    You nailed it. I have been prepping and circulating out food for 3 years now. I only have so much money and what I do with it has to be thought out how I spend it. I buy only what I need . My money isn't increasing so I have to be smart. Just changing up a few things I am doing just fine. I see people bitching but they are not changing their spending habits to make it easier on themselves. I hear people say I am broke before my next check and yet they still do everything they did before shtf. Well of course your broke , because you haven't stopped buying stuff that you don't really need. Do I like having to cut back? No but I do it because that is the time we are in and I am adjusting to the times. When things get better I may splurge on a candy bar but until then I don't need it. Thanks for video stay safe snake.

      I *like* cutting back because it proves to me that I won't miss most of it. No paid entertainment in a decade, and in the past few years I have purchased exactly one coffee shop coffee and no foods anywhere but the grocery store. I never think about a coffee and donut when I pass a shop, anymore. There's no temptation because it never enters my mind to do it now.

    I grew up living off the land. My Mom would go to town and spend $20-$25 for a family of 5. We milked a cow, we raised our own meat, we planted our gardens. Today I live off the land. I spend a lot more at the store because of inflation, but I keep the amount I spend down to a minimum. Prepping is the only way people are going to make it. I agree with you 100%. Great video, thanks for sharing. There's a lot we can do to save and get ahead. God bless!!!

    Great video. Thanks for sharing. As a prepper, the biggest budget cut we've made is shutting off our heat and AC. We learned to heat and cook solely with wood in winter. In summer, take the time to acclimate to the heat. We live in Florida and don't run AC. Also we keep the hot water heater off all the time unless absolutely necessary. We water the livestock and gardens with IBC totes attached to gutters. There's tons of ways to save that adds up.

    • @SurvivalTheory

      @@SurvivalTheory for us, it isnt as much about saving money as it is practicing and preparing. In shtf, you're not going to have a clothes dryer. So why not shut it off now and learn to hang your clothes? Saves money as a secondary bonus. Same with heat, ac, cooking. Leave the electric/gas stove alone and get used to cooking on a woodstove, bbq grill, or open flame. Saves money. Paper towel stocks will eventually run out. Get used to using rags and things you can wash, in lieu of paper towels. Growing a small container garden can dramatically reduce costs at the grocery store and give you the practice you'll need for shtf when the shelves are completely empty. If a prepper is practicing skills, they should inherently be saving money as they become more producers of goods and services and less consumers of them.

    Tried your grandpa/old main driving approach and drove 190.6 miles on 9.652 gallons = 19.74 MPG. In a 5.7L 4x4 Tundra, many times the same trip was around 16.5-17 mpg so it's a nice increase. Never once floored it, or hit passing gear (out of character for my driving) and was through very mountainous terrain - Show Low AZ to Mesa AZ. My wife said it was her most enjoyable drive on that route ever. As an added bonus, much less wear and tear on the drive train.

    I've been growing my own food for years. I knew a food shortage could always happen. Now the Gov is warning of a food shortage and in their own word, a famine. Everyone with a Yard needs to start planting food producing plants, bushes, and trees. You can buy adult versions of these at nurseries so you don't have to wait 10 years for the fruits/berries/nuts. Food is super easy to make. There is no reason why we should run out. Stop growing grass in your yards and get the stuff that will keep you alive. I have apple, plum, pear, cherry and pawpaw trees. A dozen of each except for the Pawpaw. I have 32 of them. Man those are good. For bushes i have hazel nuts, aronia berries, autumn olive, black raspberries, service berries, honey berry, sea buckthorn (my favorite), Teaberry, creeping wintergreen, spicebush, that's all i can think of off the top of my head. My yard makes about 10,000 pounds of food a year. I give most of it away. But i have hundreds of canning jars if i need them. If it gets worse i'll do a normal garden and also get some chickens. It's best to pre buy all your garden seeds too. Like right now. Get extra and don't plant them. You never know. Next year there might not be any.

No light, no water, no Internet, no mobile phones, no gas pumps, no traffic control systems, no emergency response, no HVAC, no refrigeration, no trash collection, no transportation, no sewer, no groceries. Last night I was at the grocery and got a 3 pack of nice rib eyes for 24.75 (got to watch for those sales) and 9 pints of Coors light for 13.09. It is ok to make comments on how the price of fuel and food is going up AND go out for a meal occasionally. Just because you can afford a meal out, doesn’t mean you must stay silent on the ever increasing prices of everyday items. And just because they might get a meal out or drive differently, doesn’t automatically mean they aren’t prepping to a degree that they are happy with. There’s a lot of ‘moral high ground’ and arrogance in the prepping community that suggests they ‘know better’ than everyone else. Every prepper thinks they are doing it right. But the reality is, everyone is a prepper. Nobody truly lives hand to mouth. We are all just on a spectrum of ‘degree’ of prepping. Some people feel ok with meals out and are happy with their stock of food at home. Does that mean they can’t make comment on the empty shelves and increased prices?? Come on now. Let’s not think we have it all sorted and then look down at others who do it different. Truth is, nobody has a totally foolproof prep and we should all be humble enough to recognise that.

    • @SurvivalTheory
      @SurvivalTheory  2 роки тому +2

      I complain about prices AND still eat out...just not like I used to. Most of that is simply choosing to be healthier, but I've found a financial gain as well. If someone is prepping at all, then they are doing it right. The foolishness is not prepping at all, especially considering the environment we are currently in.
      I dig into peoples' finances as part of my job on a regular basis, and I can tell you that MOST people are living above their means and headed for disaster due to situations that have developed over the past couple of years, and the situation is steadily getting worse. The problem is, MOST people are still trying to live a certain way for appearance rather than securing their situation by, for example, different shopping or driving habits. I gave personal examples of how I am combatting the increase in living expenses by making my pennies saved turn into dollars...lots of dollars. MOST people need to find ways to cut back, but they don't out of lack of knowledge or just plain foolishness. Yeah, there are some that can still afford to eat out on a regular basis or drive like gas is cheap...but I know there are not many of them that can afford that if they were to analyze their projected income vs. projected living expenses. I've seen the finances of people living in million dollar homes, a Jag in the driveway, and a Rolex on their wrist...and they are up to their necks in debt and own nothing, not even the furniture in their house....with no preps to boot. This video is for most people, and out of those most people, it is for those that want to find ways to cut back on expenses or find ways to have money for prepping.
      Complaining about costs is one thing, doing something about it is another...and this was my rant about it.
      Thanks for watching and commenting!

Groc CEOs are now saying they may have 3 to 6 months of food available. People are being paid to stay home again, less production. Restaurants are having a hard time staffing....
      Deny reality all you want. They're PAYING farmers more NOT to produce food. SHTF is not coming. It's here. Gas prices, diesel alone, will drive up prices 2 to 4 times last years prices. Gates owns 40% of ALL farm land now and he's not growing food. He's preventing food production. Look at his Ted Talks. Population control - Vaccines, Health services, energy limitation, Services.... He said it with his own mouth and it's recorded. Why are they eliminating those videos you suppose?
