Hello! Could you help me please, what glue are you using for this technique? Thank you!
Hi there this is what I am using and I recommend it: amzn.to/2YxJIlx
@@Theleathercraftacademy wht about the opening side after the stiching.. usually its glued together for a more tidy look.. r u gonna do tht to ur handle??
@@wanpengsia857 Yes, I've seen leather craftsmen usually put leather edging glue after (and then some even add layers of dye as well after and then sandpaper it).
Thanks teacher.
Very useful to beginners
Thank you, you are a great teacher
Thanks and God bless.
Merci beaucoup pour cette vidéo !!j’adore
Terima Kasih! That's a thank you from Indonesiè
Excellent.
Thank you
Thanks for your video it is so good.
That is a great tutorial..thank you so much👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍👍🤗😍❤🤝🙌
Perfecto .Gracias. bendiciones
Ty!!! That was very specific and to the point.
Unless you are using a reverse iron on the opposite side, you stitching holes will be the opposite angle from one side to the other.
Thus creating an X for each hole.
Cant you flip the irons so they line up? I dont know just asking
Awesome job
thanks for sharing. I really loved this and needed it to finish my first bag handles! thank you very much!
Glad this helped! Good luck with finishing your bag!

Superb
Such a good video
Thanks
Thank you for your help
I really enjoyed watching your video. I was wondering why is it so important not to prick holes all the way through?
Totally AMAZING! Thanks!
thank you.
Good
I don’t understand,
Why do you punch holes in the two sides separately?
Saludos. Gracias por la explicación.
Its wow
How can you stand inhaling that glue? I have used this glue before but it is very strong smelling. It’s very good glue though. It does the job. I usually wear a mask and have my window open. By the way, nice video instructions❤️
Thanks, I am using it for two decades. Sure it needs to be used in a well ventilated space. There are some water based glue out there but I still prefer solvent base and all pun aside I am sticking to it.
You are an incredible teacher. Fantastic video. This is one of the best how to videos on UA-cam.
good vid buddy
Some excellent new ideas there, thank you. Expecially about where to skive ' 👍
What thickness of rope are you using, and also, what are the dimensions of the leather pattern?
Muito obrigada 🙏
Where did you get that beautiful skiving knife?!?
Please recommend where to purchase the tools you are using. Thanks 😊
You can check in the description of the video
Love this tutorial! Thabk you so much for sharing!!! I make purses and am having a hard time findind handle, but you make it looks so east, i will make all my own handles now!!
GOOD job! I wonder where can I find those tools.
Elaine Silva thank you you can check in the description of my videos, I have also made a video about tools
Don't forget to edge-burnish the raw edges when finished. It does depend on the leather to some extent, however usually you're leaving the softer suede inner exposed, and that needs to be reinforced. Edge-burnishing uses heat to melt some form of shellac or similar gum/polish into that softer material, reinforcing it, sealing it and polishing it to a similar gloss as the surface of the leather. Be careful not to get it onto the surface itself.
Thanks.
I intend to get into Leather, someday.
Very precise explanation! Thank you. Pls where can can I get the leather edge coating liquid?
fenice or giardini
How to add fabric to chain purse handle so it does not hurt shoulder?
What r the measurements for the handle?
I am going to create the pattern piece myself and I'd like to know your measurements for reference
Please check the link in the description you can download the pattern
Thank you~ You easy explanation was very helpful to me
genial! super bien explicado, gracias po compartir❤
Wow, this video is so mesmerizing to me. Thank you, I LOVE it!
Puching holes on each side seems like you are making double the work for yourself. What was the advantage of that over striking once and going through the leather?
It has the advantage of having a nice perfect slanted such on both sides.
@@Theleathercraftacademy And that is what distinguishes a master from a novice :)
Thank you for this video - where can i find the material you used for the edges?
Thank you very much 👏👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Please what's the name of the fork-like tool
it's called a pricking iron
How do you smooth the edges to make it soft and shine?
I often wondered how the stitching on handle is performed. Nicely done. Nylon Rope instead of cotton upholstery piping rope. Great demo video.
Hi! What kind of glue have you used for making this?
Hi! This video is really good!
What's the distance among the tines of the fork, you are using to make the holes in the leather: 3mm, 4mm or 5mm?
about 3mm
the glue brand or type you r using please ?
What glue do you use in your work?
What is the width of the rope you are using please?
I think the diameter was 10mm
It looks really nice. Great job, I think it looks beautiful and strong. Thank you!
The Pink Panther of handle making!! Great tutorial!
Are you left handed? If so where can I find that exact tool you use to skive the leather? I think that would solve some of my problems. Great video, thanks for the upload.
Yes sure, the blade angle needs to be reversed if you are left handed. Look for left handed skiving knives on Google, Blanchard is doing this. Or use a straight blade.
Between playing instruments and tools being left handed has been a pain. Thanks for the quick reply.
I confirm, maybe a bit easier for me because I do a lot of things with the right hand but can only use my left hand for writing, skiving and cutting. Weird.
What type of glue do you use?
Contact cement or contact adhesive, look at brands like Barge or 3M
When you bent the handle I see some creases form on the inner side of the handle. Is this normal? But they don't always exist. I see some bags with creeses on inner side of the handles and some without. What it depends on leather or something else?
good job pleas name of edg rounded cuter blade
Thank you for the great tutorial! Where did you get your skiving knife?
It is a piece of very hard steel taken from an industrial blade designed to cut steel
How made you skiving knife?
I used an industrial steel saw
Why you don't want the hole completely through?
What Lakoza stitching iron is that?
Hi, I made a video about this
ua-cam.com/video/QUFQfovK3RU/v-deo.html
Do you make them and sell them?
No I do not sell the handles
what kind of rope?
What kind of glue are using? Thank-you.
Contact adhesive
I wish I can do that 😫I crochet handbags and use leather handles and I pay 💰 a lot for them.
Nothing beats a try

I'm curious to k ow why you didn't punch your stitch holes all the way through and instead decided to punch on both sides and then use an awl, too?
