Deep Purple Potassium Iodate Reaction (HD)

  • This reaction was performed at my High School's chemistry lab (AP Chemistry). With the correct concentration of Potassium Iodate, it is possible to create a purple color-changing clock. If you want to know the details of the reaction, please use that marvelous tool known as "Google" to find out (or pester me enough and I'll post it in the description).

    Is the left beaker the starch solution?

      I believe that the left beaker is indeed the starch solution, yes. If you want to see some better videos of this reaction, I would suggest searching Google for "Iodine clock reaction." Some of them are quite fascinating!
