Classic Game Room reviews PAC-MAN for Nintendo Famicom! CGR review of Pac-Man for Nintendo Famicom shows PacMan on Famicom which is basically the same game as Pac-Man on NES. NES Pac-Man is an awesome 8-bit version of the Namco arcade classic Pac-Man. CGR Pac-Man review has Pac-Man Famicom review gameplay in this Nintendo Famicom Nintendo NES Pac-Man UA-cam review.
Nice. I love pac man and have that same Pac-Man stress ball.
I grew up with the NES TENGEN release of PacMan! It was a great ver of PacMan and still is!
The ghosts should run away when you're sitting near the power pellet. It's like they're playing "dare" with you.
I love classic game room
I actually played Ms. Pac-Man before I played Pac-Man. It was on Namco Museum Volume 3 for PlayStation.
Namco Museum on the gamecube was my go to version as a kid
My favorite Pac Man is Ms. Pac Man on the 7800, but maybe that’s because I grew up with it.
Does this version have the kill screen at level 256?
Tom L That's what I've always wondered too.
This is the same game that it was also released on the NES around 1987 or 1988, and it was by Tengen. They also made an official version in a regular NES cartridge, and the unlicensed version in a black cartridge as well. I guess Tengen did put the unlicensed NES games after three games were released on the NES in a standard cartridge like "RBI Baseball", "Gauntlet" and "Pac-Man". The rest of the Tengen games except the three are unlicensed, along with a rare game called "Tetris" which was a great puzzle game, but it didn't last long until Nintendo released an official version of "Tetris". This is basically the same game on the Famicom before the Tengen version was released on the NES.
it's like you've come down with PAC MAN FEVER
needs more views
Hey Mark, did you ever do the Dreamcast VMU Pac-Man review?I didn't see it and i think it would've been awesome for your PM Month. I know its been a few months now, but it would be a nice add on to this collection of reviews. That VMU PM is a crazy version of it, but fun in its own way.
Nice Aliens reference.
Has Mark ever looked at Pac-Man 256?
So October had the release of many awesome games and Mark has not review any of them. Sounds about right. Probably waiting for Kelvin to send him the games lol
or anyone from NEW JERSEYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
*classic* game room
"The japanese ghosts are more polite" LMAO!
Oh hey! It's the version of Pacman I'm familiar with...
Did...Pacman really have a nose that big?
lvl5Vaporeon, I'm more focused on what kind of Famicom Mark used to play that game.
Yes, he did.
1999. Pac-Man World. You had to rescue Ms Pac-Man from the evil Toc-Man
Same version as the arcade except it's much slower.
EDIT, but i do wonder why sky skipper, sheriff and radar scope were never ported to the nes because they should belong to that console as well, also since those games are from nintendo itself.
Oh sh*t! Here comes PAC man!
As a preteen I devised a pattern that would allow me to fill the side panel with keys (fruit)
wheres Pac-Man Fever for the Gamecube? :D
I want to know more about Sean Zoltek.
I have to disagree with you on this one. In Pacman World on PS1, you actually save Ms. Pacman :D
0:22 MORE LIKE NAMCOCK!
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!
The Famicom cart isn't quite as cheap as you'd think it would be. But the Game Boy version is very cheap (at least loose. It is of course much pricier complete.)
Namcot. Must be a bootleg version of Namco or a Japanese name for Namco.
Japanese name.
Agree. I have several Namco games for Famicom, and they all have the name spelled as "Namcot". ...Which is funny, since Japanese words and names (and syllables) only end with a vocal or 'n'. And with Japanese writing it's not even possible to write words or names (or syllables) that would end with anything else. So there's no direct equivalent to the name, that could be written with kana or kanji -- the name can only be written with latin letters, or approximated as 'namukoto' or 'nankoto', or something like that. The name of the company really is Namco (or in Japanese, ナムコ, 'namuko'), but in some contexts they have used the name Namcot. And actually there are several other Japanese brands that can't be directly written the same way with Japanese writing. My guess is that such names are attempts to appear exotic or international or something.
Really I was just questioning why Namcot was the chosen name for Namco in JP (Japan).
Namco's name for their home video games division, that's all.
I like the arcade version better!!
According to John Riggs, this port is a bit different from the one we got on NES.
Also, was it only the original arcade game that was called "Puck-Man"? Seeing this with the English name on it is a bit jarring.
No it was Pakku(パック)-man. Pakku-Pakku is an Japanese onamonapia for eating aggressively. ie like the English "om nom nom". Some have mistranslated it as "puck."
Really, I thought the NES version was the same as the Famicom version other than changed copyright text (for all three release variations). Can't imagine why else they'd need to change it.
It was Ms. Pac-Man that was very different between the Tengen and Namco versions (why Namco produced such as a basic port years after the Tengen version, I'm not sure).
Way back in ancient times, when Puck-Man was just first being imported into America, the name _almost_ stuck. Then, a translator pointed out one glaring issue, having to do with the nature of mischievous children, whom would do anything they could to rub out one single line...and the rest is history.
Yes, Tengen's Pac-Man is basically Namco's Pac-Man from the Famicom.
So are the Japanese Pac Man ghosts more polite than the Canadian Pac Man ghosts? Or do the Canadian Pac Man ghosts just seem more polite because they say, "Soory." every time they eat Pac Man?
ugh that "famiclone" has a messed up palette. Isn't that thing super expensive? why's it look so wrong?
He’s already reviewed the Nes version which is the same system it's like reviewing the same game on the Mega Drive and Genesis the're the same console just have different names depending on the region.
I'm going yo play a different version of Pac-man everyday now
All hail lord Pac!
Now I can test my good old trolling trick.
I hate Truxton.
Hope this works.
But November is Zelda Month... ;-;
Oh review Jr PAC man for the 2600
Love the Aliens reference! That has stuck with me till this day too
Tfw when you are stuck behind a Japanese ghost in traffic but honking would bring grave dishonor to your family.
Hey, Mark. Got any plans on reviewing the Switch port of Pac-Man? Fantastic on-the-go version with the capacity to perform the game in it's true, intended display mode...vertical. No more hunting down a real arcade when away from the home TV when the need to pac on some ghost monsters comes knocking.
Ms. Pac Man - The original independent female heroine.
Arigatou gozaimashita.
Hey you should review sonic mania :P
Thumbs up for that bomb-ass Aliens references. RIP the Paxman.
The real reson you never have to rescue Ms. Pac-Man from anything is because she's ALL PAC-WOMAN. As in strong, independent, and she don't need no Pac-Man up in her bidniz. Also, my god... what a hottie. Curves all over!
If anybody is wondering, the music at the start of this video is from Sonic.. WHAT!!?!?!!
Great😃
Not a bad version of Pac-Man, but the sound and music sound terrible. I recommend playing Pac-Man in the arcades, compilation games such as the Namco Museum series and so on.
Absolutely. That being said, experiencing all of these cool (and not so cool) home ports is part of the charm!
As an example, I really like this version (despite the "bad" sound). There are other home ports that are pretty good too, like the 5200 version.
@@PyramidgodMeekman6 I recommend the Classic NES Series version of NES Pac-Man for the GBA because the GBA version of NES Pac-Man saves your high scores. Pac-Man Collection, Namco Museum, Namco Museum: 50th Anniversary and the Game Boy and Game Boy Color-related Pac-Man games will not save your progress. Plus, the original NES version of Pac-Man will not save your high scores, which sucks.
Ms Pac Man... because real women have curves.
Why... Why if you have a physical copy you're showing captured footage, but not recorded on camera from tv 🫤
