Hotel Convento de Alpendurada - Portugal

O CONVENTO DE ALPENDURADA situa-se no concelho de Marco de Canaveses, região norte de Portugal. O Mosteiro de S. João Batista de Alpendurada foi fundado em meados do século XI e era um convento Beneditino. Em Setembro de 2012 foi considerado como monumento de interesse público. Após 20 anos de árduos trabalhos de restauro o convento foi transformado em hotel. A adaptação foi feita mantendo a traça original. As antigas celas são hoje quartos confortáveis mas onde ainda se respira a austeridade de outros tempos. O cenário envolvente é de uma grande beleza paisagística, dominado pelo Douro e seus vinhedos. O atual Convento foi reconstruído com as mesmas pedras seculares de antanho e com uma azulejaria dos séculos XVII e XVIII, com salões seculares e longos corredores.
THE CONVENT OF ALPENDURADA is located in the municipality of Marco de Canaveses, northern Portugal. The Monastery of S. João Batista de Alpendurada was founded in the mid-eleventh century and was a Benedictine convent. In September 2012 it has been considered as a monument of public interest. After 20 years of hard restoration work, the monastery was converted into a hotel. Adaptation kept its original character. The old cells are now comfortable rooms where still breathes the austerity of yesteryear. The surrounding scenery is a great landscape, dominated by the Douro and its vineyards. The current convent was rebuilt with the same secular stones and tiles of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, and secular halls and long hallways.
