Me being a person who barely knows a thing about chemistry, this whole process just seems so magical. Almost every segment leaves me with so many questions. Such as 'What is achieved(or how 'rust-crust molecueles' are 'changed') by electrocuting rusty anvil underwater?' , 'what's that powder/oily stuff he puts in, where does it come from, what exactly does it do?' and so on.. I feel like I'm intrigued by these things somehow, in a good way of course.
Thank you!:) The electrolysis reaction. The connection of the anode and cathode destroys the structure of water and 2 gases, hydrogen and oxygen are released. Hydrogen, in turn, purifies the oxides Fe2o3 + H2 = Fe + H2O (iron oxide + hydrogen = iron + water) Previously, onions were fried in new pans to protect them from rust (I learned this from my grandmother, and she from my parents). The main thing is not to overheat the metal, otherwise a burnout will form on the surface. And so this coating has good adhesion to the metal, it is not even brushed off with a metal brush (minor risks remain). The oxidation reaction occurs due to the acids contained in the onion.

That's the most badass anvil this world has ever seen
You aint lying. Shit i would love to read the instructions on just half of what we just seen!
Hydrogen, in turn, purifies the oxides Fe2o3 + H2 = Fe + H2O (iron oxide + hydrogen = iron + water)
Previously, onions were fried in new pans to protect them from rust (I learned this from my grandmother, and she from my parents). The main thing is not to overheat the metal, otherwise a burnout will form on the surface. And so this coating has good adhesion to the metal, it is not even brushed off with a metal brush (minor risks remain). The oxidation reaction occurs due to the acids contained in the onion.
@@Great_idea Wow, electricity can do that?
Well now that I think of it, I kinda remember learning about the reaction, re-arranging ions while I was in highschool..
(shame on me for dozing off during class lol)
And fried onions huh, that's a whole new topic I'd like to dig in for myself..
Wish I could've started learning chemistry like this back in highschool.
Of course circumstances are very different now and back then, nonetheless this video is very interesting/intriguing.
Thank You for this video, and giving me a genuine explanation.
Thank you for your attention!:)
