that conversation has to be.

The transition from the manscaped spot had me thinking you were gonna say the white belt asked about your balls

Hey guys, love the podcast! Binging it has made the last few days delivering for Amazon that much better. Since you guys seemed curious during your discussion of Judo vs BJJ vs Wrestling, I thought I'd let you know as a long-time wrestler that many modern takedowns and takedown set-ups are taken and modified from Judo

Thanks man! 100% just in general most grappling comes from Judo.

I think it would be really interesting to have some podcasts with a person of each belt color on the same podcast to get a perspective on these things from every belt!

44:50 Mike you nailed it explaining what is meant by "gentle art". Thank you. Alan Watts has good lectures explaining the meaning of judo and Jiu-jitsu as the gentle way.

Love the channel but please create a shorts/snippet channel. It sucks when I’m looking for the full podcast and I accidentally select the short thinking it was the full podcast.

I feel that weight training is necessary to prevent injury.

Good podcast as always, but the double guard pull rule is at the end of a 20 seconds decount if an athlete came up on top, he will receive an advantage (and not 2 points as you said). If not of athletes is in a way to gain a scoring position the ref will stop the match and give a penalty for both athlete

I think you guys are missing a lot when it come to the discussion about takedowns. Finishing a single leg is not "easy to figure out" when you are brand new to takedowns. And whichever way you do figure out is not going to be effective against someone who has an actual single leg defense. Takedowns take as much training to hit consistently on good guys as ground techniques.

I agree with what you're saying. I think what we mean to say is the entry is the hardest part of the process to master. Although not easy for beginners to learn to finish them, they can definitely get proficient enough pretty quickly. The body lock is the best example. Give someone the position and they will figure out quickly how to get their opponent to the ground. Ask them to take a body lock, and it's a different story.

The blue 🔵 belt topic is interesting.
I herd Faras zhab quote Heilo Gracie saying that a blue belt is someone who can beat a bigger stronger untrained person. If it was true that Heilo said that, Heilo bjj was self defense and not many school like mine teach us the Gracie way of bjj. Wyt Jordan , Mike and Joey ?
