Generally, camping is a great thing. It's an outdoor experience that sometimes we don't get enough of, but when it's pouring down, rain and thunder and lightning and water is flowing into your tent like a river, I think nature is telling you to pack it in that day and try another time. Try it again, just not in a Low-Lying area like this one. Try again, just elsewhere, and in a more protected area.

Just like you said, the water was like a flood, the thunder struck the trees around me, I camped in an overhead position with no trees, so the possibility of being struck by lightning was very possible, quite scary. I was actually quite scared at that time. It was all beyond my expectations, too dangerous

I would have set the frame up the just throw the fly sheet over it, then get under it and wait till the rain eased of a bit. Or try to put the inner tent up inside the fly. -
