    Brilliant video and brilliantly explained, I followed you step by step and it worked! This has saved me loads of time trying to figure out a system on my own. The only things I added to my own template were optional personalisation, no. of characters and linking the colour variations up to photos, but all of that was easy. I was hoping I could add hoodies and sweats to the listing so that I could sell the same design on 3 types of apparel in one listing but Etsy doesn't make it easy. Not to worry, will figure it out, but your video was great, so helpful so thank you for posting. 🙃

    shipping profile
    Etsy only allows one shipping profile per listing, and within the shipping profile you can't have different shipping prices by variant (at least not currently). So it's best to only do combo listings for products that have a similar shipping cost. The other option would be to do free shipping for all the products in the listing and just build the cost into each item, but that only works if the price will still be competitive with the shipping cost built in of course.

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  2 роки тому +1

      Glad it was helpful! I believe to do a different design on the same product, you would have to have two variants in the listing - one for each. You could add the his/hers specification to either the size or the color variants. For example, instead of having a color variant that is just "White". You could do "White - His" and "White - Hers" as separate color variants. This would give you two separate variants to link in Printful, so you can select the different print file for each one. It would definitely add some time to the process, but I think it could be done that way.

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  Рік тому

      Thanks! In order to have your orders sync to Printful automatically, yes you would need to do this for each new listing. There are a couple of things that could be happening with sellers that create a high volume of new listings all the time - the most likely thing is they might be creating the listings without syncing them at all. If you do that, you can still view the orders on Printful by enabling the "import unsynced orders" option in your Settings menu. Unsynced orders will be imported to Printful and then you can manually match the order up with a product. Some sellers may be doing it this way to save time when creating new listings - but then they do have to create the product on Printful and manually handle the orders. The other thing when you see very high volume of new listings for one shop is that they might have multiple people doing the work. Many of the "bigger" Etsy sellers have several people working on the shop to create new listings and manage orders.

    This was very helpful. I want to set up a listing for a set of 4 coasters using Printful/Etsy and I've not found anything that comes close to explaining how to do it. Do you think I can use the same methodology as what you went through with my four individual coasters? Maybe adding the variance for each of the coasters so people can decide if they want all the same or one of each? Thank you in advance.

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  Рік тому +2

      Hi! Yes you absolutely can use this method to create a variation for each coaster design and then sync it with Printful. If you want to give customers a better price when they buy multiple, there are a couple ways to do that. You could use a quantity-based promo code and include that information in the listing so customers know they can use the promo code to get a discount if they buy multiple - the catch with that is that on Etsy, quantity-based promo codes apply to your whole shop so any customer who buys that quantity of items (any combination from your store) will be able to use the coupon code. If that doesn't work for you, you could also create a separate variation for a bundle/pack of coasters. The only catch with that is that there's no way to sync that variation with Printful because it can only be 1:1 between product and variation, meaning there's no way to tell printful that one variation is more than one item - so you would have to manually import the orders for the bundle/packs. So neither option is perfect but if you wanted to offer a lower price for buying multiple you have a couple ways to do it. I hope that helps!

    Wow what a great tutorial….you went thru everything at just the right speed covering everything needed. I watched your other vid on the same subject covering Printify. I personally found Printful much easier…but the draw back is Printfuls catalog and prices. I do have one question…is there a standard or best size to use for T-Shirt Graphics. Ive measured a ton of designs at big stores and found most designs printed on shirts are 9” inches to 10” inches wide. What is your thoughts on design size.

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  2 роки тому +1

      Thank you! And great question. I like to size my designs around 12 to 13 inches in width in the Printify design editor view. I think Printful maxes out the width at what they call "12" but if you hover over the info bubble it says that it's not inches...so I usually just don't go outside the max area on Printful. There are a couple reasons I generally stick between 12 and 13 inches: 1. When you do a quick survey of "top selling" t-shirt designs either by using Etsy research tools like Sale Samurai or Alura, or if you do the same thing for Amazon Merch with a tool like Merch Informer, the vast majority of the top selling designs are quite large and many fill up the entire printable area. Of course there are exceptions like if the style of the design is minimalist, etc. but in general, it seems like larger prints sell very well. 2. This is technically the same reason but I actually believe that it's important to differentiate between designs that people shop for in a physical store vs. online. In a store, you are seeing each design up-close, possibly holding the item in your hands, and you can see all the details very clearly so the print/design can be more subtle or smaller and that doesn't impact your decision to buy (at least not by default). However when you are shopping online, your eyes are seeing dozens or hundreds of small thumbnail images in search results so the bigger, bolder designs stand out and grab your attention more. I suspect this contributes to why a lot of top selling designs fall into that category. 3. I find that sizing my design between 12 - 13 inches presents a bold/big design while also having some consistency between print providers. Some providers have a max print area up to 15 inches which is massive, but if you max that out and then have to switch providers for a few orders, you'll have to size it down to meet their max size and your product will be inconsistent for those orders. Pretty much all platforms and providers can accommodate a max print width of 12-13 inches so it helps with consistency.
      Sorry for how long that was but I hope it helps!

    • @PODinsights
      @PODinsights  2 роки тому +1

      You're correct! Etsy only allows one shipping profile per listing, and within the shipping profile you can't have different shipping prices by variant (at least not currently). Hi! You can save a draft of the listing and use it as a template to start each one in your Etsy shop, but for each new listing/design you still will have to go through the process of syncing each variant to Printful if you want orders to automate. On the Etsy side of things though, basically you just create a listing with everything that will be repeated - size chart images, general info in description, product sizes & colors, etc. Then save it as a draft and copy it each time you want to create a new listing. You can also copy an existing live listing if you prefer.

      Hi! It does not harm anything to turn off the "import existing products" option in your account, however you would need this option enabled for any future listings that you create using this method so that they are visible in your Printful account. You can keep this option enabled indefinitely and all your unsynced product listings will be visible in your Printful account. I have left it enabled on my Printful account in case I need to sync anything manually, the only downside is that your "all listings" page gets pretty long.

      Hi! The listing is created on the Etsy side, and then you sync the variants in Printful each time you create a new listing. And just like you said, just change the artwork, title, tags, etc. for each one. You can update existing listings! For example, if you have a listing with one type of product that is already synced to Printful, you can go into the listing on the Etsy side and add new variants for other products. The only thing to be careful of is that you can still only have one shipping profile per listing, so if the shipping cost of the products is significantly different then you may not want to combine them since you can only set one shipping price for the listing. You could also do free shipping and build the cost into each item, but I think for canvas and some other wall art products that could make the product prices look pretty high. Hi! Printful cannot identify multiple products from a single SKU/variant. You can create custom product variations in the Etsy listing that would be a bundle of products purchased together, but the order won't be automatically fulfilled by Printful. You would have to manually submit the orders on Printful with the correct products. For automatic order fulfillment, 1 listing variation must be synced to 1 product variation on Printful.

In fact, if you would prefer to not publish them to your Etsy account at all, you can copy/paste out of the Printify draft. I personally find it easy to copy/paste from an Etsy listing because they line up nicely and are easier to scroll through, but you can access the SKUs from the Printify draft as well. The view of the SKU in the Printify draft is cut off if you're on a desktop/laptop full-size browser window, but if you resize the window to make it more narrow, it actually gives you a better view with the full SKU for each variant - I just recently discovered this so that's an option too!

      You're right! I think it does take longer to do this with Printful, but it does work!

    I have been emailing, chatting, calling Etsy back and forth for five days and cannot get a clear definite answer. All I get is unclear info and links to info I don't totally understand. Here are my questions I presented to them. If anyone has any suggestions or anwers please let me know.
    1. Can I purchase a SVG design and heat press that design on a t- shirt myself and sell it on Etsy
    2. Can I purchase an SVG design, and have Printful place my purchased design on a t shirt for me and sell it on Etsy.
    3. Etsy says to list Printiful as an integration using their integration list, problem is when I click on the inegration link they provide, Printrful is not on that list.
    Etsy also sent this info that I don't totally understand when it relates to Printful.
    "Etsy sellers may use third parties to ship or fulfill their orders as long as these items meet our policies. For example, if you have your original designs printed by a professional printer in a different location, they can mail your customer the order. However, drop shipping ready-made items you've purchased from a supplier to resell would not meet our Handmade policies."
    "“Reselling” is selling an item that you, the seller, did not make or design. Etsy's marketplace includes handmade items, vintage items, and craft supplies. Reselling is only allowed in the vintage and craft supplies categories.
    Everything listed in our Handmade category must be made or designed by you, the seller. Reselling is not allowed in Handmade. Read more in our Handmade Policy.
    "
    I know that's a lot to read, but I just wanted to show you what my problem is. Thanks so much!

      Hi! I will try to be concise:
      1. Yes, you can use licensed graphics to make your own products. There are many sellers on Etsy that sell apparel that they do heat transfer designs on. You are making the final product in this scenario, so that qualifies under the handmade category.
      2. Other sellers do this too but see my comment below in regard to altering graphics/designs.
      3. There are two steps to using Printful or other print on demand platform with Etsy. One is to manually add them as a "Production Partner" in your Etsy account. You do this in your seller dashboard under Settings >> Production Partners. Then, you integrate Printful with your account so that you can publish listings and your orders can sync to your Printful account. You actually initiate this from your Printful account and they have a video showing how to do this (ua-cam.com/video/146o9WF5_F4/v-deo.html) I do too (ua-cam.com/video/VTfUgYhyOSc/v-deo.html).
      With regard to reselling/handmade: It is true that to sell under the handmade program, you are supposed to either make the physical product, or make the design. Print on demand platforms like Printful can make the physical products for you as long as you are contributing the design. Print on demand is not reselling because you are not selling a finished product and you are not purchasing the product before the order from the customer.
      Lastly - regarding licensed graphics: there are lots of great sources of graphics that give you a commercial/print on demand license to use them on products that you sell. I use Vexels and Creative Fabrica myself. There are graphics on those platforms that you technically can sell on a product without making changes because of the terms of the license (Creative Fabrica has some you cannot do this with too). Canva also lets you use their graphic elements but you have to alter them or combine them into a design, you cannot sell them as-is without making any type of changes. Regardless of whether you can use licensed graphics without changing them, I would recommend always making some alterations to the graphics or customizing the design for your products. The main reason I recommend this is actually not related to licensing or Etsy rules. Sites that offer commercial graphics are selling them to lots of people. If you use the graphics as-is, it's likely that you won't be the only one selling that design. At that point it becomes a competition on price since several sellers have the same design on the same product. If you make changes to the design or combine several graphics into a finished design, you can offer something unique that isn't exactly like the competition. In my tutorial videos and product reviews I often use graphics that I didn't change simply because it makes it easier for making the tutorial, but I always try to alter graphics for the listings in my Etsy shop.
      I hope that helps and you can get started with your business!

      @@PODinsights Thanks so much for responding. I think I kind of understand everything except my second question regarding if I used a purchased design and also use Printful I'm thinking I probably can't sell that on Etsy is that correct? But I'm thinking that if I alter the design which means that I did something to it physically even though I'm not the original creator and have printful to process it then I can sell it on Etsy or maybe I have that wrong?

      @@barbra429 I believe it likely is a fine line type of thing to sell a design that you did not alter using print on demand. Sellers on Etsy certainly do it...I see plenty of listings that are using print on demand and have the exact same graphic as other sellers...but it may not 100% fit with Etsy's definition of handmade since you didn't create any part of the design or make the product. The saving grace might be that it's still not reselling since it would be made to order, but I couldn't say with certainty that Etsy wouldn't disapprove of that. You can sell designs that you have made changes to - like using a graphic and adding text to it or combining several graphics to make a design - and that is exactly what lots of print on demand sellers do.

      @@PODinsights That makes sense. Thank you so much for taking the time to explain. I have been working on trying to open an Etsy shop for almost 2 years, so frustrating.
