I feel like....I understand people's reservations about this drama. An ahjumma I know said she hadn't watched it cause her friends all hated how it makes N.Korea seem good. To me, that wasn't why I thought the drama was good. I thought they did well in keeping you captivated in the story until the end without it getting boring. They helped develop the characters well so you actually like not just the main characters but the side characters as well and also, we still know that N.Korea is a crappy place to live and the dictators basically sucks A. No one is going to go to N.Korea in search of a husband....that's so ridiculous. Obviously, it was dramatized and exaggerated. BUT one thing I like about this drama is that it shows that there are regular people there who were just born in unfortunate circumstances. They are not all villains. A while ago I saw stories of N.Korean defectors being mistreated and discriminated against. I feel like this helps break boundaries a little bit. I agree with you. I can understand why Koreans may dislike the drama because it's "romanticizing N.Korea", but if anything I too think that it humanizes a lot of regular North Korean citizens. We (as Koreans) were all once people of the same country. However, many of these people unfortunately ended up growing up with a starkly contrasting regime. They shouldn't be discriminated against just because they got unlucky.
I feel you, but this applies to a lot of countries. When I went to China, I just simply fell in love with it. The people are AMAZING. Yet their government is fucking shit and does many things that are beyond horrible. Should we judge the inhabitants of countries with these kind of shitty governments? No, at the end of the day they’re just normal people, trying to live a normal life and make the most of it, just like the rest of us. You can’t blame the ordinary people for the actions of their government. I hope people start realising that someday. Also I believe that every government is doing at least something wrong, but some governments are worse than others of course. No country is 100% good

thank you so much for this video daveee~~ i was looking hard for some north korean reaction video or something similar to this as i was really curious about the reality behind the drama
I love this drama but the ending was just too predictable, though I was hoping Gu Seung Jun to be alive and was faking his death the whole time since it's a drama and I wanted Dan to have someone as she was on unrequited love for a long time and finally found someone who reciprocated her feelings and baaam died? Either way I love how they portrayed her character as strong independent woman who doesn't need a man to be happy. And Pyo Chi Su? Just pure amazing. I do agree with Nara regarding the escape being too easy because I was thinking that the whole time and they were just idk calm, collected (?) and when Jeong Hyuk passed the 38th parallel (yet again) they just stood there and just pointed the gun, nothing else? Idk much on how SK and NK deal with such things but I'm pretty sure it's way more violent than that, I'm just really into such accuracy but then again it's a drama as I said so.
Last year, there was a case of a soldier manning the 38th parallel who dramatically defected to the South by just running and crossing to the other side. I saw a Chinese-American vlogger as well, who toured NK and was allowed to shoot at the DMZ with his North Korean guide of course. She could have just taken a few more steps and reached South Korea already. But walking peacefully and kissing must have been dangerous. There were more technically unrealistic scenes there such as that one when Seri tried to cross using her paraglider but Capt. Ri caught up with him and they both jumped before Cheol Gang caught them. That free fall was too unreal. But of course, it's a drama.
The Director and writer of the drama said that the drama CLOY intentionally did not focus on how real the NK situation is as compared with SK. The core of the drama was to highlight relationships and the development of the love story between the north and the south. As said, it's expected that a lot of the scenes aren't close to reality because the drama is a romantic genre with humor because they wanted to make it different from the usual.
@@thar22 one of them should give up their citizenship and defect to that country. That means one of them should give up their lives in their home country. Showing something similar in the ending would put huge issues to the drama

Korea like a regular stroll. XD I actually already noticed those little details while watching it and I actually kinda felt awkward abt it. But overall, I love the drama! Ha, I see this episode coming. I watch this drama for the North Korean stuff but end up fanboying lol
"If there were guys like that, why would I come here?"

yesss was waiting for something like this!!!
To be honest, it is difficult to find guys like him anywhere. He is GGW after all. HAHA

The ending is actually realistic and was made to respect the countries.
Is it possible for the N & S in real life to be together for the rest of their lives? I mean marrying each other.
@@thar22 one of them should give up their citizenship and defect to that country. That means one of them should give up their lives in their home country.
Showing something similar in the ending would put huge issues to the drama
I got so confused when reading the subtitles that I had to pause and play then watched it all over again. 😂
I've been so dying to know if the references of the drama where 100% and now I am soooooo freaking glad Dave made this video

For some reason, I'm actually glad to hear Kang Nara say those little loopholes in the drama like Se-ri wearing high end clothes in N. Korea and how easy it was to flee to S. Korea like a regular stroll. XD I actually already noticed those little details while watching it and I actually kinda felt awkward abt it.
But overall, I love the drama! Hyun Bin and Ye-Jin's chemistry was undeniable! I love the OST as well. Overall it was beautiful although there were some loopholes. :)
3:55 you're showing the wrong actor here :D
정말 죄송합니다ㅠㅠ sorry for my bad Korean!

Wow I've really been wondering about this a lot. I've heard so much about the drama and am dying to watch it, but I didn't want to watch a drama if it was going to be incredibly inaccurate about North Korea >.< Thanks for the video, I might watch it soon!! :D
We still need Dave to make a video with Nara to dispel all the myth about US in North Korea and vice versa.

As an American who's given up on American TV & movies I'm hooked on Kdramas and this one certainly ranks with the best. My one criticism is that they can leave the sub titles up a few seconds longer especially when the dialogue is followed by several seconds of people staring at each other.
I MISS JAEIN SO MUCH!
