Slănic mine is an old salt mine, located in Slănic, Prahova County, Romania, just 100 km north of Bucharest. The salt mine is closed for extraction purposes, but is open for visitors, featuring a microclimate with natural air-conditioning and constant temperature and atmospheric pressure throughout the year. It is made up of two levels, named Unirea and Mihai. Many of the visitors come for its supposed healing effects due to the purity of the air. Throughout the mine you will find various types of equipment for recreational activity such as playground equipment and some ping-pong tables. One area is sectioned off and is used for medical patients with lung cancer to come and rest in. The main elevator shaft is unique in that it has no metallic parts due to rust. After an elevator accident in 2014, minivans are used to spiral visitors up and down.
The air-conditioning of the mine is natural, with a constant temperature during the whole year of 12 °C, an atmospheric pressure of 730 mmHg and a humidity with an average of 10% lower than the surface average.
The excavated space occupies a volume of 2.9 million m³ and it is extended on a surface of 78,000 m².
The mine is composed of 14 chambers with trapezoidal profiles, having a 10 m opening to the ceiling and 32 m to the ground, a height of 54 m and a wall inclination angle of 60 degrees. The shore difference between the surface and the base of the mine is of 208 meters.

I've had a lot of difficulty finding videos like this. Just exploring places, without music, without commentary or subtitles just a video of the place. I love the camerawork, how you capture the massiveness of the place, I hope you do more videos like this. Keep up the great work.

I visited this beautiful draw-dropping site in the Summer of 2016. Watching this again gives me strong Blade Runner vibes, looking at the walls resembling the giant towers and walking between them in a large yet empty plaza or street. Thank you for the video! Craciun fericit si un an nou prosper România!

Amazing. Great history, carpentry, engineering. The video reminds me of a '90s video game simulation with the figures and the sound. Thanks for the tour!

If you believe the "Salt mine" cover story your eyes are painted on. These are clearly ancient underground cities. Probably created because the climate/cataclysm on the surface was uninhabitable.

Why mining salt while you can just vaporize the sea water

it's on Romanian territory, check on google maps. nationalism causes hatred between people, it is not important to promote such values, we are all human

Out if curiosity, I Googled "the royal Hungarian salt mine" and the results actually showed a Polish mine. There's virtually no information about any Hungarian salt mines. Either way, the one in this video is most certainly in Romania; in Prahova, to be exact, which is nowhere near the border with Hungary.

@@Explore-RomaniaInteresting take, considering the sworn enemy of Nationalism, Commu nism, is spreading most of the hate I can see today, while Nationalists seem to just want to be left alone with their cultures and countries in tact lol.
