UNC's Eric Montross dies at 52

Tar Heel basketball legend Eric Montross died Sunday at the age of 52, his family confirmed.
Montross was surrounded by loved ones at his home in Chapel Hill. His family said he was diagnosed with cancer in March.
Montross played under head coach Dean Smith from 1990-1994. He was also teammates with current UNC head coach Hubert Davis for his freshman and sophomore years. In 1993, Montross helped the Tar Heels win the NCAA Championship.

That's terrible! My late cousin, Fred Rusher attended North Carolina with Brian Reese and Eric Montross when they both played basketball for the Tarheels winning a National Championship in 1993, RIP Eric Montross.

I was a huge ACC fan, a GT fan--but I respected how Montross played the game. He was a hardnosed player, but not a hot-dog or a flopper. Sounds like he was a great guy off the court too. I hope he wasn't in too much pain, may he RIP.
