@@royalistefrancais Sorry, I'm just appreciating the irony of this. I think this is the first time I've ever been accused of downplaying Dooku in my life. Normally the roles are reversed here, so I'm kind of happy the Count has a fanbase as devoted as this. That said, Dooku wasn't the best, he was certainly the best practitioner of Makassi, but it's stated by Yoda and Dooku both that during the Clone Wars that he and Mace were equal in skill with a lightsaber. Dooku thinks of Anakin once he sees his true form as 'the best Djem-So practitioner that he'd ever seen in their final dual. Dooku's experience and his over seven decades of refining his dueling when paired with his strategy of only committing to duels he has the advantage in make him one of the deadliest duelists in the history of the Jedi or Sith Orders, but he does have limits aside from his age. He's not as strong in the Force as Yoda, Sidious or Anakin(Late CW), Vaapad can weaponize his Darkside energy against him in a feedback loop and Dooku is extremely arrogant. While his arrogance doesn't prevent him from retreating when the situation calls for it, it does make him easier to manipulate by Sidious and for him to underestimate his opponents-as he does with Yoda first and then later, fatally with Anakin. Dooku's the fourth most powerful Force user of his era(only outclassed by Anakin/Vader, Yoda and Sidious) and as a pure lightsaber duelist he's tied for first place with Mace Windu in terms of pure technique, Anakin, Sidious and Yoda are close seconds in lightsaber ability, but their overwhelming power in the Force is what allows them to outclass the Count.
Remember that the original version was 4 hours. However the director told George Lucas that nobody would sit through a 4 hour dramatic movie and rather have a more action film.
Not gonna lie, Beskar Grievous would ACTUALLY make him terrifying. This also would explain why Obi-Wan was so uncharacteristically brutal during the deleted scenes later.
There a lot of elements I like in the older version of the fight versus what we got. The blinding of Dooku, the counters to previously devastating moves. It's great stuff. Wish they'd kept it in one way or another. That being said, dropping the Sand People line was a smart move. No need to even imply that Dooku was involved there. I don't like that it would take away from the event as a senseless tragedy, but even if he was responsible, it makes no sense that he'd tip his hand like that, as part of Anakin's motivation for turning was to bring order to an unforgiving & chaotic universe. A universe that can tear his loved ones away from him randomly & without hesitation. If Anakin knew that his mother's death was intentionally orchestrated, suddenly his focus shifts away from control on a cosmic level, and instead, redirects towards the people who have been targeting his loved ones; opening the door to many other questions about that event (such as why Dooku would even want his mother dead before the two had even met) which could blow up in Palpatine's face considerably. If Anakin even suspected that Palpatine arranged for the Sand People to kill his mother in a plot to lure him to the dark side, he'd never side with him, and Palpatine would know this. So yeah, good decision to excise that line. Same goes for Dooku begging for his life.
Imo their duel one-on-one is something that definitely should've stayed. The poetry between the callback to their fight in AOTC and showing off Anakin's strength really having doubled is too good not to have. The line could've easily been redone to Dooku saying something else to piss Anakin off though. Maybe something along the lines of "You may have improved.. But it matters not, you won't save Obi-Wan" or something like that. Similarly, I like that they had Shaak Ti get executed as a way of emphasizing that Obi-Wan's about to be killed himself, but given that her canonical death is by Anakin's hand at the Jedi Temple, I think they should've used another Jedi. Any of them would do. Also Grievous being lightsaber resistant -on top of how badass he was in the 03 Clone Wars- would've made him so fucking cool...
Excellent. I always enjoy these. Making these movies was such an enormous undertaking. Episode III was truly epic, and the story really did seem like it needed room to stretch out a bit. Thanks again, I'll be looking forward to the next one. May the Force be with you.
Yeah I always thought so too. We literally saw the beginning and the end of the clone wars between the two movies. And after Luke asking Obiwan about the clone wars, we didn't really get anything until the animated series launched.
I actually found out about it recently (only like a week ago). If I had known I would have done it, but this grievous vs Shaak ti animation has been in the works for months
I hear about things like this and I see the different deleted scenes from bonus material. It just makes me want a four hour cut of Revenge of the Sith even more.
1:50 that weapon catch is sick! How did they not use that? Christopher Lee is too badass to beg, totally the right move. I like the Lord of the Rings documentary where he tells Peter Jackson that people don’t scream when they are stabbed, and leaves it at that like a gangster.
I think, on the whole, they made the right decision. I would have liked to see a little more Grievous, and I think having him kill Shaak Ti is a good addition. A longer duel between Anakin and Dooku would have been cool as well (the bit about Dooku having Anakin's mother killed is just stupid though, glad they cut that). Most of the rest would have hurt the pacing without adding much to the movie. I like the idea of the Obi Wan vs. magnaguards fight, but I'd rather have the fight with them on Utapau and I think having both is redundant.
I agree. Now, years after the movie came out, I think a 4 hour version that completely disregard pacing would be epic tho. Just as something for the fans to get lost in for a few hours. And yeah that sand people thing is a little weird. Like on one hand, it makes Palpatine feel more evil by having him orchestrate every bad thing to happen to Anakin. But also, it works perfectly fine the way it already was.
@@Chosen_one_501 I agree, I would love it if an official longer cut released at some point, even if it's not per se good, just because it would be interesting. In an ideal world, I wonder what we could have gotten if Lucas hadn't been constrained by time and budget at all. I actually think it hurts Palpatine as a character. People have said before that Palpatine's plan was goofy and contrived and overcomplicated, and I generally disagree, but I think Palpatine orchestrating something like that goes way too far in that direction. It requires an explanation, but no explanation could possibly be satisfying unless it was the main plot of the movie. More importantly, I think it undermines the important idea that the Jedi undermined themselves. Suffering and loss is a part of life, and when the "good guys" tell Anakin "Haven't you tried just not feeling that way?" he naturally drifts away from them. The main things that Palpatine does are to point out that the Jedi don't even follow their own bad advice and are constantly driven by fear of loss and to kill orchestrate the death of Qui Gon, who is the one Jedi who isn't like that.
This would have been a better intro to Grievous to really show what kind if menace he was. And of course a longer, more intense Dooku fight to show both his and Anakin's skill on full display would have been great!
This is kind of crazy hearing about all of these deleted scenes. From what I read and watched from other people is that some of the criticisms of episodes 1 -3 could have been quashed if these scenes were added.
3:23 - props to the B2 who *actually* went out it's way to save a B1 from falling to it's death, considering the B2s are pretty much depicted as "Big Brother Bullies" to their smaller B1 counterparts (like the one from Battle of Geonosis who smacks a B1 aside for getting in it's way, or later on some B2s who guns down B1s in front of them to get a clearer shot at the Clones and Jedi)
It's absolutely insane how high above Episode 1 and 2 ROTS is. I love all Star Wars content (except Episode 1 personally) but I would love to see an extended cut of ROTS
Grievous's body being lightsaber resistant is one of the most badass ideas I've ever heard of. They should've kept that, and they should use that for a future opponent of the Jedi. It reminds me of the Yuuzhan Vong's lightsaber-resistant vonduun crab armor.
There's so many cool parallels to previous movies, I had no idea. It would have been pretty damn cool to see so I'm glad that you are working on an animation for it (or at least parts of it) and made this video to tell more people about it.
Honestly I feel Anakin deserved the honor of fighting grievous at least once something that was honestly about to happen in the movie, a tag team match of Anakin and Obi wan vs Grievous on the bridge of the invisible hand but right before they engage the general remarks “you lose general Kenobi” before shattering the glass and creating a vacuum into space
There are definitely some awesome ideas here, such as Anaking avoiding his hand from being cut off by Dooku, or him fighting Grieveous, but overall, what we got was pretty perfect, so I can't complain. Hayden was on fire doing all that tricky choreography brilliantly. He is the perfect Anakin/Darth Vader.
I'm a hardcore Star Wars fan, prequel fan. Never had I thought about the parallel between Anakin/Dooku and Vader/Luke fights. Sidious sitting on a throne in a battle station, with galactic war unraveling outside the windows. Watching his current apprentice fighting the potential, younger, next apprentice. The older fighter taunting the younger, provoking him to awake anger and more power from usage of the dark side. The younger fighter getting the better off Sidious' current apprentice, cutting his hand(s) along the way. With a big grin on his face, Sidious asks the young one to kill his apprentice. And where Anakin steps closer to the dark side by executing his opponent, Luke throws his saber away, and lets go of his hate. Years later this saga just keeps impressing me
Oh man, wtf, why didn't they keep the short scenes that wouldn't have affected the runtime of the duel? Anakin blocking Dooku's lightning and catching his lightsaber to dodge that move would have been incredible. With that said, there's some garbage I'm glad they scrapped like Dooku begging.
Love the character development of the super battledroids, in aotc one punches a b1 in the head to get it out the way but in the deleted renders a b2 catches a falling B1 and helps him magnetize
Grievous grasping Obi-Wan's lightsaber without taking any damage vs. Anakin cutting off Grievous' hand is one area where the "Early draft" nature of these scenes was evident.
Wow. You got me so hyped for the animation you made and promoted here, just for me to find out you locked it behind a paywall. Looks like I'm never coming back to this channel
Honestly upon thinking about it - ROTS could have still worked just fine had the battle of Coruscant been a full first hour. They could have saved time by removing the battle of Utapau instead having Obi Wan defeat grievous in a scene similar to their duel on the malevolence from the early clone wars episodes. This probably would have made for a more exciting first half of the film.
Love that the cut footage shows dooku putting up a much better fight, in the original he just kinda gets overpowered and loses which never made sense to me cause he'd been steadily toying with anakin up to that point.
The never release a extended cut or more deleted scenes from the episode I or II in this 20 anniversary, I hope with Episode III they make a special edition or something who had those scenes or a complete extended cut
So we eventually got a Snyder cut of the Justice League movie that was 4 hours long. Disney/LUcasfilm should just do the same ... come on give us what we want.
The idea and twist that Grievous's armor is resistant to lightsabers and him grabbing Obi's saber would have been SICK and a lot of that badass grievous we got in the original clone wars series. But how would anakin have been able to cut off his hand then?
The amount of commitment from all the actor is there to see, but back in the day I believe only 90's kid love to see the prequel saga, me and my nephew choreograph lightsaber duels imitate what we saw in the movie .. now no kids immitate any duel from sequel saga 🤣
You should eventually animate palps vs windu and the others and have each Jedi put up at least a little bit of a fight and improve the overall choreography
2:02 Chrostopher lee was a King, saving dooku's allready unworthy end to an embarrassment for the Character. Image maul loosing to sidious, but without that "mercyyy, pleaseee!".
This honestly would have paralleled ROTJ Luke and Vader even more beautifully then what the finalized version was aka there is only two duking it out from beginning to end with war happening around them And just like Luke in ROTJ this would have shown just how far anakin had grown since there battle in EP2 and clone wars and for the fact he didn’t need obi wan at ALL!!! For this showing anakin as a grown jedi knight!!!
Damn. Can someone make a comprehensive video of the entirety (that we know of) of the original 4 hour cut of the movie? Like a super detailed breakdown like an audio book but with any visuals we have
Wow! I knew about some of those deleted parts, but I didn’t realize so many fighting scenes existed. It think it was okay to cut some of those scenes, but Disney should partner with Lucas to re-release Episode III with the extended lightsaber battles. The choreography was insane and it would really display how much Anakin improved during the Clone Wars
Grievous's armour being reistent to lightsabers would have been a pretty neat idea. Considering he's a Jedi Hunter it would have made sense considering he was built to be the ultimate killing machine against them. Wish George had kept the idea in for the finished film.
Obviously there’s some awesome stuff that got cut and I wish some of it was left in but the final film is still the most incredible Star Wars film, (in my opinion)

@@grandadmiralzaarin4962 you don't know anything to Star Wars Count Dooku was the best duelist
I hope that in 2025, there’s a four hour cut of Revenge of the Sith.
That would be epic af
Remember that the original version was 4 hours. However the director told George Lucas that nobody would sit through a 4 hour dramatic movie and rather have a more action film.
@@alexkoronec4326 George Lucas was the director. Fuck are you on about
A Remaster of the game, in some way, would be nice.. With it being the 20th Anniversary.
@@alexkoronec4326 "The Director told George Lucas.." What? George Lucas directed Revenge of the Sith, himself.
I've been watching Nick Gillards videos for quite some time and I love that we are finally getting closer to the hour long ROTS battle!
Wow this is insane. Nice job compiling everything, really looking forward to the animation you're working on
Glad you enjoyed bro 😎
Not gonna lie, Beskar Grievous would ACTUALLY make him terrifying. This also would explain why Obi-Wan was so uncharacteristically brutal during the deleted scenes later.
I doubt it’s beskar, probably something more like phrik

You're the best Star Wars channel on the platform mate.
Die hard fans appreciate the work you do in showing us all the unreleased content. Thanks!
I appreciate the comment 😎
Love these videos, any extra lightsaber content is always a treat. Can we get an animation of the Anakin vs Grievous too?!
I actually found out about it recently (only like a week ago). If I had known I would have done it, but this grievous vs Shaak ti animation has been in the works for months
@@StarWarsAnalyst Maybe down the line we can see that, after the Shaak ti one is done :D
Very well edited video. It's nice to see these interesting things about what could have happened in the first big sequence. Thanks!
The fight choreography of the deleted scenes was superb. They were fighting fast and very fluidly.
I hear about things like this and I see the different deleted scenes from bonus material. It just makes me want a four hour cut of Revenge of the Sith even more.
This is so cool! Wish there was a 3.5 hour ROTS.
1:50 that weapon catch is sick! How did they not use that?
Christopher Lee is too badass to beg, totally the right move. I like the Lord of the Rings documentary where he tells Peter Jackson that people don’t scream when they are stabbed, and leaves it at that like a gangster.
ok but the little "hee hee I gottem" jig Hayden did in that rehearsal footage? Delightful.
Imagine if George made Episode 3 a two parter. Then he would've been able to use all his shot footage.
There's so many cool parallels to previous movies, I had no idea. It would have been pretty damn cool to see so I'm glad that you are working on an animation for it (or at least parts of it) and made this video to tell more people about it.
At his point, we need an hour long video about every possible way of how Shaak Ti was supposed to die....
@@senateurpalpatine No, this time he was overpowered
@@senateurpalpatine No, it has been confirmed multiple times, grwo up

A lot of the deleted scenes were left in the title video game that was released a week before the movie.
Love the character development of the super battledroids, in aotc one punches a b1 in the head to get it out the way but in the deleted renders a b2 catches a falling B1 and helps him magnetize
ROTS could’ve easily been a 3 movie series itself, with plenty of gripping storyline to explore.
Grievous grasping Obi-Wan's lightsaber without taking any damage vs. Anakin cutting off Grievous' hand is one area where the "Early draft" nature of these scenes was evident.
Didn’t know that Anakin and Dooku’s duel was suppose to be that intense
Fantastic work!
Can’t wait to see the part 2👍
Love that the cut footage shows dooku putting up a much better fight, in the original he just kinda gets overpowered and loses which never made sense to me cause he'd been steadily toying with anakin up to that point.
Petition for a 4 hr cut of Rots with scenes like this
I know Lucas typically likes trilogies but ROTS should've been a two-parter so we could've had extras like this
So with them being separated being cut I winter what was in the forty mins of cut material they did film, very interesting, thank you for sharing
Honestly even tho the deleted scenes make this movie 7 hours long id still rather watch the whole thing
Another great video!
They should've released a 4 hour revenge of the Sith extended cut with extended fight scenes like these
It's interesting to learn how things would have gone.
An animated Grievous vs Shaak Ti? I’ll happily subscribe so I don’t miss that!
Grievous holding a lightsaber with his hand is the most badass thing ever
Ideas sure can change a lot, even though the finished version is still fun.
Hope you’ll release the Shaak ti vs grievous animation now please?!🥹
The never release a extended cut or more deleted scenes from the episode I or II in this 20 anniversary, I hope with Episode III they make a special edition or something who had those scenes or a complete extended cut
Those fight scenes are insane! I wish they would use them...
The answer to all the : Anakin vs Grievous what ifs
Hell yeah!!! I want the whole hour!!!
We need a star wars uncut prequels
So we eventually got a Snyder cut of the Justice League movie that was 4 hours long. Disney/LUcasfilm should just do the same ... come on give us what we want.
Anakin really went:🔪😊🕺
A pity these scenes weren't in the movie 😢
I wish they would release an uncut version idc if its 5 hours everyone would watch it.
2:11 while im glad they didnt keep that in [a bit ooc] THAT IS SO ADORABLE
We need this more than the sequels.
The idea and twist that Grievous's armor is resistant to lightsabers and him grabbing Obi's saber would have been SICK and a lot of that badass grievous we got in the original clone wars series. But how would anakin have been able to cut off his hand then?
the space between the joints i assume.
1:48 Talk about taking a risk in battle, but Hayden is amazing for doing all that.
That was a badass move he did when he let go of the lightsaber
3.26 a superbattle droid helping a normal b2, now that something you don't see everyday
The Lucas Cut always! Thanks again
2:02 Chrostopher lee was a King, saving dooku's allready unworthy end to an embarrassment for the Character. Image maul loosing to sidious, but without that "mercyyy, pleaseee!".
I like that some of these deleted scenes were actually playable in the video game.
So thats like 4 different shaak ti deaths now? Lmao
Shaak Ti is the Kenny of the Star Wars universe.
bruh they need to come out with a ROTS extended edition with all this cut content. I want a 4 hour ROTS!!!
Now that would have been a far better Grievous introduction
3:24 The super battledroid saving his bro 🔥
This honestly would have paralleled ROTJ Luke and Vader even more beautifully then what the finalized version was aka there is only two duking it out from beginning to end with war happening around them
And just like Luke in ROTJ this would have shown just how far anakin had grown since there battle in EP2 and clone wars and for the fact he didn’t need obi wan at ALL!!! For this showing anakin as a grown jedi knight!!!
Damn that letting go of the saber move was sick should've left that in for sure
Wow this is insane!!
Awaking letting go of his lightsaber would've been an awesome thing to see. SICK move
God I wish we could just watch the scenes and not have to hear him talk the whole time holy fuck
ROTS should have been a 2 part movie
Damn. Can someone make a comprehensive video of the entirety (that we know of) of the original 4 hour cut of the movie? Like a super detailed breakdown like an audio book but with any visuals we have
We need the ROTS Lucas cut
This is absolutely perfect. Well, other than grievous grabbing obi wan’s lightsaber with his hand and tossing him lol
I’m so excited to see the Shaak Ti vs general grievous fight! When will it be out?
Probably like a week or 2

They shoulda kept all that. Who cares how long it is!!!
I would pay for a 2-part remaster of episode 3
Grievous's armour being reistent to lightsabers would have been a pretty neat idea. Considering he's a Jedi Hunter it would have made sense considering he was built to be the ultimate killing machine against them. Wish George had kept the idea in for the finished film.
Obviously there’s some awesome stuff that got cut and I wish some of it was left in but the final film is still the most incredible Star Wars film, (in my opinion)
So much was cut Out.
I mean I love how it turned out,but with all these deleted scenes,my gawd it would of been even better
imagine learning all this Sward choreography that last an hour and they only put like 8 minutes or less of it in the release film
