Sayfoo Foosay Me too, I like fear fun equally, maybe more. The cd case for ily, honeybear is worth buying by itself. Amazing pop-up art and, in addition to lyrics, a hilarious and thoughtful booklet called Exercises for Listening.
It's the future of how band labels should release albums. We need a sample to chew on. I just bought two Robin Guthrie albums after hearing a few tracks on UA-cam.

It was a grey Sunday morning, I was driving, at 7:00am to my new shitty job, and than, "I Love You, Honeybear" was played on the radio (106fm, Tel-Aviv Campus). And damn. the only moment which i would like to remember from that day. may everything bless you Father John Macy.
I'm going to buy this album and listen to it in the middle of the Canadian wilderness with a bottle of whiskey and my friends, all around a roaring fire.
+D. Robinson I really liked Fear Fun a lot. So I was excited for this and really wanted to like it. Honey Bear is unbearable. The rest is kinda boring. Gonna give it more tries than the 3 times I have listened so far but i might need more than whiskey.
For Jamie K. We were friends for a long time, worked together for years, reconnected later and life and spent one night together. Fast forward to our 30s, we reconnected again and ended up becoming partners. I would always listen to this song because I would have to see you only on the weekends because you lived in Jersey and I lived in Philly. When can we talk, with the face, instead of using all these strange devices? I miss you. I wish I could go back and just tell you we should just be friends. I miss that more than anything. Take care of yourself.
i was going to download this illegally but decided not to be a dick and purchased it and i have never felt better about my life what a great choice 10/10
+Jordano Santos It's pretty funny how widely despised the Grammy's are by music fans compared to any other media award (Academy Awards, Tony's, etc.). There's definitely room for another music award.
I hate the Oscars almost as much. But what the fuck do we know? While we appreciate this music, I teach at a college and most of my students have never heard of FJM or Fleet Foxes. As far as film goes, most students have no idea who Humphrey Bogart was, as well as Dennis Hopper or even Dustin Hoffman. It should be of no surprise the most popular music and film does not equate to greatness.
All that says to me is that your students are uncultured & unwilling to try new things. In the age of digital, where information is easy to find and well organised and collected, the narrow view the Grammy awards represents shouldn't still exist. The influx of pointless information we see also on a daily basis should not prevent people from exploring their tastes despite the malaise it causes. And university students especially are supposed to have higher than average intelligence, being closed minded and attending university is just a waste of the student's time. Awards ceremonies should be held to a higher standard than just 'what is popular in the manipulated charts right now', it feels like we are all just encouraged to be stupid and to take what is fed to us. What do we know? A little more than some others so it would seem, and it is our duty as such as the slightly more learned to raise all of our expectations.
David Hoggan Absolutely, that's totally who I heard from minute one. Like the Mull Historical comparison too, but don't hear any Sufjan Stevens..........guess we all hear things differently eh.
I got this when it came out and I wasn't really feeling it, but I tried it again a few weeks ago and this shit hit me like a brick. Probably the best singer/songwriter album I've heard in years. Second favorite album of the year behind Kendrick's
+Jeff Penn TPAB is amazing. I agree that this album is another front runner for my AOTY. I would also include Foals' new album "What Went Down", The Dear Hunter's new album "Act IV: Reprise and Rebirth", and Sufjan Stevens' "Carrie and Lowell" on that list. Amazing year for music.
Grahame Green when I saw him live and he played this song, I forgot about the dubbed laughter and legitimately thought people were laughing behind me and I had to turn around lol
I saw a cute pink vinyl at my local barns and Nobel and when I pulled it up I was shocked to see honey bear, didn't even own a record player and I bought it right there.
I'm not usually into this kind of music, but Strange Encounter is fucking crazy good. I've been trying to broaden my interests in music and I'm pretty sure I've struck gold.
My ex boyfriend and I bonded over FJM and even went to one of his concerts in Montreal. Even though we aren't together anymore we're still friends and I'm insanely grateful that I don't have any bad memories associated with this album because that would be a travesty. Still love ya Honeybear :)
I can't believe it's taken me til now to discover FJM... they're so amazing I can't understand why this isn't played on our radio stations instead of the garbage that is played on (the vast majority of) FM these days.
Check out videos of him playing it live, the string section is more prominent and just makes the song fucking excellent. I didn't like True Affection at first and it really grew on me.
This album is an auditory orgasm for logophiles & melomaniacs. FJM's ability to use language and inflection to convey EXACTLY what he means and feels is uncanny.
Saw him live last week in Sydney! He was amazing. Thanks to my wife for taking me.... Then saw Mac DeMarco a few days ago at the same place! That was awesome but a completely different experience... didn't think there was going to be a mosh pit and people going bonkers everywhere....
Great show! I asked my sister what she was doing for the night and said she was seeing Father John Misty so I called my girlfriend immediately to tell her we were going!
Thanks for the great tunes. I just heard about Father John Misty through associations with Conor Oberst & Jonathan Wilson. I can't buy the album now since I am currently serving in Peace Corps out here in Albania, but will surely do so when I get back to the US! It's so nice that Sub Pop makes albums available on UA-cam! Best line:
You left a note in your perfect script: "Stay as long as you want"
I haven’t left your bed since
Love it!!! :D
there's Many lines like that in this album, his wife is truely beautiful!
I love the double meaning of script here
In what song?
I love too. The whole bridge in fact is one of the greatest I’ve ever heard.
He was your pillow yes.
I just love the kind of woman who can walk over a man, I mean like a godamn marching band. That hits me every time
I read the track list and wondered why he would write longer and longer songs as the album went by. I'm not a proud man.
Hah..y'ole devil you!
Michael, the runtime of this album is infinity.
Dear Sam Smith fans. Do not listen to this. You can never go back again. #fatherjohnmisty

Basically how it's like listening to any of his albums.
I wish I could hear this album for the first time again.
Remarkable depth to this desire
I'm really enjoying my first experience right now
This hit me like a brick.
I was driving home from the record store with my buddy and he found the instruction book inside and we were dying laughing doing mad libs n shit
From someone who just listened to the entire album for the first time... Holy Shit
I listen pretending that my boyfriend wrote these lyrics about me, and it's glorious. His wife is a goddamn lucky woman.
lol
+Luke Phillips Wow we have similar names
+Elizabeth Mast Your boyfriend's wife is a lucky woman?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I dedicated I Love You, Honeybear (song) to my girlfriend and she loved it lol :) She said the song was very pretty, funny, and so real.
can't wait to wither and die out in the sun to the beat of this album repeated over and over until the cats start clawing at my baked corpse
Don't we all?
so edgy
If this was your tinder profile, I'd swipe right. Maybe even up, if you caught me in a good mood.
One of the most beautiful albums I've ever heard. Tillman's exceptionally honest lyrics and ambitious arrangements are inspiring to me.
It was a grey Sunday morning,

Listened to this on LSD but slowed down the lyrics, probably the most beautiful thing I have ever listened to.

The Night Josh Tillman Came To Our Apartment sounds like satire of a Beach Boys song that could have been on Pet Sounds.
Long may you run, J. Tillman...
You never cease to amaze me.
Even though True Affection doesn't fit in, like at all, I still love it. This whole album is great.
True Affection is one of the better tracks, and it's clear difference in sound to the others adds another dimension to the album imo.
agreed. I would say that if I heard True Affection as an unreleased track it could poss be my fav FJM song.
True Affection is honestly my most favorite song since it compliments with his other songs, it's totally different
Check out videos of him playing it live, the string section is more prominent and just makes the song fucking excellent. I didn't like True Affection at first and it really grew on me.
Not a real priest
Just saw him last night, it was incredible. He's a fantastic entertainer on top of being a talented artist.
Just bought my hard copy after listening to this feed about 15 times. Thank you Subpop. FJM is my new favorite artist without a doubt,.
I am currently sitting happily at Santa Rosa Beach Florida. then you Father J for making even the ocean more enjoyable. Hail Misty.
*thank you* my bad
This is just one of those albums that you find and hold onto
Man this album is so effing good
This album is an auditory orgasm for logophiles & melomaniacs. FJM's ability to use language and inflection to convey EXACTLY what he means and feels is uncanny.
Oh my god
Today should be a national holiday in celebration of the release of this album
*cries*
Love it
This album has such a 60s/70's vibe to it. It feels like I'm listening to a collaboration album by Elton John and The Beatles. Great Album!
I've just discovered Father John Misty and I think it's really amazing music!! Can't wait to hear more and more :)

Thanks for sharing, his music is refreshing during a flood of commercial bullshit on radio.
All music is boring to me nowadays, except Father John Misty, and I listen everything from Classical music to pop 2016.
