Great cover of Red Soil -- love the droning of the guitars in the beginning and the overall mood / atmosphere of the arrangement. Keeps some of the same mystique as the original. I keep coming back to this one again and again.
Damn. That was freaking sweet. It had just a great build up within the first minute and a half, then proceeding to blow the hinges off. It gave the feeling of wandering the depths of Brinstar's red area. It made me feel like you are trudging through the humidity and heat, just trying to inch closer to your goal. Also, the solos were great, and contrasted nicely. Each had the distinctness of say, listening to Adrian Smith and Dave Murray or Warren Demartini and Robbin Crosby; the styles of both helped compliment the song with their contrast.
What makes this even MORE awesome is both you and Jules playing this song together. Great work guys.

That was a lot better than I was expecting. The two solos toward the end were seriously great.
During the acoustic part I imagine a desolate desert planet, maybe an acoustic guitar remix of Red Soil could be used in a desert area in a hypothetical future Metroid.

As someone who is hardly familiar with anything from the Metroid universe before MP, I don't know the original. But it still sounds strangely familiar nonetheless. It sounds like the Torvus Bog Subterranean Theme!

Relistening to this, I've realised why I always liked it so much. Tonally it reminds me a lot of Kingdom Under Fire (probably Heroes, but might be Crusaders), which was one of the games that defined my music taste I think.
