    My main message would be prioritise savings over spending money and keep yourself away from unnecessary spending.

      I do think it's important to plan for something to enjoy & work out a budget for it. Like I want to do X in February 2025, and then set aside $ every paycheck for that.

      @@sallysnodgrass2863 yes so agree, you have to prioritise the things that really matter to you. I’ve got a girls’ trip to Portugal coming up that I’ve planned and budgeted for because it’s important to me!

    My favourite lesson came from the book Simplify Your Finances, Multiply Your Wealth, which suggests splitting the money you save into pots or accounts that cover every area of financial life so you can save both for the big stuff and the smaller fun stuff as well as your long term goals, but you don't buy what you are saving for until you have the money and it's easy to remember what they are because it uses the acronym magic.
