This hymn always makes me want to confess my sins out of love, not out of fear. Glory be to Christ the King!
This was sung as King Ferdinand reconquered the cities of Spain. When the victors paused during the Sanctus, they heard the voices of Christian prisoners singing from underground prisons. They had not known they were there.

As a novice brother in the Society of Mary, I experienced the Te Deum as a thanksgiving for the election of Pope John XXIII. The novice master gathered all the novices and professed brothers in our chapel, and with the two bells in the belfry ringing loudly and continuously, we sang our hearts out to God almighty.

This was sung as the Ottomans retreated from Birgu and Senglea in Malta in 1565AD, by relieved and exhausted defenders of Christ and God, as they saw it.
This was also sung after the battles of Agincourt, Crécy, Poitiers, Towton, and Tewkesbury, after Catholics slaughtered one another.

That's very interesting. I just read about a prophesy by Alois Irlmaier, that "Te Deum" will be sung in the "Dome" of Cologne after winning the third great war.

That Jesus sacrificed himself in order to give all of us the gift of eternal life. If you doubt this main idea you might as well give up your religion and live your life as sceptic.

Understand, then, that it is only because of the inital breaking away of priests from the church Jesus founded that other religions were borne. It is through the Holy Spirit, fasting, prayer, and sacrifice that people will be converted back to the faith.
Do we, as Catholics, understand how precious is the Gift of the Eucharist, that we must defend and protect It at all cost? It is what allows us to be who we are, for without it, we cannot be Catholic. We MUST pray fervently for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and the religious! We must also pray without ceasing for our current priests, for they are constantly tempted by Satan. He is relentless in his pursuit of their souls. Without priests, we cannot have the Eucharist. The Rosary is a powerful weapon against him and we must pray it with regularity, also.
